Urban Martial Saint

The two water grass giants charged with over a hundred famed instruments, and the leading water grass giant directly took a long knife from one of the water grass giants.

The leading water grass giant held the long knife, gestured at Ye Qing for a while, and then suddenly drew the long knife, slashing fiercely towards Ye Qing’s right hand.

It was only at this moment that Ye Qing realized the purpose of these water grass giants bringing famed instruments. It turned out they intended to chop off his hand. They couldn’t obtain the Taoist Sovereign by tearing it away, so they planned to get it through this method!

However, even if they used famed instruments, how could Ye Qing fear them? With one slash, Ye Qing’s wrist suffered no damage, not even a white mark. This long knife didn’t even scratch Ye Qing’s skin, let alone chop off Ye Qing’s hand.

The failed slash left the water grass giant momentarily stunned. He clearly did not expect this outcome. After all, their own kind couldn’t withstand the attack of this long knife, yet it didn’t harm even a hair on Ye Qing. What was going on?

Refusing to believe it, the water grass giant slashed again. But the result was the same. The water grass giant became slightly mad, wielding the long knife and chopping mindlessly at Ye Qing’s arm. After slashing dozens of times, Ye Qing still remained unharmed.

The water grass giant staggered back a step, scrutinizing Ye Qing up and down, evidently bewildered by the situation. He had never even considered such a situation. What on earth was happening? Was it some kind of witchcraft?

Even though he endured those dozens of slashes without a scratch, that didn’t mean Ye Qing was entirely fine. The oxygen accumulated in his body was nearly depleted. The Fetal Breathing Technique could allow him to persist for half an hour underwater, but now the half-hour was almost up. If this continued, the crucial point wasn’t whether these water grass giants could seize the Taoist Sovereign, but whether Ye Qing would be suffocated to death underwater!

Feeling the diminishing oxygen in his body, Ye Qing started to go a bit crazy. He struggled hard, trying to break free from those water grasses, but it was all in vain. The power within him was unable to serve him. Sometimes it would help passively, but it wasn’t under his control. In the current situation, the power was completely inactive. If this continued, Ye Qing would indeed be suffocated to death underwater.

”What to do? What to do?”

These two sentences flickered in Ye Qing’s mind, but he didn’t know what to do either. Faced with the current situation, he was utterly powerless to resist and could only be at the mercy of others.

As time ticked away, the water grass giant still surrounded Ye Qing, swapped several famed instruments, but couldn’t harm Ye Qing in the slightest. In fact, Ye Qing was also barely holding on, with his chest almost feeling like it was on fire. The suffocating lack of oxygen was driving him to near madness. But the problem was, he had no strength to resist at all, which was the truly despairing part.

The situation lingered, and just as Ye Qing’s mind gradually became hazy, on the verge of losing consciousness, the water around them suddenly changed.

It seemed as though some force suddenly emerged, causing the water within the pond to rapidly flow, the powerful water currents even washed those water grass giants away. It’s important to know that these water grass giants could be considered water monsters growing at the bottom, yet they were unable to resist the water currents, indicating how strong the flow truly was.

However, the leading water grass giant proved resilient, managing to barely stay put despite the water current’s force. Yet it was clear he scarcely held on any longer, using all his power to grip Ye Qing, looking unwilling to let go. But despite his robust power, it couldn’t withstand the water current’s strength. The current’s force grew ever stronger, and before long, the water grass giant lost his ability to resist, swept away by the current.

Without the water grass giant holding on, Ye Qing too was swiftly swept away by the current. At that moment, Ye Qing’s head was close to bursting, utterly unable to resist within the speedy current, and could only let the water take him, without knowing where he would be taken.

Experiencing the rapid water currents, Ye Qing couldn’t help but recall his first dive underwater the day before. From the water’s surface, no sign of turbulence was visible. Yet underwater, the currents were exceedingly rapid, and Ye Qing had almost suffered a huge setback last time. Luckily, he was beside the mountain back then, managed to float and grab hold of the rock, preventing himself from being swept away. However, Ye Qing had witnessed the flow’s conditions and realized that those on shore wouldn’t know what was occurring underwater, as they couldn’t see the turbulent currents below.

