Urban Martial Saint

Although the last time that old traditional Chinese medicine doctor was impersonated by Chen Yongchang, Chen Yongchang did actually give Wu Yian an acupuncture at the time to gain the trust of Ye Qing.

After all, Chen Yongchang is a direct disciple of Ning Qianshu, his medical skills are indeed quite good, and there’s no problem with his acupuncture skills. After his treatment, Wu Yian’s illness really got better, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Ye Qing and the others.

So now, at the orphanage, it’s still Wu Yian in charge. Wu Yian is an experienced old principal, adept at managing schools and children. Therefore, under his management, the orphanage is indeed well-organized.

Currently, Ye Qing’s orphanage has no issues in terms of construction, and in terms of management, it’s even better than a professionally run orphanage. Let alone Su Kaicheng not having any issues, even if leaders from the Capital came to inspect, there would be absolutely no problem.

”Good! Very good!” Su Kaicheng was quite satisfied with the situation of this orphanage, nodding continuously during the tour, without showing any sign of dissatisfaction.

Seeing Su Kaicheng like this, Ye Qing felt much more at ease. Su Kaicheng’s opinion represented the view of the Capital. If Su Kaicheng was impressed with the construction and arrangement here, then there wouldn’t be any issues from the Capital’s side. It seemed that the orphanage’s matters were already a sure thing; it was just a matter of time.

Moreover, Su Guoxuan also mentioned that this matter had to be resolved before the year’s end, so that the Ministry of Finance could deliver the funds before the year ends. So, this matter was about to be completely resolved soon, lifting the biggest burden off Ye Qing’s mind.

After touring the orphanage, Ye Qing first sent Su Kaicheng to a hotel in the city to rest. It was still early, and Ye Qing had just returned, not having had a chance to inquire about the situation in Shenchuan City. Now finally having some free time, he sat with Li Lianshan, Zhao Chengshuang, and the others to ask in detail about what had happened in Shenchuan City during his absence.

Actually, during Ye Qing’s absence, not much happened in Shenchuan City. After all, Wang Tian’an and his group had withdrawn to the Western Province, and White Horse Chen San had been pursuing them to the Western Province. Both sides were currently fighting there. However, Wang Tian’an’s strength had significantly diminished after being fooled several times by Ye Qing. And White Horse Chen San had barely any expenditure, so even in the Western Province, Wang Tian’an’s territory, he was being beaten back steadily by White Horse Chen San. Now, half of the Western Province was under White Horse Chen San’s control. It seemed it was only a matter of time before Wang Tian’an was completely driven out.

Ye Qing wasn’t too concerned about this matter because he knew Wang Tian’an was just a pawn with no real power, and the truly dangerous characters hadn’t appeared yet. Moreover, he had witnessed the world-stunning presence of Great General Helian Tiehua and the otherworldly power of Prince Nalan of the Capital. Great General Helian Tiehua would surely head south, and when he did, the Southern Six Provinces would certainly be at their most chaotic. So, for Ye Qing, the upcoming chaos would be the biggest challenge!

With Wang Tian’an defeated, Ning Qianshu would appear, and when Ning Qianshu appeared, Helian Tiehua would head south. This battlefield no longer belonged to them. How Ye Qing would survive this chaos was the biggest problem he faced.

Zhao Chengshuang and Li Lianshan had no idea what Ye Qing was thinking. Seeing Ye Qing remain silent, Zhao Chengshuang suddenly said, ”By the way, Ye Zi, recently there has been a bizarre case in Tianhui City. The Tianhui City police dispatched investigators, half of whom were killed. Now, the Tianhui City police don’t dare to investigate the case. The case has been entirely taken over by the provincial department, but even the personnel sent there by the provincial department have died. Now the case is left unsolved, causing widespread panic in Tianhui City. A few days ago, Director Liu called over, asking you to go to Tianhui City immediately to help with the investigation after you returned.”

”Oh?” Ye Qing slightly froze, wondering, ”What kind of case is this?”

Zhao Chengshuang replied, ”I don’t know the details, but I know there is a serial killer in Tianhui City. During the days you were not in Shenchuan City, that person has already killed over three hundred people!”

”What?” Ye Qing frowned. He had been away from Shenchuan City for less than ten days, and that person had already killed over three hundred people. Calculating it, the person had to kill at least thirty people each day. What exactly was this person doing? Even if he was a professional assassin, he couldn’t kill so many people. People kill for money; he killed as if it was a meal?

”Are you talking about that person?” Li Lianshan said, ”I also heard about this. It’s said the murderer isn’t even human but a demon. After killing, he even drank the victim’s blood. Is this true or false?”

