Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 334: Chapter 316: Who is Hu Si?

”The smile is so fake,” Hu Si looked at Luo Qianqian and said.

Luo Qianqian’s hand movements faltered, and Luo Xiying looked at Luo Qianqian’s expression with a touch of heartache, understanding all too well her feigned happiness—it was her way to lessen his worries. He pretended not to notice, so as not to burden her with guilt.

Luo Yanwu, however, watched Luo Qianqian with scrutinizing eyes and spoke, ”You’ll take your time and explain this to me later, otherwise, I can’t guarantee I won’t sleepwalk and chatter about it in Grandpa’s room.”

The corner of Luo Qianqian’s mouth twitched; she had known this brother for so long, how could she not be aware that he could sleepwalk? Yet, she stopped smiling and her face returned to being cheerless, as she hung her head low, lost in thought.

Old Master Wei gave a soft cough and said, ”Let’s eat.”

Luo Qianqian silently ate her meal, her gaze shifting restlessly between Hu Si and Luo Yanwu. Luo Yanwu, as her cousin, naturally wouldn’t do anything to her, maybe just scare her a little, just showing concern. But Hu Si didn’t look like good news, with his fox-like eyes and droopy eyelids, he didn’t seem easy to fool. She wasn’t worried about forgetting the hypnosis incident slipping out, but she had other secrets - rebirth, the secret that couldn’t be shared with anyone. If she wasn’t careful and let something slip, she might well end up being dissected for research.

Seeing Luo Qianqian’s wary gaze, Hu Si put down his chopsticks, raised an eyebrow and said, ”What? Are you afraid of me?”

Luo Qianqian was startled, quickly bowed her head, and bit on her chopsticks without saying a word. Luo Xiying sighed, poured a glass of water for Luo Qianqian and said, ”If you can’t eat, don’t force yourself.” He thought she was just feeling unwell.

Old Master Wei decisively said, ”Bring the porridge; it should be ready by now.”

Luo Qianqian looked up in surprise, she couldn’t eat much indeed as her injuries were severe, but she never expected someone as high and mighty as Old Master Wei to show such concern for her.

Noticing Luo Qianqian’s gaze, Old Master Wei smiled, ”I’m not that attentive, it was your aunt who mentioned it.”

Luo Qianqian looked at Chang Xi’s mother, touched.

Hu Si glanced at Luo Qianqian, took out his phone, typed a few words, and then nodded at Old Master Wei. Only then did Old Master Wei look relieved and said to Luo Qianqian, ”Do you have to take exams when you return this time?”

Luo Qianqian was taken aback, and then nodded.

”That’s great, take more time to rest, and Little Luo as well, don’t be too hasty,” Old Master Wei nodded.

Luo Qianqian was puzzled, just to say that?

At that moment, the porridge was served. Luo Qianqian looked at the finely chopped meat and vegetables in the porridge, gently scooped a spoonful, blew on it, and brought it to her mouth, then felt a sourness in her nose and an urge to cry.

Seeing the mist in Luo Qianqian’s eyes, Luo Yanwu patted his sister’s shoulder with a bit of helplessness.

”Your aunt made it specially for you. It’s not too thick, and the meat is tender. Give it a try,” Chang Xi’s mother said, smiling gently.

”Thank you, Auntie,” Luo Qianqian nodded her head, no longer caring that the porridge was still scorching hot, she began to wolf it down.

”Qianqian,” Luo Xiying frowned.

”Uncle, I’m fine,” Luo Qianqian raised her head and smiled, but this kind of care felt like a mother’s love, making her miss her mother, especially at times like these when she was scared and hurt. Her tears uncontrollably fell into the bowl, and she ate them as well: ”Thank you, Auntie, it’s delicious.”

After dinner, Luo Yanwu looked quietly at the girl with a sorrowful face, who sat motionless and silent on the side.

”Take Qianqian out for a walk, let her get some fresh air,” Luo Xiying naturally noticed that her nephew and niece had something to discuss and took the initiative to speak first.

Luo Yanwu nodded and started pushing the wheelchair out the door.

Only then did the faces of the few people in the room change, ”Mr. Hu, how is it?”

”I am sixty percent confident, but there’s nothing to be done at this time. She’s still injured, and moreover, she has exams. Pulling out his mobile phone, Hu Si pointed to several dates and said indifferently, ”After the graduation exams, she will need time to recuperate. In this period, she can just attend classes. There’s no physical exertion. After the college entrance exam, I’ll take her away.”

”What about her during this time...” Bai Yixian still felt somewhat distressed. He had seen how Luo Qianqian was during this time, and if it were to continue like this, how would it be any different from staying in that impoverished land?

”I’ll prescribe her some medicine and take her to Heiyu’s place at night. His research institute has the equipment necessary to ensure she enters deep sleep,” Hu Si pondered and then added, ”As for the Luo family, it’s better to keep them in the dark. Old Master Luo’s health can’t take the shock.”

Luo Xiying nodded, ”I understand. No one on our side would say anything.”

”Alright, aside from the two days she needs to go back for the exams twice, we’ll bring the equipment with us. Other than that, she cannot leave Beijing,” Hu Si sighed deeply, thinking that this child was terribly unlucky, having to face all this at such a young age.

Luo Xiying’s eyes turned towards the window, where Luo Yanwu was half-kneeling in front of Luo Qianqian.

”Why didn’t you tell your brother everything? Don’t you trust your brother to bring Xiaowu back?” Luo Yanwu said as he touched Luo Qianqian’s leg, which was in a cast, feeling a twist in his heart as tears fell.

Luo Qianqian wiped away Luo Yanwu’s tears with her hands in a messy fashion, ”Third Brother, my brother is also your brother. How could I just sit around waiting for news and take no action? Don’t you trust me, Third Brother?”

Luo Yanwu shook his head, ”I had no idea you had suffered so much.”

”Third Brother, it’s all in the past. I like it when Third Brother is smiling. You look so handsome that it could captivate thousands of young girls,” Luo Qianqian said as she gazed at the sun high in the sky. ”It’s cold now, but there’s still the sun. Even though it’s far away, it’s not completely out of sight. We must always have hope.”

”What if it comes true?” Hu Si appeared at the doorway, joining the conversation, then looked at Luo Qianqian, frowning, ”How did you, a minor, manage to trick someone into getting you an ID card?”

”Do you have something to say?” Luo Qianqian’s attitude towards this person wasn’t good. From the first glance, she felt somewhat creeped out.

”Yes, I’m taking you for a check-up.” Hu Si’s smile was sinister, ”If they scoop out your brain, you won’t have nightmares anymore.”

Luo Qianqian’s face paled, but she quickly realized he was joking and snorted coldly before turning her head to look at Luo Yanwu, ”Third Brother, could you bring Fourth Brother here tomorrow? I have something I need his help with.”

Luo Yanwu furrowed his brow, clearly unhappy, ”What’s the matter that you can’t ask me but need to find that kid?”

Luo Qianqian closed her eyes, and after a long while, she opened them again, ”There are things, only Fourth Brother can do.”

”Such as, singing.” Hu Si chimed in from the side again.

Luo Qianqian’s complexion grew even paler. Looking at Hu Si with terror in her eyes, who was this person, and how could he know so much about her family affairs? Not many people knew that Luo Yanran was the singer Yhan Miyuan.

Luo Qianqian’s terrified look pleased Hu Si, who then bent his eyes in a smile at her.
