Urban Martial Saint

Hearing the three words ”Beimang Mountain,” everyone from the Church fell into silence. After a moment, one of the old men suddenly slapped the sofa, pointed at Ye Qing, and shouted angrily, ”Ye Qing, even at a time like this you still want to lie to us?”

”When did I ever lie to you?” Ye Qing frowned.

”And this isn’t lying to us?” the old man snapped. ”You clearly know how dangerous Beimang Mountain is, yet you just had to tell us this Healing Holy Medicine grows on Beimang Mountain. Hmph, isn’t that deliberately trying to scare us, to make us back off?”

”Oh, listen to yourself, that’s really something.” Ye Qing let out a cold laugh and said, ”You’re the one scared of Beimang Mountain, too afraid to go in, and now you turn around and accuse me of lying to you. Hmph, if I wanted to trick you, I’d just take you straight to the Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance in Shenchuan City, or over to Qing Tang. There’d naturally be people lining up to deal with you; why would I bother luring you to Beimang Mountain? Hmph, Beimang Mountain is dangerous for you—do you think it’s not dangerous for me?”

Ye Qing’s words slightly calmed the Church crowd, who had just started to get angry; in their hearts they also felt he had a point. If he really wanted to trick them, luring them to the Seven Rudders of Hong Alliance or the Twelve Green Halls would actually be much easier. Why even bring up Beimang Mountain? Besides, the danger inside Beimang Mountain wasn’t targeted only at the Church; it was the same for people from Huaxia. Since ancient times, those entering Beimang Mountain from Huaxia were the most numerous, yet the ones who walked out alive were pitifully few. So people of Huaxia should be even more wary of Beimang Mountain. And yet Ye Qing insisted the Healing Holy Medicine came from Beimang Mountain. Was he trying to deceive them, or did this Healing Holy Medicine really grow there?

The Great Lord said nothing. He had been staring at Ye Qing all along, trying to see some clue from Ye Qing’s expression. But in truth, he couldn’t see a thing. After all, this Devouring Demon Flower really did come from the Demon Hiding Cave in Mount Beimang; it truly was produced on Beimang Mountain. What Ye Qing said was the truth, not half a word of it was false; he hadn’t lied at all. What clues could the Great Lord possibly find?

”Beimang Mountain is where the Great Demon King fell. How could something like this Healing Holy Medicine grow there?” another old man said in a low voice. ”I’ve lived so long and read so many of the Church’s classics, yet I’ve never once heard that such Healing Holy Medicine grows in Beimang Mountain!”

”Just because you haven’t seen it, you assume Beimang Mountain doesn’t have it?” Ye Qing said coldly. ”Let me ask you, before you saw this Healing Holy Medicine today, had you ever seen any medicine that could heal injuries and restore strength in such a short time?”

”I…” The old man was instantly tongue-tied, unable to say a word. Just as Ye Qing said, if he hadn’t personally witnessed it this time, he would never have believed such Healing Holy Medicine could exist. But now it clearly did, and he had even seen its effects with his own eyes; he had no choice but to believe.

”Besides, who told you that such Healing Holy Medicine absolutely couldn’t grow in Beimang Mountain?” Ye Qing said. ”Since you know Beimang Mountain is where the Great Demon King finally fell, you should naturally also know how defiant his strength was against the heavens. For a Healing Holy Medicine like this to be produced where he died, I actually think it’s quite normal. For all we know, this Healing Holy Medicine might be the Great Demon King’s Vital Energy condensed into form.”

Listening to Ye Qing, everyone couldn’t help but look at the Devouring Demon Flowers in the Great Lord’s hand. Ye Qing’s words made them start to doubt: was this Healing Holy Medicine really produced in Beimang Mountain?

The Great Lord kept staring at Ye Qing. While Ye Qing spoke, his expression was extremely sincere, with not the slightest sign of fabrication. That forced the Great Lord to start doubting—could Ye Qing actually be telling the truth? Was this Healing Holy Medicine indeed grown in Beimang Mountain?

But then he thought of what Ye Qing said afterward, and the Great Lord felt the same. Keep in mind, the Great Demon King was the man who created an entire sect, his strength could only be described as defying the heavens. For such a person’s final resting place to produce this kind of Healing Holy Medicine wasn’t strange at all. After all, the Great Demon King had been dead for thousands of years, and yet Beimang Mountain still remained a forbidden land that no one could enter—that alone showed his level of power. Moreover, there had always been rumors in Huaxia that there were treasures in the Demon Hideout Cave; could this Healing Holy Medicine be the very treasure people had been talking about?

Seeing everyone silent, Ye Qing waved his hand and said, ”Forget it, forget it. If you don’t believe me, then pretend I never said anything. I already told you: I can give you the place, but whether you dare go in or not is none of my business. If you don’t dare enter, then just take me straight to the Church and stop disturbing my rest!”

Everyone looked to the Great Lord. They were all hesitating whether to trust Ye Qing or not; at a time like this they could only wait for the Great Lord to make the call.

