Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 330: Chapter 312: Reunion with an Old Friend

Watching Luo Qianqian seemingly forcing herself to stay awake, becoming more and more haggard, everyone was extremely anxious. Fortunately, they had arrived at their destination. Luo Xiying had already made a phone call to have someone pick them up. He gently placed Luo Qianqian into the wheelchair, a trace of anxiety slipping from his eyes.

”Let’s go to the hospital first and see what’s wrong with her.” After carrying Luo Qianqian into the car, Qin Nuan and Xu Tianyi didn’t leave either, insistently following behind Bai Yixian and Luo Xiying, refusing to leave. Luo Xiying sighed, ”You should go home and rest first. After resting, come back to visit her at the hospital. I’ll leave you my phone number.”

After hearing this, Xu Tianyi touched Luo Qianqian’s forehead and, looking into her spiritless eyes, said, ”I’ll visit you tomorrow, listen to the doctor, alright?” Then he bade farewell to Luo Xiying, Bai Yixian, and Qin Nuan and left in a taxi.

Qin Nuan paused for a moment, then nodded her head and left by taxi as well. The most important thing right now was Luo Qianqian’s treatment, not the time to be petulant.

Bai Yixian got into the front passenger seat, looking back at Luo Qianqian leaning against Luo Xiying, a wave of distress washing over him: ”Why do I feel like Qianqian hasn’t slept at all?”

Luo Qianqian gave a weak smile, her voice barely audible: ”I’m fine, don’t tell Grandpa.”

Luo Xiying sighed and nodded: ”Behave yourself and I won’t tattle.”

Luo Qianqian let out a sigh of relief, gasping for air in Luo Xiying’s arms, having refused to sleep for days, even resorting to harming herself to stay awake. Now she was nearly reaching her limit, clearly feeling her heart beating faster.

”Oh yes, that kid from the Xu Family...” Bai Yixian suddenly remembered something, but looking at the frail Luo Qianqian in Luo Xiying’s arms, he held back from speaking.

”Don’t worry too much about kids’ stuff; Qianqian isn’t indecisive,” Luo Xiying said, stroking Luo Qianqian’s hair, his gaze somewhat deep. But he chose to trust her; after all, she was his own family’s child. Whatever choices this child made, he would support them.

Bai Yixian nodded. The car stopped – they had arrived at the hospital. Bai Yixian took out the wheelchair from the trunk, and Luo Xiying lifted Luo Qianqian into it, carefully wrapping her tightly in a blanket so that not a breeze could get through.

Luo Qianqian’s spirit was scattered, but she still tried to hold herself together, not knowing what had happened, the whole world spinning around her in a daze.

The doctor who was notified in advance by Luo Xiying was shocked when he saw Luo Qianqian’s obviously troubled state. The child was clearly still young; how had she managed to torment herself to this extent? Glancing at Luo Xiying with a questioning look, he only saw him shake his head.

After a thorough examination, he frowned, ”Has this child not slept for the past few days?” He quietly pulled Luo Xiying aside to ask.

Luo Xiying’s own brow furrowed. He had considered this possibility, but was afraid to confirm it. Now, he was even more certain that Luo Qianqian had been agitated. After hesitating for a moment, he roughly explained the situation and added, ”Maybe give her something calming, like a sedative, so she can get a good night’s sleep. She can’t hold on much longer; she’s completely out of it.”

The doctor nodded, ”Haven’t you contacted Ke Yin? ...In this condition, she would be more helpful than me.”

”If you can’t do anything, I’ll have to contact her,” Luo Xiying said with a sigh, his gaze somewhat unfocused.

The doctor patted his shoulder, ”It’s all in the past. Ke Yin is a very ethical psychologist. She wouldn’t demand you do anything because of this child.” After speaking, he went into the hospital room, wrote a few lines, and had the nurse administer a sedative to Luo Qianqian. Although Luo Qianqian was completely out of it, she still knew, when the time came, what it was for, but she was too weak to resist, not even feeling any pain when the needle entered her body.

In a daze, everything went dark before her eyes. After holding on for several days, she ultimately fell asleep. As she closed her eyes, the familiar blood-red space appeared once again. Luo Qianqian cried and screamed as she ran, but it was to no avail.

Luo Xiying stood by her bedside, watching her thrash about with a face full of terror, still muttering words that seemed to be filled with fear. His heart ached even more. Why did his little niece have to suffer like this?

The doctor patted his shoulder, and he finally made up his mind, took out his cellphone, and turned to leave the ward.

The doctor let out a slight sigh, looking at the child on the bed drenched in cold sweat, and gently wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead with a tissue, whispering, ”Everything will be alright.”

Luo Xiying hesitated for a long time in the corridor before his fingers trembled as he keyed in that familiar number: ”Hello?”

”...”

”Yes, it’s me... Uh, there’s a little issue... No, it’s about my niece... Okay... Then I’ll bring her to you tomorrow afternoon at one.”

After hanging up, his face wore a blank expression, as he had actually contacted that person.

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, barely there, as he looked at the child on the bed, who no longer resembled his lively and cheerful little niece. He clenched his cellphone, walking back into the ward and touched Luo Qianqian’s forehead: ”Don’t worry, your uncle will take good care of you, just relax.”

As though feeling the warmth on her forehead, Luo Qianqian’s expression was still one of terror, but her arms and legs weren’t thrashing around as much.

”Did you get in touch?” the doctor asked Luo Xiying in surprise, as if not expecting him to act so quickly.

Luo Xiying nodded, sitting on a stool beside Luo Qianqian’s bed: ”My niece’s welfare is my top priority.”

Then he turned to the doctor, ”Zhang Ze, thank you for your help today.”

Zhang Ze waved his hand dismissively, ”How many years have we known each other? There’s no need for such formality.”

Luo Xiying smiled but his expression was strained, ”If the Master asks, tell him I came for a check-up, don’t mention her situation. He might not be able to handle it.”

Zhang Ze gave a nod, having some understanding of the Luo family’s situation. This young girl was far more cherished in the Luo family than their ’later-life child’, the fourth young master of the Luo family. And yet this fourth young master, Luo Xiying, known as the Killer God in the military, seemed oblivious and loved his little niece dearly. He said it was a kind of kinship feeling they had; otherwise, it was no coincidence that he was able to save her in time.

She slept until noon the next day, Luo Qianqian was woken by the sunshine. Although it had been a mentally exhausting sleep, she was clearly feeling much better.

Qin Nuan and Xu Tianyi came to understand the situation and then went back to classes, saying they would come again after school.

Luo Xiying took a short nap in the chair at the side, and upon seeing Luo Qianqian open her eyes as if relieved of a heavy burden, he gently wiped the sweat from her forehead: ”Qianqian, your uncle will take you to see a doctor later, don’t overthink it, okay?”

Luo Qianqian forced a smile: ”If it’s a psychologist, I naturally won’t overthink, but if it’s a psychiatrist, uncle, you know... people with mental illnesses aren’t criminally responsible for murder...” Her threatening gaze made Luo Xiying less heavy-hearted.

He laughed and patted the top of Luo Qianqian’s head: ”Don’t worry, at most it’ll be a psychologist. Who would dare to say you’re mentally ill? They’d be asking for trouble, wouldn’t they?”

Luo Qianqian nodded, knowing she couldn’t solve her condition on her own anymore, and that aside from seeking help from a psychologist, there were no other options.
