Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: A Fox Borrowing the Tiger’s Might, Takes in a Young Tiger Cub as a Student (Part 1)

”Damn!!!” Luo Qianqian jumped high, keeping more than a meter away from Bai Yizhu: ”I was wondering who you reminded me of, Pale-faced Scholar, that effeminate wimp.”

An effeminate wimp? Pale-faced Scholar? Bai Yizhu touched his chin thoughtfully. If he hadn’t misunderstood, she must be talking about his brother?

”Bai Yizhu? Your brother’s name is Bai Yixian? So, do your parents have someone named Hua Nian?” Luo Qianqian suddenly recalled a poem she’d written a few days ago, ”The Beautiful Lady Yu.”

The Beautiful Lady Yu’s lute has fifty strings unwarranted, each string, each peg sings of the yearning for Hua Nian.

Zhuang Zhou dreams at dawn confused as a butterfly, longs for the Emperor’s spring heart to trust unto the thrush.

The sea’s bright moon weeps pearls, the blue fields’ sunny jade emits smoke.

This love awaits remembrance, yet already I am lost in reverie.

”Luo Qianqian, Luo Shufan indeed didn’t recommend the wrong person, and I didn’t seek the wrong one.” Bai Yizhu smiled: ”My mother’s name is Hua Nian.”

”...Are you the submissive or dominant type?” Luo Qianqian kept a stance ready to retreat, her eyes shining as she looked at Bai Yizhu.

The smile on Bai Yizhu’s face started to falter: ”I like women.”

”Don’t be so sure, man. Opposite sex is just for reproduction, the same sex is true love.” Luo Qianqian smirked mischievously: ”Maybe you just haven’t met the right guy. Once you do, you might discover you can like guys, too.”

As Luo Qianqian spoke, Bai Yizhu’s face darkened. He Wenyu wanted to pull her back and stop her from talking, but hesitated because of the distance.

”Great, then I’ll definitely consider Luo Shufan as my first choice.” Bai Yizhu gritted his teeth with an odd smile on his face.

Luo Qianqian felt quite proud at first, but hearing Bai Yizhu’s words, her face also stiffened: ”What do you want with me? I’ll do my best, but you can’t mess with my brother’s sexuality. I’m still waiting to tail him when he has a premature romance.”

Tail him? Bai Yizhu and He Wenyu both opened their mouths in shock, Luo Shufan really has his hands full with a sister like her.

”Let’s go then, I’ll treat you to juice at that bakery,” said Bai Yizhu, looking at the two still skeptical people, without offering any explanation, and headed to the bakery first.

”The bakery isn’t his family’s, so let’s go check it out?” He Wenyu, seeing Bai Yizhu walking away, quickly came out from the school and grabbed Luo Qianqian to check if she was injured from top to bottom.

Luo Qianqian stood still, letting He Wenyu examine her: ”If he hadn’t said go to the bakery for drinks like milk tea, you’d probably have already dragged me away, huh?”

He Wenyu, flustered and annoyed, gave Luo Qianqian’s school uniform a hard slap: ”If you’re going, go quickly. Am I the kind of person who would disregard your safety over food?”

Luo Qianqian went along with a smile, pulling He Wenyu to catch up with Bai Yizhu’s pace: ’Yes, yes, let’s go. It’s dumb not to take advantage of an opportunity. Let’s see what he wants. After all, it was my brother who sent him.’ In truth, the moment he took out that yogurt-flavored lollipop, Luo Qianqian knew he was sent by her brother. Less than ten people knew she liked that candy, and those who knew were tight-lipped and wouldn’t spread her business around as a joke.

”No worries, I’m here. I’m also a Taekwondo high-level practitioner with a green belt,” said He Wenyu, assuming a Taekwondo stance.

Bai Yizhu, just a few steps away from the pair, couldn’t help but roll his eyes. With one hand, he wondered if he should flaunt the black belt he got years ago to the kids reassuring themselves they were at Green Belt level.