The current moved quickly, dragging Ye Qing directly to the bottom. Ye Qing felt as if his body entered a mass of soft mud, then into a passageway, accompanied by a sound of chains, as though iron chains were set nearby. Nevertheless, Ye Qing couldn’t discern the situation clearly, as he was close to fainting, having no more thoughts at all.

Fortunately, the passage wasn’t long; the current was very swift, and before long, it carried Ye Qing out. Ye Qing felt everything around him suddenly become empty, as though he had been shot out of a fountain, directly bursting out above the water surface.

In that moment, Ye Qing was almost suffocating. As he suddenly left the water, he didn’t care where he was, hurriedly opened his mouth and gulped down air. The explosive feeling in his chest also subsided considerably, and his mind cleared a lot.

However, after just a few breaths of fresh air, Ye Qing dropped back into the water. The rushing river carried Ye Qing forward. But there was no more entangling water grass, allowing Ye Qing to move his limbs. He quickly struggled to the surface, opened his mouth and took deep breaths, while carefully observing his surroundings.

After a glance around, Ye Qing was stunned. He recognized his current location; it was the underground river he had just exited. From the rock wall beside this underground river, one could enter the passage to the Sword Saint Sect, which Ye Qing and his companions had just come through earlier. Who could have thought that Ye Qing would be flushed back here?

Now Ye Qing remembered when he sank to the bottom, he felt the soft surroundings, which should have been the mud at the bottom. The entrance to this underground river was beneath that mud, meaning he was swept from the mud into the underground river by the current. In other words, the direction of the underwater current was flowing towards the underground river.

Thinking about this, Ye Qing immediately turned his head to look, only to see a fountain gushing out from the entrance of the underground river. The powerful current kept surging in, it was this flow that swept Ye Qing into the underground river. Seeing the height of the fountain, Ye Qing could imagine the swiftness of the currents beneath the pond.

At this moment, Ye Qing finally understood the source of the swift currents beneath the water surface. Apparently, the water was flowing into the underground river. Upon recalling, when Ye Qing first entered the water, he was relatively far from this entrance, so the current wasn’t as strong then. But this time, Ye Qing and the others were beside the entrance, so naturally, the flow was fastest, even the water grass giants couldn’t withstand it. It was normal for Ye Qing to be swept in by the water flow.

However, there’s one thing Ye Qing still didn’t understand. The underground river and the water pond outside should be level, so why did the external water suddenly surge into the underground river?

As Ye Qing pondered this in surprise, a water grass suddenly wrapped around his ankle, pulling him down to the bottom. Although the underground river wasn’t very deep, the amount of water rushing in made it quite deep at this moment, around seven or eight feet deep.

Dragged into the water, Ye Qing could see several water grass giants glaring at him menacingly from afar. The one wrapping his ankle was the leader of the water grass giants. It seemed that the water grass giants were also swept into the river by the current. However, the speed of the current inside the underground river wasn’t like the outside, allowing the giants to stand firm and launch an attack on him.

Ye Qing had previously suffered at the hands of these water grass giants, almost suffocating in the water; he wouldn’t let them drag him down again. He quickly pulled the Miao Dao Ancestor’s scabbard from his back and struck the water grass with force.

The water grass was tough, but no match against the Miao Dao Ancestor’s scabbard, as Ye Qing easily chopped it apart.

The water grass giant clearly didn’t expect Ye Qing to fight back, and was taken aback, then further enraged. Its body trembled as six or seven other stalks of water grass lunged at Ye Qing.

Ye Qing had previously fought these water grass giants and had some understanding of them. Seeing the water grass approaching, he didn’t dodge, but gripped the Miao Dao Ancestor’s scabbard and charged, slicing off a section of the first water grass head-on.

This water grass grew from the water grass giant, with a flesh-and-blood connection to the giant. Ye Qing ’s slicing hurt the giant, causing the grass retract, but other stalks positioned themselves around Ye Qing, seemingly trying to encircle him.

Ye Qing remained calm, gripping the Miao Dao Ancestor’s scabbard, ready to act at any moment. If any grass attempted to make a move, he’d strike it with a scabbard without letting the grass wrap around him.

The water grass giants were wary of Ye Qing’s scabbard, so both sides stood opposing each other, neither daring to move first.
