Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 675: Chapter 672: Women Are No Less Courageous Than Men

The first round was only an hour long, and as Huo Sining drew the queen of diamonds, the eight o’clock chime rang out, signaling the end of the first round.

The doors to the casino opened, the croupier who specialized in counting chips came in first, followed by the various shareholders, who entered one after another.

It wasn’t until all the chips had slid over to Huo Sining’s side that Lei Dongcheng snapped back to reality, slumping down into his chair.

Lei Dongcheng had been on his guard from the moment Huo Sining started playing, knowing well that someone invited by the Gambling King was no ordinary player.

Lei Dongcheng was unlike those foreign gamblers or the tycoons watching in the cabin; he never underestimated women. Perhaps it was because his grandfather had taught him from a young age that, in the casino, sharks do not show their teeth until they smell blood.

Lei’s grandfather had an effective way of teaching his grandson, and his family rules were extremely strict.

He taught Lei Dongcheng to not care about titles, as there is no eternal glory in the casino.

This was a lesson learned from Lei’s grandfather’s own experience. Back in Cambridge, countless students learned Texas Hold’em along with him, some even playing better, but in the end, none of them made it back, and he did.

That was because he always remembered to only play the smallest games.

”Dongzi, always remember to leave a way out for others and never touch their bottom line. Sharks only attack when they smell blood,” his grandfather used to say.

These lessons from Lei’s grandfather were not only about gambling but also represented a high standard of personal conduct.

Because of this, Lei Dongcheng had carved out his own unique path over the years. He had his own way of playing cards; he won but never too much; he lost but never too badly. Although he didn’t achieve great success, he at least had a place for himself in China.

However, this time, he hadn’t been able to control his own desire. After getting that five of hearts, he kept urging himself to follow through, to go all in.

Lei Dongcheng truly believed that after so many years of hard work, his success or failure would hinge on this very moment.

If this hand were to be revealed, it would become the most classic gambling match of his life.

He imagined that after this round, he would be able to truly make a name for himself, defeat the Song Group, the Sharon Hotel would invite him as an independent guest, and he might even break into Las Vegas.

Just thinking about all this, a burning desire flared up in his eyes, scorching them red with its heat.

Desire is the most terrifying thing in the world, as it can make people overlook risks, become obstinate, and even, one could say, lose their reason.

Holding onto rational thought is key to winning at cards, but Lei Dongcheng forgot this, which is why he lost the match, without even a chance to recover.

At this moment, the chips of all twenty-four contestants had been tallied up, with the rankings displayed on the large LCD screen in the lobby.

Seeing Huo Sining at the top with 19.2 million in chips caused everyone to catch their breath, as Carlos and Danio exchanged looks of shock.

They had been fighting against their adversaries and naturally didn’t notice Huo Sining’s last brilliant hand.

Moreover, they were well aware that winning all of an opponent’s chips in just two hours was an astonishing feat, even if the opponents they faced were incompetent.

Right behind Huo Sining in the rankings were Danio and Carlos, with one holding 9.5 million and the other 8.6 million in chips; combined, their total didn’t even match Huo Sining’s alone.

This outcome left those who hadn’t placed their bets on Huo Sining earlier regretting their choice, wondering how much they could have earned if they had bet on her then.

Carlos and Danio also dared not underestimate this Chinese woman anymore, previously they had been adamant about leaving the Song Group with nothing, but now it felt like they didn’t have the confidence to utter these words again.

Because in the second and final round, they could only use the chips they had won in the first round, and were not allowed to add any more.

Now Huo Sining alone had more chips than both Ye Xiang’s and the other family’s combined, which would frustrate anyone.

Ye Rongbin’s face was already looking quite displeased, and the Xiang Brothers were even less able to contain their anger, practically fuming at this point.

But who could they blame?

Such a competition took place in full view of everyone, and no one dared to cheat or pull a fast one.

Even though Huo Sining hadn’t revealed her cards from beginning to end, she simply couldn’t help that she had good luck.

Catching all four Queens in hand, who could contend with such an abnormality?

The whole field was in awe!

This was the effect Huo Sining wanted, to at least make those two white men wary of her, so that during the finals, if she were to employ tricks, they’d be hesitant to make a move.

In a casino, it’s all about the presence, the stronger the presence, the more pressure it can create on the opponents.

Even if Huo Sining held a bad hand, when she bet all-in, the opponents would still be wary.

There was a half-hour rest period at halftime, and Huo Sining had just followed Song Chaoying out of the main casino hall when she was suddenly hugged by Song Chaojing.

The young girl’s eyes were wide as she stared at her, with glowing ”star eyes” trying to look adorable at Huo Sining.

”Sister Ning Ning, you were simply amazing! How did you know that the card underneath would definitely be the Queen of Diamonds? If I had known how impressive you are, I would have apprenticed under you. My daddy’s Ting Shai is not reliable at all, nowhere near as cool as your trick. That last move where you threw the card was just too cool! Even cooler than the pose the Gambling Queen strikes in the movies!”

The young girl made no attempt to hide her admiration for Huo Sining, speaking animatedly with pride written all over her face.

Huo Sining’s forehead was lined with black lines as she broke out in a cold sweat.

What a thing to say, comparing her to the Gambling King, wasn’t that just asking for trouble?

Huo Sining quickly looked towards Song Chaoying, afraid that she would be upset after hearing these words.

To her surprise, Song Chaoying’s face was also beaming with a radiant smile, completely unaffected by her sister’s words.

”That’s right, unless my hidden card was a Queen, but it doesn’t mean I have no chance of winning, right?”

Song Chaojing, imitating Huo Sining’s cool tone, repeated Huo Sining’s final words to Lei Dongcheng, then burst out into hearty laughter, exclaiming loudly:

”You didn’t see it, haha, the faces of Xiang Zhenhua and the others turned green!”

Huo Sining’s face did not show any signs of smugness, which made Song Chaoying feel even more reassured. It seemed her father’s judgment of people was as relentlessly sharp as ever. Compared to her father, she still had a long way to go.

Just as Song Chaoying was about to take Huo Sining to the VIP room to rest, Ye Rongbin approached with the two white men in tow.
