Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 659: Chapter 656 Xiaochen Song Seeks Help

Other people felt Huo Sining was at a loss, but Huo Sining herself didn’t have much of a reaction; she took the money and left without needing to deal with the mess she had created.

Ignoring the undercurrents stirring within the Liu Family, Huo Sining and her group prepared early in the morning to head to the airport for a flight back to S City. Unexpectedly, on their way to the airport, she received a call from a stranger.

”Miss Huo, this is Song Xiaochen.”

Huo Sining paused, taking a while to remember who Song Xiaochen was: ”Mr. Song, hello, may I ask what’s the matter?”

”Can’t I disturb Miss Huo if there’s nothing important? I was wondering if you have time now, could we go for some morning tea?” Song Xiaochen laughed carelessly on the other end of the phone.

”Mr. Song is joking. You’re in Ao City, I’m in S City, and you want to have morning tea with me? Where would we go for that?” Huo Sining said, feeling speechless.

Gu Xu, listening by the side, couldn’t help but frown. He mentally reviewed all the people he knew that Huo Sining might recognize, but couldn’t think of anyone with the surname Song.

Mr. Song from Ao City? Could it be that kid Song Xiaochen?

Thinking back to April when Huo Sining had gone with Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian to the Ao City Casino to have fun, Gu Xu instantly guessed who the caller was.

”Naturally, it’s the Cantonese morning tea from old Guangcheng. I have been waiting, but since Miss Huo left last time, it has been over two months since you last played at my casino, so I had to come and find Miss Huo myself.”

Huo Sining was greatly surprised: ”Mr. Song, you’re in Guangcheng?!”

”Yes. Miss Huo caused such a commotion yesterday in Guangcheng, and we’ve all heard about it here in Ao City. I arrived in Guangcheng early this morning, especially to invite Miss Huo for morning tea. I just don’t know if Miss Huo would grace me with her presence.”

Huo Sining glanced at the four people accompanying her, her face showing embarrassment, and said with difficulty, ”I’m really sorry, Mr. Song. I truly don’t have the time today; I’m about to board the plane.”

Song Xiaochen had anticipated Huo Sining’s refusal and simply said, ”I’m at gate B2 in the airport.”

”What?” Huo Sining was frozen on the spot at hearing this.

”I’m waiting here; I came specifically to see you today,” insisted Song Xiaochen.

At that point, it was truly hard for Huo Sining to refuse any longer, and she could only agree, ”All right then, Mr. Song, please wait at the airport; we’ll be there soon.”

After Huo Sining hung up, the confusion was clear on the faces of the others in the car, especially on Gu Xu and Ouyang Jun, who had grown up with Song Xiaochen and were very clear about the young man’s character.

”What’s that kid’s intention, coming all the way here so eagerly to treat us to morning tea?” Ouyang Jun’s eyes widened with disapproval on his face, feeling that the kid was up to no good.

Gu Xu also felt somewhat uneasy, feeling as if the wife he had yet to embrace was already being targeted by other wolves.

”Could it be because last time in Ao City, Ningning won at dice against him, and he’s not pleased about it, so he wants to settle the score?” Bai Yishan speculated.

”That’s impossible,” Huo Sining shook her head, denying Bai Yishan’s guess.

If Song Xiaochen was upset and wanted to settle the score, he would have made his move back when Huo Sining and the others were in Ao City, not let them leave safely and wait aimlessly for such a long time.

Although Huo Sining was not familiar with Song Xiaochen as a person, she could guess something about him from his father.

The Gambling King was not only skilled at gambling, but his eye for people was also incredibly sharp.

That Song Xiaochen could stand out among the many sons and daughters of the Gambling King and gain his favor showed that he was no ordinary person. Such a man, surely, wouldn’t be so petty.

Moreover, from the phone call just now, Huo Sining had heard Song Xiaochen’s tone to be very calm, without any hint of seeking a quarrel. On the contrary, it carried a sense of urgency, as if he wanted to discuss something with her.

”I think he must be asking for a favor. It seems like a thorny issue if even he can’t solve it.”

Even though she was displeased, Gu Xu still understood Song Xiaochen. He wouldn’t pick a fight without reason. There must be something he needed from Huo Sining, or he wouldn’t be so eager.

But Gu Xu’s words left Huo Sining feeling puzzled.

Song Xiaochen was the favorite son of the Gambling King. What could he possibly be unable to handle that he would ask for her help?

Huo Sining didn’t think she could be of any help to Song Xiaochen, but little did she know that this time, Song Xiaochen truly faced a problematic situation. He had no way to resolve it and had thus turned to Huo Sining for assistance.

Sitting in the morning tea house inside Guangcheng Airport, stirring the unique morning tea of Guangcheng with her spoon, Huo Sining was in no mood to savor it; she was stunned by Song Xiaochen’s request.

”Gambling on the high seas? You’re asking me to go? Mr. Song, you must be joking. I don’t understand gambling. The last time I won against you, it was just good luck. You’re asking me to help you gamble on the high seas, and the stake is your Song Group’s shares. I’m sorry, but I really can’t.”

In Macau, China’s Gambling City, the first to introduce gambling on the high seas was Ye Han, a former gambling legend.

Ye Han had once collaborated with the Gambling King, Song Lifeng, to contract a casino, but was later forced out.

Ye Han, as skilled as the Song Gambling King, was naturally unwilling to accept being sidelined, so he chartered a cruise ship and introduced gambling on the high seas.

So-called high-seas gambling happens literally on the high seas.

Gambling in Hong Kong is illegal, but on the high seas, it’s not subject to national laws. Thus, as long as a gambling ship reached international waters, Hong Kong’s laws and regulations couldn’t touch it.

This novel form of gambling quickly became a new favorite among gamblers.

Over the past two decades, high-seas gambling had been competing with Macau Casinos and had successfully siphoned off much of the traditional casinos’ client base.

Later, Ye Han sold the shares of the gambling ship ”Oriental Princess” to the Xiang Brothers.

Under such circumstances, the Gambling King Song Lifeng also had no choice but to buy a cruise ship at a loss to join the high-seas gambling fray, along with some smaller casinos wishing to grab their share.

As the casinos battled for shares of high-seas gambling, it meant unequal distribution, so the major shareholders agreed to hold a gambling pact every three years. The final profits and losses from the gambling would determine the distribution of cruise ship shares.

According to tradition, the Song Family would send someone to participate in the gambling pact, but as the Gambling King had grown old, he naturally couldn’t be involved.

Over the years, since Song Lifeng had already delegated authority, and Song Xiaochen had thoroughly learned his craft. He had been single-handedly managing high-seas gambling and had never failed.

However, this time was different. With less than ten days before the gambling pact, Song Xiaochen developed a serious ear problem that required him to travel to the United States for surgery as soon as possible.
