Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1341: Chapter 1336: The Rules of the Old Teahouse

Chinatown holds a significant position in New York, with its residents primarily being Chinese, most of New York Chinese commercial activities are concentrated here.

This Chinese enclave, one-third of it is Huaxia restaurants, with mountains of fruit, medicinal herb, and seafood stalls on both sides of the street, the vendors and beautiful Chinese signs look very Chinese-like.

However, hearing those people speak authentic Guangdong dialect, Huo Sining still feels somewhat dizzy because she doesn’t understand Cantonese.

Just as Huo Sining and her group arrived at a tea house, she unexpectedly heard the familiar sound of a stone cutting machine.

The sharp sizzling sound was particularly piercing to Huo Sining’s ears, she couldn’t help but glance at Bai Yishan beside her, Bai Yishan understood, and the few of them slowly walked into the tea house.

This is a very retro tea house, the exterior of the tea house looks very old, and as you walk up the stairs made of wooden planks into the tea house, the inside genuinely resembles an ancient tea house.

Such an old tea house is hard to find even within the country.

The tea house has quite a bit of people inside, with dozens of tables in the hall almost all occupied.

Seeing Huo Sining and the others come in, a young man dressed in Tang attire immediately approached to guide them, after much effort they found a table for six people in the corner, fitting for Huo Sining, Gu Xu, Su Qingqing, Bai Yishan, Ouyang Jun, and Qin Tian.

After taking a sip of tea poured by the young man in Tang attire, even Gu Xu unexpectedly raised his eyebrows, and Huo Sining couldn’t help but praise:

”Great tea!”

The tea leaves in this tea house are authentic Mingqian West Lake Longjing, although not as fragrant and tender as the Ancient Tea Tree in the porcelain sent by Huo Sining to Master Gu, but it’s not inferior to those high-quality tea leaves sold in tea houses within the country.

Of course, in Chinatown, such a pot of tea is naturally expensive, Gu Xu asked for the best, and a pot of tea costs one thousand US dollars.

However, at this moment, what the group was paying attention to was not this pot of tea, but the curtain behind the tea house.

Because behind the curtain at the back of the tea house, there were two Chinese people currently gambling stones in the inner courtyard.

Logically, tea houses should be quiet places, and something as noisy as a stone cutting machine would not normally appear in a tea house.

But Huo Sining noticed that the Chinese people who came here for tea didn’t seem to show any impatience, instead they all were watching the situation in the inner courtyard with expectant eyes, seemingly both expecting and eager to try.

”It’s increased, increased, it’s White Ground Green Type!”

Suddenly, one of the Chinese people in the courtyard exclaimed excitedly, smiling with joy: ”Old Chen’s tea money today is covered!”

”Increased?”

Once they heard it increased, some tea-drinking guests in the tea house began to stir, standing up and craning their necks to look towards the courtyard.

At this time, the Chinese person holding the increased stone came out from the back hall with a white ground green type jadeite not even the size of a palm, his face filled with excitement.

As soon as the person came out, the tea house manager in Tang attire went over and asked:

”Mr. Chen, congratulations on your rise! Are you planning to sell this piece of jadeite within the tea house or take it back?”

Mr. Chen looked at the piece of jadeite, hesitated, then asked:

”If I consign this piece of jadeite within the tea house, approximately what price would it be?”

The manager took the piece of jadeite, looked at it, and weighed it, then smiled:

”This piece of White Ground Green Type has a vibrant green color and looks delicate although the water quality is poor, but when it comes to this type of jadeite for making bracelets or small ornaments it shouldn’t have market trouble. Although yours can’t be made into a bracelet, it should suffice for making one or two small ornaments, should fetch about two thousand US dollars.”

Although two thousand US dollars isn’t much, for those who come here for tea, it’s considered quite an unexpected gain.

Old Chen was evidently very pleased, quickly saying to the manager: ”Then I choose to consign within the tea house, please help me.”

The manager waved a hand with a smile, brought the contract for Mr. Chen to look over and sign the agreement, then took the piece of jadeite to the curio shelf, opened a glass compartment, placed the White Ground Green Type inside, and locked it, pasting a price tag above the glass compartment.

Only then did Huo Sining notice that on that glass curio shelf, there were hundreds of compartments, each containing a piece of jadeite varying in size.

But those jadeites weren’t top-grade, at best they were dry green type, just slightly better than white ground green type.

Seeing this, Huo Sining had a faint suspicion.

The jadeites in those glass compartments very likely were all gambled out by these tea guests in the back hall.

Just after Old Chen and the manager finished signing the agreement, someone immediately stood up and went towards the manager.

Huo Sining saw that the person handed a wooden plaque to the manager, and soon the manager led that person into the inner hall.

Not only Huo Sining, the whole table found it odd.

Su Qingqing is a doer, immediately called over the Tang attire young man to inquire about the situation.

Upon learning that Huo Sining and several others were Huaxia people visiting New York, the young man explained with a smile:

”This is the specialty of our tea house, guests who spend at our tea house can get a wooden plaque for an extra fifty dollars, with this plaque, they can enter the inner hall to choose a stone to gamble.”

This is rather interesting, the tea house owner really knows how to find a gimmick, using some worthless brick material to bring considerable customer flow to the tea house, these days, as long as people want to get a bargain and try their luck, the tea house business would never be cold.

Looking at how the tea house is fully occupied, and those tea guests sitting eagerly waiting to try, you can tell how successful the tea house business strategy is!

Upon hearing the shop assistant’s explanation, interest flickered in Huo Sining’s eyes.

Bai Yishan considered more than others, continued asking: ”If it increases, do you charge a service fee?”

The assistant was quite patient, shook his head and explained: ”The tea house rule is, increase or break doesn’t concern us, if a guest cuts out a jadeite, our shop can sell it for them without any service charge.”

Huo Sining raised her eyebrows; next to her, Su Qingqing was already restless, grabbing Huo Sining’s arm excitedly: ”Ningning, this is fun, go choose a piece too! It only costs fifty bucks anyway!”

Huo Sining internally did have this thought, but with Su Qingqing urging her with such enthusiasm, Huo Sining was a bit helpless, nodded, took out fifty dollars from her bag, and got a number plaque from the young man in Tang attire.
