Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 63: Chapter 63: The Study Group is Formed

Luo Qianqian came home and told her mother, and Luo’s Mom agreed immediately. When it came to anything related to studying, Luo’s Mom always gave her children the freedom to make their own decisions.

”Shufan, from now on, study with your sister. I don’t feel at ease about Qianqian and Xiao Yu being alone,” Luo’s Mom said directly to Luo Shufan who had just entered the house with a soccer ball in his arms. ”Also, Qianqian, from now on I’ll send money with your brother. If you’re hungry, eat something, don’t go hungry.”

”Okay.” Luo Qianqian had barely gotten out a word when she was dragged into Luo Shufan’s room by her brother.

”What did you say to Mom, how come she agreed to you coming home late?” Luo Shufan knew how strict their mother could be. It didn’t matter if he came home late, but his sister would definitely get a severe talking-to if she was late.

Luo Qianqian rubbed her arm that her brother had reddened from dragging her, and glared at him, ”Aren’t you aware of the task you set for me? I almost thought I was being kidnapped again.”

”The Bai Yizhu incident, huh? That kid isn’t bad, plays soccer well, just a bit dumb, takes too long to teach him,” Luo Shufan said, seeing his sister’s angry face, he let down his guard. His sister would actually ignore him when she was truly angry and wouldn’t show an angry expression. Her making a face meant she wasn’t actually angry, just wanted him to coax her, to act up a bit.

Luo Qianqian crossed her arms in front of her chest, turned her head away, and wouldn’t even glance at Luo Shufan, ”Hmph.”

”Good Qianqian, sweet Qianqian, look, your brother even bought you candy to eat,” Luo Shufan hurriedly took out the lollipop Luo Qianqian liked from his pocket, luckily he had bought it after playing soccer, ”That kid’s sports reflexes aren’t bad, isn’t it because your brother is afraid of his good little sister getting bullied? Plus, there’s no bodyguard fee needed, a free bodyguard, how great is that?”

”Aren’t you afraid I’ll be sold? Do you even know what happened last time...” Luo Qianqian stopped there. Her brother didn’t know she was conscious when she was kidnapped. If she accidentally let it slip and Mom found out, it would definitely be troublesome, ”Do you know that he was also there when we got beaten up last time?”

”I know, he said he saw it, but he hid because those guys looked menacing. He was thinking of waiting for them to leave before calling the police to rescue us,” Luo Shufan patted his sister’s head, ”Don’t worry, he’s a good guy. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have let him go to find you, would I? If anything happened to you, wouldn’t Mom kill me?”

Brother, not only is that ”good guy” in cahoots with that group of menacing people, but he’s also the younger brother of the Boss who kidnapped me, and he’s lied to you as well.

”Then how did he get into Experimental Middle School with such poor grades?”

Seeing that his sister wasn’t holding a grudge anymore, Luo Shufan threw his backpack onto the bed and replied, ”It seems like his family is pretty rich, and he even took some time off school. I get the feeling he’s a kid whose family doesn’t take care of him much, but his nature is still very kind-hearted.”

”Brother, can you tell me how you guys met?” Luo Qianqian listened as her brother repeatedly praised his kindness, really wanting to ask what kind of mind-bewitching drug Bai Yizhu gave her brother to make him speak so highly of him without reservation.

”Remember the soccer game with Third Middle School before? We were initially down 0:1, and at the last minute, I was blocked and had no choice but to pass the ball to him. He actually took a shot from that angle, and it went in! Later, when I asked, it turned out he was also in the first year and just substituting for a classmate that day,” Luo Shufan narrated with excitement still evident in his voice, ”After that, we walked together, and he even said he’d treat me to a meal to thank me for my pass. The burgers and chicken wings at ’Fragrance Comes’ are super delicious, and he’s a good and honest guy.” Luo Shufan suddenly saw the unexpected look on his sister’s face and hurriedly added, ”I’ll take you there this weekend too, okay? You can eat whatever you want.”

Luo Qianqian couldn’t help rolling her eyes, who cares about that bit of food, ”Then what?”

”Then? Well, he came to see me today at noon and said since I’m studying pretty well, he hoped I could tutor him. He said if he keeps failing, his family won’t pay his tuition or give him pocket money anymore, and they’ll make him work instead.” Luo Shufan shook his head with a heavy sigh, ”I’ve never seen parents treat their child like this. So, I thought, since I have to play soccer and you don’t have much to do, it’d be just right to have him pick you up and protect you. Studying with him for a while would be good for you too.”

Luo Qianqian really wanted to scream; she had never seen a brother as foolish as him. Work? Cruel parents? That guy has a brother in the mob, okay?

”So you sold me out? Don’t you know what I do when I get home at night?” Luo Qianqian glared at her brother, and Luo Shufan guiltily hung his head.

His sister was right; every night... she was helping him with all sorts of punishment writing assignments. Because he was the class president, he would get involved over any little issue, so Luo Shufan always had a lot of homework. The quick-witted Luo Qianqian wouldn’t help with thinking, but she would still help a bit with writing, without Luo’s Mom noticing.

”After all, he’s my friend. Qianqian, just help out, will you? He’ll even treat you to cake, and a little improvement is still an improvement.” Luo Shufan straight away opened his backpack, stuffed the crispy noodles he bought at noon into his sister’s hands, ”I haven’t even eaten yet, all the good stuff is for you. I’ve already promised him, I can’t back out now, can I?”

”Who would eat this? I need to eat proper meals to grow taller.” Luo Qianqian made a disgusted face and threw the crispy noodles back on Luo Shufan’s backpack. She would never admit that she used to eat more than anyone else.

”Yes, yes, yes, how about I go buy pig trotters on Saturday and ask godmother to make them for you? Is that good?” Luo Shufan had to resort to his trump card, the ’Fragrance Comes’ brand pig trotters.

”Shame on you for bringing that up. Since you started middle school, you’ve stopped buying pig trotters, stopped taking me to the beach, registered a trademark but haven’t sold anything, just displaying it like you’re waiting to give birth? I’m out of money, totally out of money, and you’re not earning any but still thinking about eating and spending,” Luo Qianqian grumbled as she pulled on Luo Shufan’s arm and shook it vigorously.

Luo Shufan claimed his innocence, wondering who said that after he started middle school, he would be too busy and that making money should wait until the holidays? Who said that studying was the most important thing and getting into a good university mattered more than anything else? Now he felt like the person who said those understanding words and the irrational Great Demon King in front of him simply couldn’t be the same person.

”Yes, yes, I won’t spend money. I’ll tell Mom that from now on, our family will only eat veggies, the cheapest ones like cabbage and radish, and we don’t even need to add meat. Saving money is what matters most,” Luo Shufan said helplessly as he let his sister wag his arm around.

”You dare?! Do you believe I’ll never help you with those stupid punishment assignments again?” Luo Qianqian instantly stopped tormenting Luo Shufan’s arm, her eyes wide with the fear that he might actually agree.

”Yes, yes, so do we want godmother to make pig trotters this weekend?” ’Taking advantage of the slope to make a move,’ a tactic he learned from his sister. If he continued to argue with her, he was sure to lose, because after all, his sister’s word was law at home.

”Hmph, do you even need to ask?” Luo Qianqian released her brother’s arm. ”I’ve told Mom that you’ll study too, so don’t think you can rest easy and just go play soccer. I’m going to talk to godmother about this,” Luo Qianqian said as she bounced downstairs to He Wenyu’s house.

Less than ten minutes later she was back upstairs, and seeing the three big apples in his sister’s arms, Luo Shufan knew that godfather and godmother would certainly not reject this arrangement.