The Great Lord’s gaze swept over everyone and finally fell on Ye Qing. In a deep voice he said, ”Change course to Beimang Mountain. Once we arrive, have him open the way in front!”

With that, the Great Lord settled it—they would go to Beimang Mountain. However, he also left himself some leeway by insisting Ye Qing open the way. That way, even if there were traps or dangers inside Beimang Mountain, they could completely avoid them. As long as everyone stepped where Ye Qing stepped, they wouldn’t be in much danger.

Hearing the Great Lord, the Church members immediately nodded repeatedly in agreement. The Great Lord’s method did save them a lot of worry.

Ye Qing, however, ignored them. He went straight back to his seat, folded his arms behind his head as a pillow, and lay down to sleep. Once he was out of their sight, his face broke into a broad grin. The people of the Church had finally been tricked into going to Beimang Mountain by him. Once they entered the Demon Hideout Cave in Mount Beimang, things would no longer be up to them—after all, that was his Demon Pet’s turf!

Of course, what Ye Qing wanted even more was to lure Nalan Jingwei, the Executioner Scholar, and the others into Beimang Mountain as well. After all, their grudges with him were anything but shallow, and they were all harboring ill intent. If he could use this opportunity to get rid of them, that would be perfect. But as things stood, whether they could actually catch up was still an unknown.

To be safe, the people of the Church didn’t take a plane but drove straight toward Beimang Mountain. And to avoid being followed, they switched cars three times along the way. They also purposely chose remote highways, and encountered no further trouble on the road. Several drivers took turns behind the wheel, and in two days they were already outside Beimang Mountain.

Ye Qing had entered Beimang Mountain several times before; he was as familiar with this place as if walking on flat ground. The Church members had never set foot there, and knew the situation inside only from tales passed down by Church seniors. So they were extremely afraid of Beimang Mountain in their hearts. From the moment they entered, they had been stepping in Ye Qing’s footprints the whole way, terrified of running into danger inside.

”Hey, what’s with you people being so timid? And you call yourselves Peak Masters?” After having them cling close behind for a while, Ye Qing said impatiently, ”We’re just walking on the outer ring of Beimang Mountain right now; we haven’t even entered the mountains proper. Do you really need to be this cautious? Can’t you see there are no prohibition signs around here? Even tourists can stroll in as they please. How could there possibly be any traps or danger here?”

The Church members looked around and their faces flushed. Just as Ye Qing said, this area was indeed open to tourists, so naturally there shouldn’t be any danger. Them sticking so tightly to Ye Qing here only made them look cowardly.

The Great Lord was a bit better. He coughed lightly twice and said, ”Enough useless talk, getting into the mountain quickly is what matters. Ye Qing, you want me to kill Nalan Jingwei for you as soon as possible too, don’t you?”

”It doesn’t have to be this minute.” Ye Qing muttered, but still walked in front, leading the group deeper into Beimang Mountain. Of course, he walked slowly, taking every chance to detour and wander around, doing his best to waste time.

Ye Qing knew Nalan Jingwei, the Executioner Scholar, and the others definitely wouldn’t give up so easily, so they would certainly continue chasing. That was precisely why he dragged things out as long as possible on the outskirts—to buy them time and let them catch up quickly. That way, he could lure them all into the Demon Hideout Cave and catch them in one net!

The Church members were completely unfamiliar with Beimang Mountain and naturally had no idea Ye Qing was taking them around in circles. They thought the mountain paths were just this winding. And walking in the middle of it all, they were more focused on guarding against possible dangers than on wondering whether Ye Qing was leading them in loops.

While Ye Qing was leading the Church crowd in circles and stalling for time in the mountains, Nalan Jingwei, the Executioner Scholar, and the others also arrived outside Beimang Mountain. Nalan Jingwei had summoned two Peak Masters to assist him, and the Executioner Scholar had likewise invited two Peak Masters to help. The lineups on both sides were now extremely strong. At the very least, dealing with those Church people wouldn’t be difficult at all.

Nalan Jingwei had wanted the Executioner Scholar to invite two Peak Masters mainly to probe what power was backing him. But the two Peak Masters the Executioner Scholar brought turned out to be free agents like Huang Yunfeng, idle forces off to the side, from whom nothing could be inferred about the faction behind the Executioner Scholar. So Nalan Jingwei became even more wary, realizing that the power behind the Executioner Scholar was deliberately concealing its identity. More crucially, the other party could casually dispatch two Peak Masters, which showed their strength was definitely not weak and could not be underestimated!

The Executioner Scholar, however, didn’t think that much. What he cared about most was Ye Qing. Although the Wanyan Family sent out two Peak Masters as if it were nothing, clearly proving how strong the Wanyan Family was, to him, as long as he could capture Ye Qing and seize the Buddha’s Relic, who cared about the Wanyan Family or the Nalan Family? They were nothing in his eyes!
