Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1312: Chapter 1308: Struck It Rich

The vendor doesn’t care about what’s crude or not; he’s selling antiques, so all he wants is for things to be sold. As for the status of the buyers, he doesn’t really concern himself with that.

The stalls at Dashilar are all movable. Generally, vendors here don’t stay in one place for long.

Rental spaces here are calculated by the week. Vendors rent a stall for a week, and once the period ends and they’ve sold most of their items, they move to other places to sell and collect some vintage trinkets.

This young stall owner isn’t a local either; he’s a trader who collects items from antique market hubs monthly, picking up things that catch his eye. Sometimes he finds older items, buys them, and resells them at the Antique Street.

The black pottery jar in Huo Sining’s hand was something he got from an old farmer’s house in the countryside for ten yuan a while ago.

At that time, the farmer used the jar to provide water and store dog food for his rural dog. Seeing it looked like an old item, he casually paid ten yuan to acquire it.

However, the jar is so ugly that it sat at his stall for several days without anyone wanting to buy it, so he tossed it into a pile of disposable items.

”I’ll take it for fifty yuan.”

Huo Sining could guess how these vendors acquired their items, so she was quite ruthless in bargaining, directly cutting off zeros in the price.

She acted very much like an outsider, unfamiliar with the ways of the world, with a look of extreme reluctance, as if she was just buying the jar to store pickles.

The stall owner changed his face upon hearing this, acting as if in great distress:

”Miss, this is Dashilar! Where can you buy an antique jar for fifty yuan? I spent four hundred just to acquire this thing, not counting transportation. You should at least give me a fair price, right? Five hundred yuan. Take it or leave it!”

Huo Sining smiled slightly, said nothing, took out five hundred yuan from her bag, slapped it into the vendor’s hand, and turned away with the jar without looking back.

The vendor was well-versed in business, fully understanding customer psychology.

He was initially quite pleased to sell a five-yuan item for five hundred yuan, but seeing Huo Sining’s triumphant smile made his expression freeze and he felt he had been tricked.

Clearly, this woman was playing the fool to outsmart him!

Yet, the item was sold, and no matter how he regretted it, it was too late.

Remembering that the jar was used for feeding dog food, and with the woman saying she’d use it to store pickles, he couldn’t help but curse to himself: Damn it, you’re unbothered to use something a dog used, be careful you don’t catch rabies!

It’s classic sour grapes. The vendor didn’t know that the item he disregarded was actually a thousand-year-old artifact. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be feeling smug now; he’d be jumping at Huo Sining for a fight.

Once Huo Sining turned a corner and could no longer see the stall or vendor, she couldn’t resist letting out a laugh.

People around her cast curious glances, and Qibao and Liu Pengcheng, who had been following her, looked at Huo Sining, puzzled by her laughter.

”Huo, why are you laughing like an idiot? What’s so funny about the jar you bought?”

Huo Sining wore a mysterious expression, deliberately keeping silent, leaving Liu Pengcheng feeling like something was scratching at his heart.

But Su Anning looked thoughtfully at the jar in Huo Sining’s hand, as she felt something was off about it once Huo insisted on buying it.

Though she hadn’t noticed at the stall, now under the sunlight, Su Anning saw the jar subtly emitting a faint purple hue.

Seeing this, a hint of surprise flashed in Su Anning’s eyes.

”Ningning, could this jar be purple pottery?”

Huo Sining looked at Su Anning in surprise. Purple pottery is a rare item few would notice, and she didn’t expect Su Anning to recognize it — this little girl is not to be underestimated.

Purple pottery is a product of the Jin Dynasty’s Longshan culture, with more refined craftsmanship than primitive painted pottery, reaching the artistic level rivaling porcelain due to its meticulous and unique workmanship.

Because purple pottery is extremely rare, a genuine piece is more precious than a set of Luminescent Cups.

In antique history, purple pottery wasn’t considered prestigious and wasn’t acknowledged by archaeology enthusiasts until archaeologists discovered at Rizhao, Shandong, thousands of years old rare purple pottery pieces like a hollow egg-shell cup.

The cup is a bright deep purple, without glaze, thin yet hard, with the thickest wall no more than five millimeters, weighing only sixty grams, its craftsmanship so exquisite it’s considered a world-class masterpiece.

Because of this cup, purple pottery became a typical representative of Jin Dynasty pottery civilization, its pure material and simple form representing an ultimate beauty, holding an important place in China’s ceramic arts, deemed by global archaeological circles as ”the most perfect art of Earth’s millennium civilization.”

The purple pottery Huo Sining found, though concealed with Hidden Mist technique, she was sure its finery didn’t lose out to that egg-shell cup.

Purple pottery is already extremely rare, especially thin-bodied masterpieces, even more so.

The pottery is covered with a layer of black grease; Huo Sining was unsure of its purpose. If it’s one of a kind, its value would be immeasurable.

Liu Pengcheng knew little of antiques. Hearing Su Anning mention purple pottery, he was surprised.

Having heard some legends about purple pottery, he was astonished to learn that the dull item in Huo Sining’s hand was the legendary purple pottery, causing him to widen his eyes.

”Is this jar really purple pottery? How much is it worth?” Seeing Huo Sining only smiling, neither affirming nor denying, Su Anning’s guess was further solidified.

She didn’t care much for the history of purple pottery but was more interested in how much the five-hundred-yuan jar Huo Sining bought was worth.

Huo Sining glanced around, then smiled mysteriously and said:

”If sold privately, of course, the price would be much lower. But if taken to an auction house, this jar would fetch a minimum of five million. The exact selling price is hard to say.”
