Urban Martial Saint

Helian Tiehua departed, and Prince Nalan made no effort to keep Ye Qing and his companions.

In truth, to Prince Nalan, Ye Qing and the others were of no consequence whatsoever. He regarded their strength as insignificant, thus he had no intention of taking action against them. Since they couldn’t provide any information about Shijia, he didn’t pursue the matter and directly allowed them to leave.

Ye Qing and his companions walked out of the hotel, marking the end of the affair involving Helian Tiehua’s venture to the capital. However, for Ye Qing and his companions, this matter left them speechless.

The commotion caused by Helian Tiehua’s entry into the capital was truly spectacular, and Ye Qing and the others initially intended to capitalize on this event to seize the Seven-Star Ancient Sword. Yet, upon arriving here, not only did they fail to reclaim the Seven-Star Ancient Sword, but they were also swindled by that monk. The most frustrating part for Ye Qing was having most of his inner strength drained by the Joyous Monk, leaving him yet to completely recover.

Upon reflection, the three gained nothing from this trip, instead suffering considerable losses. Ultimately, all of this resulted from that monk, whom they now deemed a significant deceiver in their minds. They decided to exercise caution during their next encounter with him.

However, there was a silver lining. After this incident, Helian Qingfeng was punished by Helian Tiehua and wouldn’t seek trouble for Ye Qing and his companions again. As for Nalan Tianyu, it’s uncertain whether he could even get out of bed, let alone seek trouble. So, Ye Qing and his companions in the capital would likely face no further complications.

When they returned to the hotel, it happened to be afternoon. After sitting in the room for a brief moment, Ye Qing suddenly remembered something and swiftly stood up.

”What’s going on?” Huangfu Ziyu asked curiously.

”I forgot to handle something,” Ye Qing replied. Last night, he mentioned introducing a friend to Gao Shibao. He intended to create an opportunity for Gao Shibao to prosper in the capital. Therefore, Ye Qing planned to introduce him to Su Kaicheng.

Ye Qing had a good understanding of Gao Shibao; he had capability and vigor, only lacking opportunity and connections. Hence, Ye Qing genuinely wished to assist him. If acknowledged by the Su Family, he could certainly develop well in the capital.

Assisting someone wasn’t a blind decision for Ye Qing. Although Gao Shibao had helped him before and was his best friend, if Gao Shibao were incompetent, Ye Qing wouldn’t introduce him to the Su Family. It was precisely because of his talent and drive, only missing a platform, that Ye Qing sought to provide it for him.

Ye Qing first called Su Kaicheng, subtly mentioning the matter. Su Kaicheng, being clever, grasped Ye Qing’s intention from his initial words.

”Ye brothers, since you’re recommending a friend, he must be good,” Su Kaicheng said. ”However, my department is somewhat peculiar. Introducing him to me isn’t really appropriate. Instead, why not contact my uncle? I heard he recently needed a new secretary; perhaps you could bring your friend to try?”

Su Kaicheng’s uncle happened to be the middle-aged man who once showed displeasure with Ye Qing during several rescue attempts. Although he was annoying at that time, Ye Qing saw him as genuine. After Su Kaixin recovered, he apologized to Ye Qing, evident of his straightforwardness. Therefore, Ye Qing found him agreeable and consented to the arrangement upon Su Kaicheng’s suggestion.

Su Kaicheng first called his uncle, explaining the situation. His uncle was in the office at the time and agreed right away upon hearing Ye Qing was introducing a friend.

Following that, upon receiving the news from Su Kaicheng, Ye Qing called Gao Shibao directly. At the moment, Gao Shibao was busy running errands and printing documents. When Ye Qing called, he was somewhat surprised. Despite the conversation last night, he didn’t expect Ye Qing to personally address the matter again today.

Since Ye Qing brought it up again, Gao Shibao couldn’t refuse. He took leave from work, then rode his bicycle leisurely to Ye Qing’s hotel.

With the afternoon free, Liu Mubai went to the nearby school to read, leaving Ye Qing and Huangfu Ziyu. Upon receiving Gao Shibao’s call, Ye Qing brought Huangfu Ziyu downstairs and just happened to greet Gao Shibao.

Upon seeing Ye Qing, Gao Shibao immediately approached with a smile. However, upon catching sight of Huangfu Ziyu beside Ye Qing, he froze up instantly. This reaction was typical; many men were captivated by Huangfu Ziyu’s beauty.

”Shibao!” Ye Qing laughed and went over, wrapping his arm around Gao Shibao’s shoulder. The two had been best friends since university, always delighted to meet.

