Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1309: Chapter 1305: Preliminary Selection

On the day of the preliminary selection, Huo Sining arrived at the treasure appraisal venue early in the morning.

When she arrived at the venue, many people were already waiting. Contestants entered the examination rooms according to their registration numbers. Huo Sining’s number was toward the end, so she didn’t say much and directly found a seat in the hall to sit down.

”Are you here to sign up for this treasure appraisal event too?”

Upon seeing Huo Sining so young, a middle-aged man in his forties looked Huo Sining up and down skeptically before asking.

Huo Sining smiled and nodded, raising the exam certificate in her hand and looking towards the examination rooms with their tightly closed doors.

Most of the candidates who entered the examination rooms came out within ten minutes. Huo Sining felt curious and couldn’t help but wonder what the content of the preliminary test might be.

It’s important to know that treasure appraisal exams are different from other subjects; they require not only keen eyesight but also time.

Many people need a long time to identify issues on antiques when appraising treasures. How could they appraise antiques with such a quick exam pace?

While thinking about this, Huo Sining’s expression hardly changed. It wasn’t until someone called her exam number that she stood up from her chair and walked unhurriedly toward the examination room.

As she walked over, Huo Sining, indeed, was quite eye-catching.

However, these gazes carried no admiration, but rather ridicule and disdain.

Those waiting in the hall saw Huo Sining being so young and a woman, and had a look of contempt.

After all, in the antique circle, there are few women doing antique appraisals, and moreover, Huo Sining looked so immature, so basically everyone held a disdainful and even discriminatory attitude towards her.

Huo Sining didn’t mind the gazes and thoughts of those people; she walked into the examination room without looking aside.

As she pushed the door open, several examiners inside the examination room couldn’t help but frown, thinking that a staff member mistakenly entered the wrong room. Just as they were about to reprimand her, Huo Sining’s next words stunned those examiners.

”Hello, teachers. I’m candidate number one hundred fifty-two.”

Is this young woman really here to participate in the appraisal event?

Those examiners looked at Huo Sining with suspicion.

However, they were only the invigilators, not responsible for assessing candidates’ qualifications, so no one spoke.

The examiner seated in the center asked uncertainly, ”Number one hundred fifty-two, Huo Sining, is it?”

Seeing Huo Sining nod, the examiner continued to ask, ”Alright, Miss Huo Sining. Could you tell us what the most important thing for an appraiser is, in your opinion?”

Is this considered straightforward?

Huo Sining hadn’t expected the examiner to pose such a tricky question directly and subtly frowned.

After a moment of silence, Huo Sining earnestly looked at the querying examiner and said word by word, ”I think the most important thing should be to seek truth from facts and maintain one’s original intention.”

The examiner was a bit stunned upon hearing Huo Sining’s response.

Having seen many previous candidates give long, formulaic answers, an answer as concise and distinctive as Huo Sining’s was indeed surprising.

Yet, the examiner seemed delighted by Huo Sining’s seemingly ordinary answer. After savoring it for a moment, he nodded, a faint smile flickering in his eyes, and began writing swiftly on Huo Sining’s evaluation sheet.

Other examiners also showed thoughtful expressions when they looked at Huo Sining.

”The preliminary question is very simple. Do you see the wooden box on the table beside you? Inside that box, there are ten fragments of Blue and White Porcelain; some are genuine, some are fake. Please select the genuine fragments within ten minutes.”

After finishing the record, the examiner sitting in the center addressed Huo Sining.

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining turned her head to look at the table beside her, and indeed, there was a wooden box with a lid.

Porcelain fragments? Huo Sining felt surprised, instinctively raised her brows.

She walked over and opened the box, seeing Blue and White Porcelain fragments scattered inside. A faint smile appeared at the corner of Huo Sining’s mouth.

This game, she had played long before apprenticing Zhou Shitao. Back when she was at Panjiayuan Yucailou, Huo Sining could pick out ten Genuine Porcelain Fragments from hundreds within a few minutes. It was precisely because of this that she caught her senior brother Ji Kun’s attention, leading Zhou Shitao to take an interest in her and insist on accepting her as a Closed-door Disciple.

Compared to the porcelain fragment cylinder at Yucailou, the ten fragments of Blue and White Porcelain in the wooden box were truly no challenge for Huo Sining.

Within less than a minute, Huo Sining, without hesitation, picked out among them three Daoguang official kiln porcelains; the remaining seven were modern craftsmanship from Jingdezhen, without a trace of warmth.

Seeing Huo Sining’s speed, the examiners were quite astonished.

They initially thought this woman was just fooling around; unexpectedly, her skill turned out to be so remarkable, thoroughly changing the examiners’ views on Huo Sining.

After the exam ended, Huo Sining confidently walked out of the examination room.

Huo Sining looked relaxed, but the candidates outside didn’t think the same.

Because most of the previous candidates finished the test in about ten minutes, yet Huo Sining stepped out of the examination room in under three minutes. Although there was little expression on Huo Sining’s face, those waiting in the hall all bore looks of disdain.

Everyone thought Huo Sining was merely here for fun. They assumed her quick exit was due to being unable to answer the examiners’ questions and being driven out. Otherwise, how could she be so swift?

The preliminary results were released the next morning. Zhou Shitao called Huo Sining early to inform her that she had passed.

Huo Sining wasn’t surprised by the result; that morning she received a call from Su Anning, saying she had just returned to the country and hadn’t yet visited the antique market. Since Huo Sining was right in the Imperial Capital, Su Anning wanted to drag her along for a stroll at Panjiayuan Dashilar.

Unable to refuse, Huo Sining had to agree.

Recently, Su Anning was somewhat glued to her, calling often or directly visiting the villa where she and Gu Xu stayed.

Though Su Anning was somewhat willful and arrogant, her nature was quite kind. After interacting with her a few times, Huo Sining discovered this girl wasn’t actually as superficial as she appeared. Her skill in antiques might even be a notch higher than Su Qingqing’s.
