Urban Martial Saint

Because the signal is blocked within the Sword Saint Sect, Wanyan Hongfeng and his group couldn’t receive any outside news while they were inside.

As soon as Wanyan Hongfeng and his group came out of the Sword Saint Sect, they received several messages. The first was from Wanyan Hongsheng sent from Shenchuan City, discussing the ambush faced by the Wanyan Family in Shenchuan City. Before they had a chance to react angrily, a message came from Wan Yan Manor in Tianzhao City, revealing that the manor had been attacked and burned to ruins.

The series of messages infuriated everyone in the Wanyan Family. Particularly, Wanyan Second Master, who was responsible for receiving these messages, was in a state of extreme rage. He immediately rushed to Wanyan Hongfeng, furiously conveying the news.

Wanyan Hongfeng sat in an RV, leaning against the sofa, eyes closed and silent, as if he hadn’t heard Wanyan Second Master’s words.

Wanyan Second Master waited for a while. Seeing Wanyan Hongfeng remain silent, he was puzzled, unsure of Wanyan Hongfeng’s intentions. He knew Wanyan Hongfeng had an explosive personality. According to his nature, Wanyan Hongfeng would definitely be angry hearing such news. But why was his reaction so calm this time? Had he not heard him?

With doubts in his mind, Wanyan Second Master cautiously called again, ”Brother, brother?”

Wanyan Hongfeng still did not respond at all, looking as if he was truly asleep. Wanyan Second Master became more confused; with Wanyan Hongfeng’s skills, not just him, even a master at the Unity of Heaven and Man Realm approaching could be sensed. But he had spoken several sentences here without eliciting any reaction; what did this mean? There was no way he could be asleep.

After waiting in silence for a while longer, seeing Wanyan Hongfeng not even open his eyes, Wanyan Second Master grew anxious. He moved closer to Wanyan Hongfeng, raising his voice slightly: ”Brother, brother, there’s trouble at the manors in Shenchuan City and Tianzhao City? Did you... did you hear what I said?”

As soon as Wanyan Second Master finished speaking, Wanyan Hongfeng suddenly opened his eyes. A red gleam flashed through them, and as he looked at Wanyan Second Master, a hint of anger and hostility appeared, frightening Wanyan Second Master and making him step back involuntarily, his heart immediately filled with panic.

He had never seen such an expression from Wanyan Hongfeng before. After all, he was still Wanyan Hongfeng’s brother. Despite occasional dissatisfaction from Wanyan Hongfeng, he never looked at him this way. Honestly, Wanyan Hongfeng’s expression made him feel like he was looking at a monster devoid of human emotion; the eyes contained an air of arrogance and an inexplicable coldness. The expression was truly bizarre!

The red gleam in Wanyan Hongfeng’s eyes was fleeting; his expression soon returned to normal. He glanced at Wanyan Second Master, surprised: ”Second Brother? When did you come in?”

”Huh?” Wanyan Second Master was instantly taken aback, looking at Wanyan Hongfeng in surprise, uncertain about what to say. He’d been here for quite a while, yet Wanyan Hongfeng truly didn’t know he was there? How was that possible? With Wanyan Hongfeng’s prowess, how could he possibly evade detection?

”I... I’ve been here for a while...” Wanyan Second Master said quietly, observing Wanyan Hongfeng’s expression. ”I just reported two matters to you, what do you think?”

”You’ve been here for a while?” Wanyan Hongfeng said, surprised: ”How did I not know?”

”I... I also spoke to you, didn’t you... didn’t you hear?” Wanyan Second Master asked curiously.

”Oh?” Wanyan Hongfeng said: ”What did you tell me? Maybe I fell asleep just now, the attack on the Sword Saint Sect these past days was really exhausting.”

Wanyan Second Master looked at Wanyan Hongfeng with surprise, uncertain whether Wanyan Hongfeng was genuinely too tired and fell asleep, or was deliberately pretending not to have heard. Nonetheless, he recounted the events in Shenchuan City and Tianzhao City to Wanyan Hongfeng once more.

Upon hearing Wanyan Second Master’s report, Wanyan Hongfeng immediately stood up in anger, ”Such a thing? These cowardly scoundrels, unwilling to confront us directly, resorted to such backhanded dealings. Ambushing our unguarded manors is truly despicable!”

Seeing Wanyan Hongfeng’s expression, Wanyan Second Master’s initial surprise lessened somewhat. This was Wanyan Hongfeng’s normal character and reaction; it appeared he was truly too tired and had fallen asleep earlier.

”Wan Yan Manor in Tianzhao City has been completely destroyed, three peak masters, two dead, one injured. The injured one was taken away by Ye Qing and his group.” Wanyan Second Master said sombrely.

”Was there anything important left at Wan Yan Manor in Tianzhao City?” Wanyan Hongfeng asked.