Zhao Chengshuang shrugged and said, ”That’s the most troublesome part; otherwise, it wouldn’t be called a bizarre case. I’ve worked as a policeman for many years and have seen many murder cases, but never one like this. It’s not only about the body count; the key thing is that after killing, he acts like a beast, sucking the victim’s blood dry. But he doesn’t drink it; after sucking it out, he spits it out, leaving blood all over the place, while the victims turn into mummies. You haven’t seen the photos of the victims; it’s tragic!”

”Really?” Li Lianshan widened his eyes and said, ”According to you, doesn’t this sound too supernatural? Could it be... could it be haunted?”

”Haunted, my foot! What era do you think we’re in, still spouting that superstition!” Zhao Chengshuang gave Li Lianshan a contemptuous look and said to Ye Qing, ”Ye Zi, this is not a simple case at all. I think Director Liu has no choice but to ask for your help. Do you want to go over and help him?”

Ye Qing might not care about others’ affairs, but when it came to Liu Changping’s matters, he would certainly help. After all, Liu Changping had helped Ye Qing a lot, and in Ye Qing’s heart, he was a respectable elder. Besides, this matter was no small issue. If this case were unresolved, many more people could die at the person’s hands.

”Is Director Liu in Tianhui City now?” Ye Qing asked.

”He’s been there, mainly overseeing the case!” Zhao Chengshuang paused and said, ”This time, just the police alone have sacrificed more than thirty people, with many officers coming from surrounding cities for assistance. I’m also among the personnel transferred to help, but Director Liu asked me to wait here for your return, to go together. If you are ready to go help, why don’t we head out early tomorrow?”

”Why wait until tomorrow?” Ye Qing said, ”Let’s go now; it’s such a big issue, and every day of delay could mean more deaths!”

Ye Qing’s decisiveness made Zhao Chengshuang delighted. He quickly stood up and said, ”Let’s go, let’s go, I have the car ready; we can leave now.”

Zhao Chengshuang had great trust in Ye Qing, convinced that if Ye Qing went, the case would be easily solved. And by accompanying Ye Qing, he believed he would achieve a great merit, so he was quite looking forward to this matter.

”Wait a moment.” Ye Qing stopped Zhao Chengshuang, saying, ”There are some things I need to find out first; we can’t just leave on a whim.”

”What else do you need to ask?” Zhao Chengshuang wondered.

Ye Qing asked, ”Have any of you seen the serial killer?”

Zhao Chengshuang replied, ”I haven’t seen him, but the colleagues over there have. According to them, the serial killer has long white hair down to his shoulders, covering his face entirely, making it impossible to see whether it’s a man or a woman. He often holds a dagger and a book, with red eyes, looking truly like a demon.”

Listening to Zhao Chengshuang’s description, Ye Qing slightly frowned. This person with long white hair is most likely a woman, and an older one at that. But how could an older woman kill so many people? The most puzzling thing is that with so many policemen encircling her, she not only wasn’t captured but also killed more than thirty officers. This is hard to believe. Could this woman also be a martial arts expert?

”Does she know martial arts?” Ye Qing asked.

”Well...” Zhao Chengshuang scratched his head and said, ”Should be, but the provincial department had brought in some martial arts experts for support. However, according to these experts, the person had no technique at all, purely relying on overwhelming strength, so she probably wasn’t trained in martial arts. But you know what, the most peculiar part is, this person... she wasn’t even afraid of bullets!”

”Not afraid of bullets? What do you mean?” Li Lianshan wondered.

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”One of my colleagues shot her, but she... she wasn’t injured at all. And that night, she came out to kill many more people!”

Ye Qing furrowed his brows tighter. The opponent hadn’t trained in martial arts, yet was so formidable. What was going on? If she was a martial arts expert, there would be an explanation for all this. But she didn’t know martial arts, so how did she kill so many people? And not even bullets affected her. Could it be, as Li Lianshan suggested, this was an eerie, supernatural encounter?

After pondering for a while, Ye Qing sternly said, ”We can’t just go over like this.”

”What’s wrong?” Zhao Chengshuang wondered, ”Then how should we go?”

Ye Qing didn’t answer his question. Instead, he looked at Huangfu Ziyu, who was sitting beside him, and asked, ”Ziyu, when can your Cold Moon Blade be delivered to Shenchuan?”

Huangfu Ziyu looked at the clock on the wall and said, ”In about two hours, it should arrive!”

Ye Qing nodded and said, ”Then let’s wait another two hours.”

Since Ye Qing’s Seven-Star Ancient Sword was taken by Joyous Monk in the Capital, he hadn’t had a suitable weapon. After hearing from Zhao Chengshuang that the person wasn’t afraid of bullets, he realized he needed a trusty famed instrument for protection.
