Urban Martial Saint

Upon learning that the Sun Shooting Bow might be hidden on Mount Wendao, everyone was utterly shaken. After all, their pursuit of Ye Qing had always been for this Sun Shooting Bow.

Even though they hadn’t been able to kill Ye Qing or defeat the Sword Saint Sect, if they could obtain the Sun Shooting Bow, it would be quite an accomplishment. When Wanyan Hongfeng emerged from seclusion, this would be a significant achievement.

”Mount Wendao...” An elder immediately looked at Wanyan Second Master and said, ”Second Brother, I know where Mount Wendao is. Why don’t you send me some people, and I’ll go to Mount Wendao right away to bring back the Sun Shooting Bow for you?”

As soon as the elder finished speaking, another elder immediately said, ”Second Brother, I’ve been to Mount Wendao. I’m more familiar with the paths inside; it would be better for me to go.”

”Second Brother, I’ll go. I’m suitable for the task...”

Suddenly, everyone started arguing, all wanting to go to Mount Wendao to retrieve the Sun Shooting Bow. Considering that bringing back the Sun Shooting Bow was indeed a monumental achievement, none wanted the credit to fall on someone else; everyone wished to be the one to retrieve the Bow and earn the merit.

Facing everyone’s disputes, Wanyan Second Master remained indifferent, seemingly ignoring their words. After waiting for a while, as the argument gradually subsided, he calmly said, ”Continue with what you were saying!”

A middle-aged man nodded and said, ”According to your instructions, we’ve investigated Mount Wendao. Surroundings of Mount Wendao are not particularly remarkable, but the mountain hosts numerous snake swarms, which are quite dangerous. The number of snakes is considerable, but based on our estimates, they are nowhere close to our swarm of Long-toothed Rats, hence they shouldn’t pose much of a threat to us. The only real challenge is the monster you mentioned earlier, whose fighting capability might be beyond our expectations and is the toughest to deal with. If we can take care of this monster, Mount Wendao poses no danger. On the contrary, I’ve found that there’s a significant amount of aged Jade Ganoderma growing on the mountain, known for its potent medicinal properties, which is a specialty of Mount Wendao.”

Upon hearing this, everyone at the scene was taken aback as they were not familiar with the situation on Mount Wendao. Although Wanyan Second Master had suffered a great loss at Mount Wendao before, Wanyan Hongfeng had instructed him not to let this information leak out, so members of the Wanyan Family were unaware of the setback. Now, hearing there was a monster on Mount Wendao, and knowing its battle prowess exceeded even their expectations, it really made one ponder: just how formidable was this monster?

Wanyan Second Master nodded, ”In other words, if we ascend the mountain, our swarm of Long-toothed Rats can defeat the serpent swarm of Mount Wendao?”

”No problem!” The middle-aged man nodded promptly, ”The extent of Mount Wendao is limited, and based on the habitat of the snakes, even if the swarm is large, it is definitely not a match for our swarm of Long-toothed Rats. Therefore, if we move to attack Mount Wendao, as long as we can defeat that monster, the rest will be no issue!”

”Excellent!” Wanyan Second Master nodded appreciatively, again turning his gaze to the roomful and said, ”Alright, now I can share my idea. My plan is simple: directly besiege Mount Wendao and wait for Ye Qing and his allies to fall into our trap!”

The group inside looked at each other in confusion, unable to grasp the meaning behind Wanyan Second Master’s words. Besieging Mount Wendao is one thing, but obtaining the Sun Shooting Bow is crucial. However, how would besieging Mount Wendao lead to Ye Qing walking into their trap? How did it make any logical sense? Would Ye Qing come to his own demise simply because they’ve encircled Mount Wendao?

Observing their expressions, Wanyan Second Master understood their thoughts and chuckled coldly, ”The leaf-bearer, and the monster of Mount Wendao are undoubtedly familiar. Otherwise, he would not hide such a critical item as the Sun Shooting Bow on Mount Wendao. Thus, if we besiege Mount Wendao, the leaf-bearer surely cannot remain idle, he will definitely rush to assist Mount Wendao. By then, not only can we reclaim the Sun Shooting Bow from Mount Wendao, but we can also capture the leaf-bearer and Sword Saint Sect altogether!”

Upon hearing this, everyone finally realized the reasoning. However, doubts remained: would Ye Qing truly rush to Mount Wendao to assist?

They were unaware of the relationship between Ye Qing and the Fat Jiao of Mount Wendao, which naturally led them to question this situation. But Wanyan Second Master had seen the scenario where Fat Jiao protected Ye Qing, so he dared to affirm Ye Qing’s familiarity with Fat Jiao of Mount Wendao. Knowing Ye Qing’s character, if they attacked Mount Wendao, Ye Qing would definitely not sit idly by.

