Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1315: Chapter 1311: Millennia-old Medicine Jar

In half an hour, the entire pottery jar was completely transformed. The thousand-year-old purple pottery, covered in black grime for who knows how many years, now revealed its true face under Mr. Bai’s hands.

The pure purple-black color, under the light, seemed almost to shine through, intoxicating everyone present.

No matter the color of the pottery, once it reaches a pure level, its unique charm will be revealed.

Black pottery and white pottery are highly sought after by people precisely because of their purity.

This thousand-year-old purple pottery is the same. Although it has no patterns or carvings on its surface, its purity and simplicity reach a pinnacle where its color, combined with its lightweight and exquisite craftsmanship, exude a unique charm.

The material of this purple pottery jar is delicate and lustrous, with walls thin as paper, a lightweight body, and graceful lines, making it appear dignified and elegant sitting on the table.

The deep purple jar hides a blue light, yet is as bright as a mirror, reflecting everyone’s expressions clearly.

A gentle tap with the hand produces a pleasant sound akin to ringing jade, crisp and echoes linger for a long time.

After wiping the jar’s body, Mr. Bai started to clean the bottom of the jar. After just two or three wipes, his face changed drastically. He looked at the jar’s bottom in shock, muttering after a long pause, ”This jar...”

A pattern revealed itself on the bottom after the cleaning.

Under careful examination, it somewhat resembled a Tai Chi diagram. Below the Tai Chi pattern, there was an inscription in seal script, reading ”Bao Pu Zi”.

Among these people, Liu Pengcheng was probably the only one outside of the antique circle, so he might not be familiar with the name ”Bao Pu Zi”.

But for the others, upon seeing the name, they all had expressions of astonishment.

Especially Mr. Bai, who trembled all over, lips quivering, eyes shining with excitement.

The earliest infectious disease expert of the Jin Dynasty, simultaneously Taoist leader and famous alchemist Ge Hong, was styled Zhichuan, and known as ”Bao Pu Zi”!

Ge Hong was the nephew of the alchemist Ge Xuanzhi of the Three Kingdoms, known as ”Immortal Ge”. He was granted the title of Marquis within the Pass and later retreated to Luofu Mountain to practice alchemy. He was proficient in alchemy internally and practiced medicine externally, masterfully studying Taoist and Confucian methods, knowledgeable across many schools. His seminal work ”Zhou Hou Fang” is one of the earliest medical texts documenting infectious diseases like smallpox and scrub typhus symptoms and treatments.

Moreover, he had insights into alchemy, and his work ”Bao Pu Zi: Nei Pian” described in detail the knowledge concerning the refining of gold and silver elixirs and other aspects of chemistry, introducing many properties and transformations of substances.

”Judging from the inscription, this should be the medicine jar Ge Hong used to brew herbs.”

After personally cleaning the purple pottery jar, the light in Mr. Bai’s eyes was brilliant, unable to contain himself.

Unlike the emotions of Qin Lianshan, Huo Sining, and others, if this purple pottery were merely a Jin Dynasty artifact, no matter how valuable it was, it would just be an antique. However, after the Tai Chi and ”Bao Pu Zi” inscription mark was revealed, he couldn’t help but get excited internally.

This medicine jar is not merely a simple historical artifact; it has historical research value and is a practical treasure for Chinese medicine. Such a fine piece, if just stored in a museum, would be a waste!

Qin Lianshan didn’t expect such an unexpected revelation from this cleaning. If this purple pottery truly was Ge Hong’s medicine jar, its value is immeasurable. Even he felt itchy with excitement, let alone Old Bai, who was engaged in Chinese medical theories.

”Huo girl, I am convinced now. Your judgment, this old man cannot match!”

Qin Lianshan looked at Huo Sining with envy and jealousy. He wondered how much virtue she accumulated in her past life to have such continuous good luck in this life. She’s not only skilled at stone gambling but can even excel at finding unexpected treasures.

Previously, this girl discovered a set of enamel at Dashilar and nearly turned the local police station upside down. This time she obtained a purple pottery brush washer; who knows what other surprises she might create.

”Elder Qin, you flatter me. It was sheer luck. I have been reading a lot about antiques lately and happened to come across the Hidden Mist technique, which described a case of ageing white pottery into fake items. So, when I saw that jar, it was just a whim to try my luck, nothing more.”

Huo Sining smiled modestly, indeed having come across a book on the Hidden Mist technique recently, arousing her interest in the jar.

Of course, if she hadn’t had the Heavenly Eye to accurately determine that the item was genuine, she certainly wouldn’t have believed this jar to be purple pottery.

”Luck is also part of one’s ability. If you couldn’t see through this thing, you would have treated it as a counterfeit even if you bumped into it.”

Young people should remain calm and not become arrogant from compliments, forgetting who they are.

Qin Lianshan was very pleased with Huo Sining’s humble attitude. However, he was even more interested in the purple pottery brush washer.

Such a fine purple pottery, not to mention among civilians, is not necessarily found in domestic and foreign museums. He didn’t plan on acquiring the jar into his own collection, but seeing his friend’s expression nearby, he knew this old fellow was probably set on the jar.

Thinking about this, Qin Lianshan couldn’t help but sigh, looking at Huo Sining with a bit of helplessness: ”Huo girl, are you selling this purple pottery jar? If you want to sell it, sell it to Old Bai. Don’t worry, the price will definitely satisfy you!”

Actually, Elder Qin didn’t need to say anything for Huo Sining to see Mr. Bai’s obsession with this purple pottery jar.

Because after the old gentleman cleaned this purple pottery, his gaze never left it. The expression in his eyes wasn’t pretending.

However, Huo Sining was unwilling to sell such a treasure. Regardless of how much it was worth, merely considering the rarity of this purple pottery made her reluctant to let go. She was not short of money now. Such rare antiques as this are seldom encountered. She just wished she had more good things, never disliking abundance.

”Sorry, Elder Qin. I don’t plan to sell this purple pottery for the time being. If one day I decide to part with it, I will definitely inform Mr. Bai.”

Huo Sining refused directly because she knew that antique enthusiasts possess a persistence beyond ordinary people. If her eyes and tone showed any sign of hesitation, Mr. Bai would certainly pester endlessly.
