Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 662: Chapter 659: Every Family Has Its Own Hardships

On the other end of the line, something was said, and Bai Yishan interrupted excitedly:

”There’s no need for you to say anything. Do you know why I preferred to stay abroad all these years and refused to return home? It’s because I absolutely didn’t want to discuss these filthy matters with you! Bai Guoming, I just want to ask you, haven’t you felt a bit of guilt, after all these years?”

On the phone, Bai Guoming seemed to be trying desperately to justify something, but the more Bai Yishan listened, the more impatient she became, directly cutting him off:

”Enough, let me tell you, there is no room for negotiation on this matter. If you continue to hassle me, I won’t hesitate to expose what you did back then! You don’t have to pretend either; don’t think I don’t know what schemes you’re planning. How is the rise and fall of your company any of my business? Even if it goes bankrupt, the ones who will suffer losses are you and your wife!”

After saying that, Bai Yishan decisively hung up the phone and then sat down on the couch, lost in thought.

Seeing her expression was off, and adding the conversation of Bai Yishan’s just now, Huo Sining didn’t need to think hard to guess most of it.

”Coming this early, you must have skipped breakfast. Auntie Li, please go make another bowl of wonton soup,” said Huo Sining, signaling to Auntie Li who hurried into the kitchen to get busy.

Seeing Bai Yishan sitting in a daze, Huo Sining couldn’t help but sigh.

Although Huo Sining hadn’t known Bai Yishan for long, from strangers to good sisters and business partners, Huo Sining knew quite a bit about Bai Yishan’s affairs.

The Bai Family was a family of wealthy merchants, naturally filled with melodrama.

It was said that shortly after Bai Yishan went abroad to study, her father fell gravely ill. Knowing he didn’t have long to live, he divided the family fortune in two, half for Bai Guoming, half for Bai Yishan.

What Bai Yishan did not expect, however, was that Bai Guoming’s wife—her sister-in-law—insisted that Bai Guoming, being the only son, should inherit the entire estate. Furthermore, she argued that since Bai Yishan would marry and leave eventually, she should not be entitled to half the assets.

Bai Guoming’s wife disagreed with this plan and conspired with Bai Guoming to hide the will, additionally claiming to outsiders that their father passed away so suddenly that he had no chance to make a will.

His wife was quite something. Fearing that Bai Yishan would make trouble over the inheritance upon their father’s death, she even failed to notify Bai Yishan, who was abroad, of the funeral.

It was only after Mr. Bai was buried and everything had settled down and Bai Guoming had transferred all the assets into his name, that he informed Bai Yishan of their father’s death.

Bai Yishan hurried back to her country, wept loudly in front of her father’s tombstone, aware there was some foul play at work. However, she did not argue. With the symbolic ten million her brother had tossed her way, she moved out of the Bai Family home, set up her own company and studio, planning to one day slap her brother and sister-in-law in the face with her success.

Huo Sining also felt deep sorrow for the Bai Family’s troubles. Though family scandals are not to be disclosed, the affairs of the Bai Family were hardly a secret in S City.

People like Bai Guoming, Huo Sining looked down on them with disdain. For a bit of money, they disregard brotherly and sisterly love; if that’s how he treats his own little sister, can such a person’s character be trusted and relied on?

Knowing that Bai Yishan was in a bad mood, Huo Sining didn’t know how to comfort her and could only sit quietly by her side, keeping her company.

After a while, Bai Yishan turned to Huo Sining with a pitiful look and said, ”Ningning, I’ve completely fallen out with Bai Guoming this time, and I guess it won’t be long before I confront him. From now on, I’m truly homeless!”

Huo Sining was accustomed to Bai Yishan’s strong-willed image and was now seeing her pretend to be pitiful, playing dumb and acting cute; yet, in her eyes flashed an unmistakable sadness. Sighing inwardly, she nodded slightly with a smile, ”I’m all alone too. As long as you don’t mind, from now on we’ll be as close as sisters, and we’ll support each other through life.”

Huo Sining didn’t ask what had happened, but without needing to think, she knew it must be related to that despicable brother-in-law and his wife.

In Huo Sining’s view, given Bai Yishan’s personality, she would surely keep it to herself, but to Huo Sining’s surprise, this time she didn’t even need to ask; Bai Yishan took the initiative to explain everything on her own.

”That bitch somehow found out about the thirty million in my account and conned me with Bai Guoming, claiming the family company was short of liquid funds and needed to borrow money from me!”

”You would never guess what I heard when I was returning home! They were plotting to transfer the money out as soon as I lent it to them! What a brilliant scheme; they really think I’m an idiot to be manipulated by them!”

The thirty million Bai Yishan mentioned was the money she had earned over the year, including the profits from Jade Beauty and the money she made following Huo Sining to Pingzhou and Ruili to purchase rough jadeite at the Jade Public Plate.

With so much spare cash on hand, it’s no wonder her brother and sister-in-law coveted it.

”What angers me most is that Bai Guoming was duped by that sister-in-law, really thinking of borrowing money from me under the guise of the Bai Family company! They are really dreaming, thinking I’m unaware of their scheme; if I actually lent them the money, it would be like throwing a meat bun to a dog, I’d never see the day it’s returned! Pah, as of now, the Bai Family company has nothing to do with me, and even if it’s just earning interest in the bank, I would not lend any to them!”

”That woman is truly a masterpiece of human garbage; I really don’t know what Bai Guoming saw in her, to actually fall for someone like her!”

These days, there’s no shortage of relatives who are scumbags and disputes over property, but to shamelessly covet the property of a younger sister-in-law is truly despicable.

Huo Sining was also filled with righteous indignation, and at the same time, she made up her mind that, given the chance, she would certainly teach Bai Guoming and his wife a good lesson and spice up their lives, to give them a taste of their own medicine!

On the day of the trip to Xiangjiang, personnel from the Song Group personally came to S City to pick people up. Besides Huo Sining, there were Gu Xu, Ouyang Jun, Su Qingqing, and Bai Yishan joining the trip, which wasn’t too boring.

On the plane, Su Qingqing and Bai Yishan excitedly inquired about the high seas gambling ship from the Song Group staff. They weren’t particularly interested in gambling itself, but when they heard that on the cruise ship, besides gambling, they could enjoy the scenery on deck, go fishing for sea fish, and even dive, and that the entertainment facilities on the high seas cruise were very complete, the two of them were overjoyed. They kept clamoring to try this and that.

Seeing Bai Yishan and Su Qingqing pestering the Song Group staff and laughing heartily from time to time, Huo Sining thought it looked like Bai Yishan had already put the Bai Family affair behind her.
