Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 656: Chapter 653: She Cheated!

This piece of Worm Jade was personally sought by Liu Yuxuan after traveling to distant mountains in Myanmar, and it took her several months of effort to obtain it. Huo Sining hadn’t contributed a single bit of effort or a penny, yet now she wanted to split it in half—how could this be acceptable to her?

When Huo Sining heard what Liu Yuxuan said, coldness flashed in her eyes, and her expression instantly turned icy:

”Miss Liu Yuxuan, the gamble over the stone was a matter of mutual consent. You have to accept the loss if you’re willing to bet. If you couldn’t afford to gamble, you shouldn’t have invited me to participate in the first place. Since you asked me to gamble, you should have been prepared for the worst possible outcome. What do you mean by saying this now? Is this the grace and hospitality of the Liu Family? Do you mean to say that when you win, it’s the Liu Family who is just, but if you lose, you renege on everything and level the score? Does the Liu Family get the final say in the world of jade gambling?”

”Even if it is our family who gets the final say, what can you do about it? You are nothing more than a country bumpkin with little background. How can you expect others to treat you? Grandfather, let’s not bother with her. This kind of woman, just give her a few hundred bucks and send her on her way...”

The more Liu Yuxuan spoke, the more outrageous she became. Standing by, Liu Chongren’s face grew darker and darker, and eventually, he couldn’t hold back anymore. He slapped his granddaughter and roared, ”Shut up!”

Liu Yuxuan was stunned by the slap from Qin Lianshan and it took her a good five seconds to come back to her senses.

”Grandfather, you hit me...”

Liu Yuxuan simply couldn’t believe it. Her grandfather, who had always doted on her, had actually raised his hand to hit her.

Feeling wronged and saddened, she couldn’t help turning her head and giving Huo Sining a resentful glare before running out of the reception hall without looking back.

Huo Sining just stood aside, watching the drama unfold with an indifferent smile, as if all of these matters had nothing to do with her, an outsider.

”Miss Huo, my granddaughter doesn’t understand, and what she said just now was thoughtless. I hope you don’t take it to heart.”

Although his heart was filled with reluctance, Liu Chongren still controlled his emotions, tried to soften his expression, and smiled kindly.

Huo Sining shrugged, her expression a half-smile: ”I suppose so. Everyone here came in respect of Elder Mr. Liu’s reputation, admiring Master Liu’s character. With Master Liu’s integrity, he would never renege on his word.”

Seeing Huo Sining’s impervious demeanor, Liu Chongren felt frustrated but managed to keep any emotion from showing on his face:

”Miss Huo is right. The old man merely didn’t want to see such a treasure ruined by being cut open. However, since Miss Huo insists, let’s do this: I will use a ten percent share of the Liu Family Tianyuan Jewelry Store to compensate Miss Huo for this piece of Worm Jade. How about that?”

This offer caused an uproar the moment the words left his lips, even Liu Yunhui, who was on the stage, looked astonished.

The Liu Family Tianyuan Jewelry Store was not just about dealing in jadeite in China—it touched on all kinds of jewelry and antiques. A ten percent share in exchange for half a piece of Worm Jade was an incredibly profitable deal for Huo Sining.

Everyone felt Huo Sining had really made a huge profit this time, but what they found even more unbelievable was that Huo Sining actually refused Liu Chongren’s proposal.

”Elder Mr. Liu, I’ll stick to what I said: if it’s not meant for me, I won’t covet a single cent. But what belongs to me, if I don’t hold it in my hands, I won’t feel at ease.”

Huo Sining did not believe in pie falling from the sky, especially not when it involved the Liu Family. It was definitely not a wise choice to be involved with them.

She had no clue about corporate shares. With Liu Chongren’s shrewdness and cunning, by the time she realized it, her shares would have been eaten away without her knowing, so it was better to take the money, which was more tangible.

Liu Chongren was not stupid; over the years, he had been developing the Liu family’s business. However, he gradually felt it becoming overwhelming, and each of his sons and grandsons lacked talent. The only presentable one, Liu Yuxuan, also lacked breadth of vision and strategic cunning, and was not calm and collected enough.

Thinking long-term, Liu Chongren urgently wanted to find a few capable people to support the family business. Therefore, he set his sights on Huo Sining, hoping to tie this jadeite gambling genius to the Liu family’s ship through shares.

But Liu Chongren did not expect that Huo Sining, the young lady, would actually refuse his friendly gesture.

He was taken aback and looked at Huo Sining strangely before asking, ”Then, what do you suggest, Miss Huo?”

Huo Sining smiled politely, ”My suggestion is that it’s better to get the funds than the shares. Just now, people were discussing that the value of this Worm Jade is at least two billion, and if it’s presented at an international exhibition, it could be even higher.”

”Given the circumstances, I won’t ask for more. Let’s calculate at two billion; I’ll take half, one billion will do. This way, Master Liu can keep the integrity of the Worm Jade and not break his promise to me. What do you think of this proposal?”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Liu Yunhui’s face changed instantly.

Ten billion yuan. Although the Liu family was a large enterprise, where would they get such a substantial amount of liquid assets on short notice? Were they supposed to divert the operating capital from ongoing projects?

”This...” A strained expression appeared on Liu Chongren’s face.

”I don’t think a family enterprise as large as ours cannot come up with ten billion. If Master Liu disagrees with resolving it this way, then let’s stick to the previous agreement and cut the Worm Jade open,” Huo Sining said, refusing to give Liu Chongren more time to ponder. If they had extra time to think, they might come up with ways to deal with her.

Liu Chongren faced a difficult choice, hesitated for a long time, and finally made up his mind, signaling to Liu Yunhui with a wave of his hand, ”Yunhui, just do as Miss Huo says. Go and prepare the funds quickly!”

It seemed that the matter was settled, but suddenly, a discordant voice rang out, ”Elder Mr. Liu, please wait! It must be that woman Huo Sining who cheated! With Miss Liu Yuxuan’s capabilities, she could not possibly lose to that woman!”

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone turned in surprise towards Wu Linger who had suddenly stood up.

Zhou Zhen, standing beside her, turned red as a tomato when he heard Wu Linger spout such nonsensical words. He wished he could burrow into a hole and disappear.

He had come to the banquet with Wu Linger, but he had not the slightest desire to attract everyone’s attention at such an event in this manner.

Zhou Zhen had not anticipated that Wu Linger, a woman with more beauty than brains, would suddenly butt in. She didn’t understand at all the first thing about jadeite gambling; did she even realize the nonsense she was spouting?

Huo Sining was already accustomed to Wu Linger’s antics, so she was not at all surprised that Wu Linger would make such a shocking statement.
