Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Biting Incident

```
After getting the okay from Luo’s Mom, Luo Qianqian began figuring out how to play the ’good little girl’ on Christmas Eve. Since she’d always been well-behaved at home for the sake of her mom and brother, this opportunity, along with Xiao Yu who loved to watch the drama unfold, was a perfect scene straight out of a soap opera. How could someone born to be a spectator miss such a show?
There’s a saying that goes like this: those who love to watch the excitement never think the situation is too serious; you can never understand despair unless you’ve experienced it yourself.
Anyway, she was young, and playing the poor, innocent little thing was right up her alley.
”Qianqian,” Luo Shufan’s slightly deep voice came from outside the door, ”may I come in?”
”Brother?” Luo Qianqian put away the novel He Wenyu had given her, then said, ”Come in.”
Luo Shufan, with a somber expression, pushed open his sister’s room door, only to see her sitting obediently at her desk with a workbook on it. He rubbed the back of his head, temporarily at a loss for the scolding he had intended, ”Doing homework?”
”No.” Luo Qianqian looked at the desk where even a pen hadn’t been prepared, and honestly shook her head, ”What’s wrong, brother? Why aren’t you asleep at this late hour?”
”I heard that you’re going to a classmate’s house for a party on Christmas Eve?” Luo Shufan nodded slightly, moved the little stool from behind the door beside his sister and sat down, ”With whom? How come you didn’t tell me?”
Luo Qianqian thought to herself, how could I still go out if you knew about it? You would definitely veto it. Pulling a grin, she cooed, ”I just told mom, thinking if mom didn’t agree, telling you would have been pointless, and I’d be happy for nothing. I was just about to tell you, and here you are.”
Her heart was guilty, but she didn’t show it and maintained an innocent face.
”Really?” Luo Shufan looked skeptically at his sister’s face, only to relax when it didn’t seem to be fake, then he asked again, ”Who is it? Where will it be?”
”I’m going with Xiao Yu, don’t worry. My classmate said there would be transportation to pick us up and drop us off. They’ll come to our house to get me, so Mom and you don’t have to worry.” Luo Qianqian, seeing her brother still seemed to fret over who had invited her, quickly picked up a workbook from the side, randomly flipped it open and pretended to be troubled, ”Brother, can you help me with this problem? I just can’t figure it out.”
Luo Shufan, truly a scholastic prodigy in his past life, immediately looked at the problem when he saw his sister struggling, but said something that made Luo Qianqian grimace, ”Don’t think I’ll forget just like that. Once we finish this, we’ll continue to discuss the who, when, where, and what.” Saying so, he grabbed a pencil from the second batch of ’Luo Shenyao’ shell pencil holders that were made later, ”Draw an auxiliary line right here...”
Luo Qianqian ground her molars. Why had her brother, who was so honest and straightforward in his previous life, become a bit sly like a fox in this life?
”So that’s how you do it. Do you understand now?” Luo Shufan looked up after finishing the problem and saw his sister grinding her teeth in frustration. He gave a wry smile and said, ”I’m just worried you might get bullied again. If you don’t want to say, let’s just drop it.” He then added softly, ”Anyway, it’s the same if I ask Xiao Yu.”
”I give up, it’s Zhang Jingjing. I was afraid you wouldn’t agree, that’s why I didn’t say.” Luo Qianqian raised her hands in surrender, looking at her brother’s awkward demeanor, ”We’re not exactly on good terms, but she’s been asking for my help lately, so she won’t do anything to me.”
As soon as Luo Shufan heard that someone was asking his sister for a favor, his face darkened, and he playfully tugged at his sister’s little braid, ”If you dare to help someone cheat, I’ll show you what it means to unleash the Devil big brother whose Seal has been lifted!”
”Brother, are you having a bout of chuunibyou?” Luo Qianqian, hearing about Seals being lifted, couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. Although in her previous life, there was a time when she would pick up a small stick and say things like, ”Key that hides the power of darkness, reveal your true power before me. By the name of your new master, Qianqian, I command you, break the Seal!” How embarrassing that felt.
```

”Hm? What’s wrong? Did my voice change?” Luo Shufan hastily spoke up to check his voice upon hearing his sister say he was acting strange. He even touched his head, puzzled, ”It’s not hot.” Then he reached out to feel his sister’s forehead, ”Haven’t you washed up yet?” Feeling the warmth, he figured, given his sister’s laziness, she’d be too lazy to wash with cold water.

”Brother, you really do resemble the Demon King,” Luo Qianqian said, shaking her head as her brother mentioned washing up and thinking about the cold water. She quickly engaged all her brain cells to flatter her brother since he said something about breaking a seal to become a devilish older brother, so he must be a devil, and of course, the most powerful devil would have to be the Demon King.