In fact, Wanyan Second Master had been considering this method for some time. However, he hadn’t dared to employ it because he was uncertain of the combat power of the serpent swarm on Mount Wendao. Last time, over twenty thousand Long-toothed Rat troops were decimated by the snake swarm, which genuinely startled him—initially unaware that the family’s unbeatable swarm of Long-toothed Rats could actually fail. He had suspected long ago that Ye Qing might have hidden the Sun Shooting Bow on Mount Wendao, but out of fear of Mount Wendao’s serpent swarm, he never dared to target Mount Wendao.

After Wanyan Hongfeng went into seclusion, he came up with this plan: to lead Ye Qing out through besieging Mount Wendao. However, for safety purposes, he first sent people to investigate the situation on Mount Wendao. Now, having learned that the number of snake swarms on Mount Wendao is far fewer than their swarm of Long-toothed Rats, he felt much more at ease. As long as the Long-toothed Rat swarm could exert its strength, this battle shouldn’t pose any issues!

If through this battle, they could directly obtain the Sun Shooting Bow from Mount Wendao, kill Ye Qing, and defeat the Sword Saint Sect, they would achieve total victory, resulting in a monumental feat. Being an ambitious individual, Wanyan Second Master naturally wanted to control such merit himself.

”Second Brother’s method is truly ingenious!” After a moment of silence, a man immediately exclaimed loudly, ”Every time we prepare for so long, waiting for Ye Qing and his allies, only for them to change direction, we end up wasting time. Now, it’s perfect; we directly go to Mount Wendao, waiting for Ye Qing and his allies to come, without the need to calculate their travel route or worry about them changing direction.”

As soon as the man’s words fell, other people in the room immediately joined in the praise. It was evident to everyone that Wanyan Second Master’s method was indeed excellent. If they could indeed catch Ye Qing and the Sword Saint Sect in one fell swoop and retrieve the Sun Shooting Bow, then Wanyan Second Master would truly earn a monumental deed, with an boundless future ahead. Naturally, no one would miss this opportunity for flattery.

With some smugness on his face, Wanyan Second Master waited as the praises flowed, then slowly waved his hand, saying, ”Alright, just follow what I said. Notify everyone in the Wanyan Family, to immediately redirect to Mount Wendao.”

”Yes!” Everyone replied in unison, leaving the room to arrange matters regarding Mount Wendao.

Meanwhile, as Wanyan Second Master watched them depart into the distance, his expression gradually turned somber from its former look of satisfaction. Although this time he could achieve great merit, within his heart, he was not particularly excited. The things involving Wanyan Ming going to Mount Wendao, and Wanyan Hongsheng being imprisoned in the dungeon made him harbor concerns towards Wanyan Hongfeng. So, despite achieving feats this time, his first thought was not about how Wanyan Hongfeng would reward him but rather was silently pondering how he might secure more position and benefits for himself.

There’s a slight difference between Wanyan Second Master and Wanyan Hongsheng; Wanyan Hongsheng, in truth, has some personal desires, while Wanyan Second Master is genuinely all about dedicating everything to the family. He has never considered personal matters; he’s the type who would selflessly sacrifice his life if the family needs it. However, seeing Wanyan Hongsheng’s outcome, he started developing a tiny sense of self-interest within because he wasn’t sure if he might one day end up with the same fate as Wanyan Hongsheng!

The Wanyan Family’s message spread swiftly. As soon as they began action, Ye Qing had received the news. Of course, this was also due to Wanyan Second Master’s intentional dissemination, aiming to let Ye Qing know they were heading to Mount Wendao, thereby luring Ye Qing and his allies out.

When the news reached Ye Qing, they had just arrived in a small county more than five hundred kilometers away from Mount Wendao. They had rented an estate here, intending to rest for a night before heading elsewhere the next day. During these past few days, they hadn’t eaten at the same place for every meal, avoiding the Wanyan Family’s pursuit.

Upon receiving this news, Ye Qing was naturally greatly surprised. Despite all his calculations, he hadn’t anticipated the Wanyan Family would actually besiege Mount Wendao!

”Mount Wendao, what kind of place is it?” someone in the Sword Saint Sect inquired curiously, unaware of Mount Wendao and hence ignorant of what it involved.

Even those around Ye Qing, including Helian Tiehua, Ding Lianshun, and the Wolf Monk, didn’t know the specifics of Mount Wendao. Ye Qing had only vaguely mentioned the Fat Jiao and serpent swarm within Mount Wendao, but they weren’t aware of its true connection with Ye Qing. Hence, everyone remained less anxious than Ye Qing.

”Mount Wendao, supposedly the place where Ancestor Chen Tuan practiced cultivation, leaving behind a Wendao Stone,” Helian Tiehua explained, ”Alliance Leader Ye was coincidentally associated with Wendao Mountain before, where he acquired the Karmic Dao within the Wendao Stone. Thus, Mount Wendao can be considered profoundly tied to Alliance Leader Ye!”

Upon hearing Helian Tiehua’s explanation, everyone in the Sword Saint Sect was even more intrigued, the Second Sect Leader of the Sword Saint Sect asked curiously, ”Alliance Leader Ye has acquired the Karmic Dao from the Wendao Stone; what significance remains for them to besiege Mount Wendao?”