”Uh…” Gao Shibao finally came to his senses, patting Ye Qing’s shoulder and joking, ”You rascal, I planned to invite you for drinks tonight, but you beat me to it. By the way, this is…”

Gao Shibao glanced at Huangfu Ziyu and then back at Ye Qing, actually pondering their relationship. He had met Mu Qingrong the previous night; honestly, he always thought Mu Qingrong was Ye Qing’s woman. But now, seeing Huangfu Ziyu’s intimacy with Ye Qing, he revised his view. Yet, he was even more astounded; were all the women around Ye Qing this beautiful?

”Huangfu Ziyu!” Ye Qing introduced with a smile, ”My girlfriend, I’m going to marry her!”

Ye Qing was now completely sure of Huangfu Ziyu, so his introduction was straightforward. These words made Huangfu Ziyu’s cheeks turn slightly red, and she felt as sweet as if she’d eaten honey, tightly hugging Ye Qing’s arm, unwilling to let go. It’s said that women change because of men, and Huangfu Ziyu is a striking example of that. At this moment, she was no longer the once-dominating East State Poisonous Mantis. Beside Ye Qing, she was just a happy little woman!

Gao Shibao looked at Huangfu Ziyu again, gave Ye Qing a thumbs up, and said, ”Ye Zi, you’re really lucky with the ladies, huh? Our sister-in-law is so beautiful. Well done, you really didn’t let your brothers down. Your girlfriend easily beats all those so-called second-generation offspring women in our class!”

Ye Qing smiled slightly; with Huangfu Ziyu’s beauty, beating those people was definitely not a problem. However, Ye Qing didn’t care at all who those people ended up with, or what kind of girlfriends they found. Because, it had nothing to do with him!

”Come on, Shibo, I’m taking you to meet a friend!” Ye Qing patted Gao Shibao’s shoulder and laughed, ”But before we go, you’ve got to change this outfit first.”

”What’s wrong with my outfit?” Gao Shibao looked at his sportswear and said, ”I think it’s just fine!”

”Your outfit is too informal, not like what a civil servant should wear!” Ye Qing laughed.

”You just don’t get it. Who says civil servants have to wear suits and ties?” Gao Shibao laughed, ”Besides, my job is running around printing documents all day. What’s the point of wearing formal clothes? It’s more convenient to wear sportswear while running around. And what’s the big deal with meeting a friend? It’s not like it’s a date, why dress so nicely? You’re not really planning to introduce me to a girl, are you? Let me tell you, your sister-in-law has quite a temper; be careful she doesn’t come and beat us both up!”

Ye Qing burst into laughter and didn’t explain further to Gao Shibao, anyway, he just dragged him to a clothing store and dressed him up from head to toe.

Gao Shibao was already tall and good-looking, and with the change of clothes, he immediately looked much more spirited. As they say, clothes make the man, and this outfit really added some points to him.

Su Kaicheng’s second uncle needed a secretary, and Ye Qing was taking Gao Shibao there to try out this opportunity. If he dressed too poorly, he might not even get a chance at a first impression. With this outfit, at least he would look presentable!

Of course, Gao Shibao’s bicycle definitely couldn’t be ridden. However, this guy was really meticulous; he even locked his bicycle to a railing outside the hotel so it wouldn’t get stolen.

Seeing Gao Shibao’s cautious demeanor, Ye Qing couldn’t help but recall his own life at school. Back then, Gao Shibao wasn’t as meticulous as he was now. It showed that these past few years had indeed been rough for him; in the Capital, many times, even having enough food was a tough task.

With Gao Shibao and Huangfu Ziyu with him, Ye Qing directly took a taxi to the Capital City Finance Bureau.

Finance, no matter where it is placed, is always crucial. However, the finance bureau in the Capital is slightly less significant than the local finance bureau, since the Ministry of Finance is established in the Capital. But, the Capital City Finance Bureau also has a great advantage: you can easily cross into the Ministry of Finance from there, since they are in the same place.

So, the Capital City Finance Bureau may not have much real power, but it’s definitely not a simple department.

Gao Shibao is also a civil servant, and of course, he knows the status of the Capital City Finance Bureau. And he was merely an office worker in the neighborhood, having only passed by the finance bureau without going inside before.

Now, Ye Qing had actually brought him to the gates of the finance bureau, and Gao Shibao was stunned, staring at the finance bureau door in amazement and saying, ”Ye Zi, where... where are you taking me?”

”To meet a friend,” Ye Qing laughed, ”I already told you, didn’t I?”

”Your... your friend works here... works here?” Gao Shibao looked at the finance bureau door and felt a bit uneasy, rubbing the corner of his clothes while saying softly, ”This... this is the Capital City Finance Bureau. How about we... we wait till he gets off work to see him? Going in like this, if the leaders inside see us, that... that wouldn’t be good!”

Ye Qing smiled and said, ”You don’t need to worry; he is the leader here!”