”Really? I also feel like I am the most like one, but Yang Yang says he’s taller so he should be the one,” Luo Shufan said as he compared their heights, standing up to look at his sister who only came up to his waist, and measured with his hand: ”I’m not short either.”

Watching her brother’s hand wavering above her head, Luo Qianqian really couldn’t take it anymore, jumped up, bit down hard on his hand, and wouldn’t let go, as if to say, take that for calling me short.

”Ow, Mom, come and see, Qianqian is biting people, has she gone rabid?” Luo Shufan cried out in pain, but still worried about hurting Luo Qianqian, so he didn’t shake off his sister who clung on like a little dog.

Hearing her son’s call for help, Luo’s Mom quickly set down what she was doing, entered the room, and couldn’t help but be torn between laughter and tears, only able to say, ”Qianqian, let go.”

Luo Qianqian, feeling aggrieved, loosened her bite and defended herself, ”Brother was picking on me,” she said, on the verge of tears.

Luo’s Mom saw the bite marks on Luo Shufan’s hand and secretly thought how fiercely her daughter had bitten him to the point of drawing blood. Seeing the missing front tooth spot untouched, she found it somewhat amusing. But after hearing her daughter’s complaint, her face darkened, ”How could you bully your sister?”

Luo Shufan felt wronged and looked at his mother’s stern face in shock, his eyes filling with tears as he shouted at Luo Qianqian, ”You’re lying!” Then wiping away tears, he screamed at Luo’s Mom, ”You’re biased!!!”

Luo’s Mom was taken aback for a moment, looking at her aggrieved son and her bewildered daughter, considering how the daughter never lied normally and how much more sensible she had become over the past year. She used to take her sensibleness as a lesson to educate her son, wanting him to act more like a big brother. Thinking of this, she said sternly, ”Mom is not biased. You are the big brother, shouldn’t you be looking after your younger sister? You are the big brother.”

”I wasn’t a brother before. I was just the only son of my parents. It was only after my sister was born that I had no dad and had to take care of my younger sister. Being older, looking after my sister is what a brother should do. But that’s not an excuse for my words not being believed! Is a sister’s whining the truth now? Mom, you’re biased.” Luo Shufan raised his voice and glared at Luo’s Mom, saying angrily, ”I’m very happy Qianqian is my sister, and not the snotty kid downstairs or those whiny little brats. I’m proud she’s smart and cute, but that doesn’t mean I can accept everything she says. I’d be heartbroken to see my sister cry, but Mom, you can’t be too biased! How could I bully my sister?”

Luo Qianqian, listening to her brother’s words, choked up. Since her rebirth, no, for the first time in her life, she saw her brother crying so pitifully. Ignoring the fact that they were in the midst of a quarrel or that she was the one who had just tattled to Luo’s Mom, she threw herself into her brother’s arms, ”Brother, I’m sorry, it’s my fault, I won’t do it again, does it hurt a lot? I’ll let you bite me too.” The brother and sister embraced, tears streaming down their faces, Luo Qianqian paying no attention to her brother’s white clothes as she smeared her runny nose and tears all over him.

”Gross, we haven’t even washed up yet. I find that disgusting,” Luo Shufan retorted, looking at his sister’s chubby little hand with distaste and swatting it away. Pinching his sister’s snotty nose awkwardly, he moved her out of his embrace, ”Look at you, getting all dirty. Don’t hug me. You’re not the one who’ll wash the clothes when they get dirty.”

Luo’s Mom, watching the sobbing siblings before her, suddenly felt as if everything was her fault. Shaking her head, she said, ”Qianqian, you mustn’t lie again in the future, especially to your family. Because you’re younger, Mom will pay more attention to you.” Then, turning to Luo Shufan, she contemplated how quickly he was catching up to her in height and patted his head, saying with relief, ”You’re already grown up, and you’ve known to protect your sister early on. Mom trusts you with that, but it doesn’t mean I’m biased. I hope more often you’ll handle problems on your own and develop an independent character. Mom loves both of you the same.”

Luo Qianqian stuck out her tongue silently. Both she and her brother knew, and even Luo’s Mom was well aware, that she doted on her more; this was a fact.

”You’re right to dote on Qianqian. She’s such a good sister, I’d go out of my way to buy her the best of everything,” Luo Shufan said, no longer angry, as he watched his sister rubbing her hands with a look of regret on her face. With his uninjured hand, he gently pinched her soft cheek, ”From now on, you’re not allowed to bite your brother anymore. If you break the skin, I’ll have to go get a rabies shot. If you want meat, go see your godmother. I’ll buy you pig trotters.”