”No.” Wanyan Second Master shook his head, ”After the last incident, we relocated everything in that small building. Everything is well hidden now, and the most crucial items are carried with us, Ye Qing and his group couldn’t have taken anything significant!”

”Is that so?” Wanyan Hongfeng nodded slowly and said, ”Well done. As long as those things haven’t been taken by them, there’s no need to worry about them. A few deaths are of little consequence!”

Wanyan Second Master nodded and said, ”However, the losses over in Shenchuan City are quite severe. Although not much was taken away, among the peak masters we originally left behind, only Third Brother and two other peak masters survived, most were killed, and a few were injured and taken away.”

Wanyan Hongfeng couldn’t help but frown and said solemnly, ”I left twenty or thirty peak masters, how could they be defeated so badly? Could it be that Ye Qing took the people from the Sword Saint Sect there?”

”That’s not it.” Wanyan Second Master shook his head and said, ”According to the information I received, it was mainly people from the Nalan Family who broke in!”

”The Nalan Family?” Wanyan Hongfeng frowned even deeper and said, ”How could that family’s strength defeat so many masters I left behind? How is this possible?”

”This matter, firstly, it was mainly because Ye Qing’s group assisted the Nalan Family. Secondly...” At this point, Wanyan Second Master paused gently and said in a low voice, ”Secondly, it also has something to do with Third Brother.”

”What relation?” Wanyan Hongfeng asked solemnly.

Wanyan Second Master dared not conceal anything and recounted the matters of Panlong Valley. Hearing this, Wanyan Hongfeng slapped the table beside him once more, shattering it completely, which showed the extent of his current anger.

Seeing Wanyan Hongfeng’s expression, Wanyan Second Master was also frightened in his heart. He knew that Wanyan Hongfeng was truly angry. In fact, even if it were not Wanyan Hongfeng, anyone in his place would inevitably be furious.

Wanyan Hongfeng had left so many people for Wanyan Hongsheng to maintain the manor in Shenchuan City, to protect that manor and not concern himself with other affairs. However, Wanyan Hongsheng, seeking merit, created such a situation. Not only did he defy the ancestors’ orders to bring out a Divine Clan corpse from the Demon Hideout Cave, but he also got so many peak masters killed. Losing manpower, and later being attacked by Ye Qing and his group in Shenchuan City, ended in such a great setback. All of this happened because Wanyan Hongsheng disregarded Wanyan Hongfeng’s arrangements, so it was natural for Wanyan Hongfeng to be angry.

Wanyan Second Master stood by for a while, watching Wanyan Hongfeng, and only when he felt Wanyan Hongfeng’s anger had slightly subsided, he cautiously said, ”Big Brother, actually... actually Third Brother was just eager for success, wanting to capture Ye Qing to force him to hand over the Sun Shooting Bow. This matter, can’t... can’t be entirely blamed on Third Brother...”

”Regardless of his intentions, rules are rules!” Wanyan Hongfeng said solemnly, ”Because of him, so many of our peak masters from the Wanyan Family died. If I don’t give everyone an explanation, who will follow us in the future?”

Wanyan Second Master opened his mouth but in the end dared not say anything more. He understood that what Wanyan Hongsheng had done this time was indeed a grave mistake, and Wanyan Hongfeng wouldn’t let him off. Even if Wanyan Second Master pleaded here, it would be no use; Wanyan Hongsheng could not escape severe punishment.

”Big Brother, where do we go now?” Wanyan Second Master asked softly, looking at Wanyan Hongfeng, ”According to our reports, Ye Qing and his group have just left Tianzhao City, and they should be heading towards the Capital. We don’t know why they’re going there, so should we send some people to check it out?”

Wanyan Hongfeng was silent for a moment, then shook his head slightly and said, ”No need.”

”No need?” Wanyan Second Master asked in surprise, looking at Wanyan Hongfeng, ”Big Brother, this is a good opportunity. If we can get to the Capital before they do and intercept them, we could catch them all in one go!”

”Catching them all doesn’t matter; I have more crucial matters right now!” Wanyan Hongfeng waved his hand firmly and said, ”No more nonsense, head straight back to Shenchuan City.”

”Back to Shenchuan City?” Wanyan Second Master was astonished, unable to comprehend what Wanyan Hongfeng intended to do. Instead of blocking the Sword Saint Sect’s people, he was returning to Shenchuan City, which seemed like giving them a chance to escape.

However, with Wanyan Hongfeng not explaining the reasons, Wanyan Second Master dared not ask more, and quickly went out to instruct people to change course to Shenchuan City.

Once Wanyan Second Master left the room, Wanyan Hongfeng’s expression immediately changed. His face was no longer stern, but his muscles twisted, his eyes staring straight ahead, with a flickering red gleam, giving a chillingly grim look.

If Wanyan Second Master were still there to witness this, he would surely be shocked. Because Wanyan Hongfeng’s eyes were just like this earlier.