”I want vanilla milk tea and Black Forest cake, what about you guys?” Luo Qianqian visited this bakery for the first time. It wasn’t big, but it felt warm, with three tables, a glass display case, wallpaper that was a tender yellow, and though the tables were ordinary, the white tablecloths with red placemats made it feel quite romantic.

”Strawberry milk tea and strawberry cake,” He Wenyu looked at the various cakes in the display case, her fondness for strawberries unchanged.

”Plain milk,” Luo Qianqian didn’t even look at the price tag. She was young and aiming for fair skin—nothing was better than milk for both calcium and a paler complexion.

”Pfft,” Bai Yizhu turned away, covering his mouth, ”You really are like a baby that hasn’t been weaned yet.”

Playing with the note paper in her hand, Luo Qianqian said, ”Get to the point, and don’t think treating us means you’ll definitely get our help.”

”Aren’t you afraid I’ll just walk away without paying for your orders?” Bai Yizhu teased Luo Qianqian, who remained calm.

”Psh, buying my little sister some milk is something I can definitely handle as her big sister,” He Wenyu threw her backpack onto the table. ”Trying to scare someone with that? Don’t forget that it was the fight over money that got Rainbow Hair into the police station in the first place.”

”Xiao Yu, you bite so easily when someone’s just playing with you? We need to stay cool and then decide whether or not to agree to help with anything,” Luo Qianqian said with a half-smile, looking at Bai Yizhu. She didn’t understand the person before her, but she knew he was not someone to mess with, even more so than Bai Yixian.

Bai Yizhu curled his lip, ”It’s my brother who insists I educate myself, saying even if I want to be a thug, I have to be cultural. It’s only impressive to be a thug that no one can find fault with.”

”So you’re saying he’s the uncultured type?” Luo Qianqian thought of Bai Yixian, who seemed decent enough and didn’t associate him with thuggery at all.

”He’s a devil, cheerfully dumping tasks and goals on me before disappearing,” grumbled Bai Yizhu. ”I could understand the tasks since they involve you guys, and I’m partly to blame, but the goal he set for me is to get into college!!!”

”Can I ask how old you are?” Luo Qianqian eyed his neat junior high uniform, then thought about Rainbow Hair and their height and appearance—clearly, they weren’t the same age.

”Fourteen, why? Don’t let my age fool you, I catch on very quickly when studying,” Bai Yizhu smiled easily. ”Plus, I’m very approachable, well-liked by teachers and classmates alike.”

”So...” Luo Qianqian hesitated, speaking slowly, ”you’re here to study with me?”

”Right. I originally went to find Luo Shufan, but he said he was busy playing soccer and had no time, so he sent me to find you, and maybe see if anyone was bullying you so I could help protect you or something,” Bai Yizhu revealed a naive side that didn’t match his tough demeanor. ”He said as long as I offer you guys tasty treats, you’d agree to help me, and to remember to bring yogurt-flavored lollipops every day.”

”What grade are you in? What grade am I in? Are you sure you want my help?” Luo Qianqian spoke slowly, her eyes inquisitively studying Bai Yizhu’s face.

”I’m in the first year of junior high, and you’re in the first grade, right? My brother said that according to your records, I shouldn’t see you as an ordinary person. At five years old, you could handle elementary school entrance exam papers, nearly as capable as Luo Shufan. According to the records, you’re either a genius or an alien,” Bai Yizhu said candidly, with no concealment in his eyes.

”You actually investigated me?” Luo Qianqian stood up, surprised and blurting out.

Bai Yizhu opened his mouth but remained silent for a while, finally saying, ”After all, my brother accidentally hurt you, so it’s only fair to know more for future compensation,” he thought to himself: My actual task is to protect you siblings, did I say anything wrong?

”That’s fair, let your brother remember that, hmph, don’t think I’ve really forgotten anything.”
