Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Double Room

”It’s a good thing you two are siblings,” Meng Xuedao remarked. Who could have predicted that both the boy and the girl are single children? Nowadays, students don’t love to share a room with their teachers. Luckily, there’s a pair of siblings who don’t need to avoid each other. Otherwise, we would have to pay extra to change rooms, and then whoever slept alone would feel it was unfair.”

”Actually, my brother could share a room with Teacher Meng, and I could share with the pretty lady teacher~” Luo Qianqian then saw her brother’s eyes widening and quickly corrected herself, ”But there’s no need to trouble the teacher with taking care of a child. My brother has the most experience with that.”

”Taking care of a child like you isn’t trouble at all, is it?” said Meng Xuedao. ”You don’t make trouble or cry for tasty food.”

”Should I start crying for candy then?” Luo Qianqian said as she began to pout, her eyes already welling up, looking like a storm was brewing.

Meng Xuedao quickly waved his hands, ”No, no, no, I’ll go buy candy in a bit.”

Luo Shufan laughed, took the key, and tapped his sister’s forehead with it: ”Let’s go, time to go back to our room and sleep. Aren’t you still tired?”

”I’m not foolish,” Luo Qianqian replied, rubbing her head. ”It’s so late already, it’s time for lunch, no, more like afternoon tea. Compared to sleeping, eating is more important.”

”I’ll go to the room to call everyone for a meal later. Don’t run off on your own, especially you two. Be careful not to get taken away by traffickers,” Teacher Meng said with a stern face, half-jokingly trying to scare them.

”We’ve been warned about that since early morning. We’ll go back and lie down for a while and come out when the teacher calls,” Luo Shufan said as he dragged their suitcase along, a backpack hanging on each shoulder, and still managing to grab hold of his sister with his free hand.

Luo Qianqian was dragged into the room by her brother grasping her hat; she had legs, after all, and wasn’t going to run off anywhere.

The room was a standard double with two single beds, a desk, a stool, and a TV. There was a toilet, but no shower. Luo Qianqian pursed her lips; this was the beginning of the century, and it wasn’t fair to expect standards from a decade or two later.

”Want to watch TV? There are candies and chocolates in the bag, and the suitcase has bread, milk, sausage, and juice. If you’re hungry, just help yourself,” Luo Shufan said as he dropped off the luggage and hurried into the bathroom, ”Don’t open the door for anyone, wait until I come out.”

”Oh...” Luo Qianqian obediently sat on the bed, turned on the TV, and started eating a lollipop.

”You know, if we were traveling farther, could you imagine suffocating on a train? Or would you wait for a stop with a longer waiting time to use the restroom? What if you got diarrhea?” Luo Shufan mused pleasantly from the bathroom.

Brother, did you really not use the toilet on the train? Holding it in the whole time? Aren’t you afraid of damaging yourself?

”Brother, I think there are toilets on the train.” After pondering for a while, Luo Qianqian decided to tell the truth to the person who had been holding it in for so long.

After a while, Luo Shufan’s muffled voice finally came from the bathroom, ”Then why didn’t anyone go...”

Luo Qianqian did not respond, just watched ’Journey to the West’ on TV with sincerity. It really is a classic, filmed without any special effects, all stunts, which was no easy feat.

”Shufan, are you there?” Hearing Yang Yang’s voice, Luo Qianqian decided to pretend she didn’t hear and stayed on the bed watching TV earnestly.

The person who had been disturbed by the knocking while squatting in the toilet came out, saw his sister leisurely watching TV, and while opening the door, asked, ”Why didn’t you open the door?”

”Brother, you said not to open the door no matter who knocked,” Luo Qianqian looked up at Luo Shufan with her eyes clearly conveying that she had been a good listener.

”What were you doing, taking forever to open the door?” Yang Yang punched Luo Shufan as soon as the door opened, ”Who are you staying with? I’m sharing a room with Xiao Hei from second year junior high.”

Luo Qianqian was lying on the bed; from the angle at the door, she was out of sight.

”My ancestor here,” Luo Shufan said, stepping aside to let Yang Yang into the room.

Luo Qianqian sucking on the candy, watched ’Journey to the West’ uninterested in engaging with them.

”Wow, I actually get to share a room with a girl!” Yang Yang said as he headed to sit on Luo Qianqian’s bed, only to be kicked onto a stool by Luo Shufan with a flying foot.

”This is a girl, a real girl, not a tall one with long legs.” Luo Shufan shook his head as he looked at Luo Qianqian, ”I can’t even feel at ease if she shares a room with someone else, who knows, she might cry in the middle of the night.”

Luo Qianqian kept rolling her eyes continuously, saying nothing.

”But it’s still a girl. I’ve always wanted a little sister in my life, but my mom wouldn’t give me one...” Yang Yang looked at Luo Qianqian with a face full of flattery as he spoke to Luo Shufan, ”How about I come over at night to share the bed with you? I can help take care of your sister?”

”Forget it,” Luo Shufan quickly shook his hand, other than sharing a bed with his parents when he was little, he had never shared with anyone else, and he was not used to it.

Luo Qianqian put on a cute smile and said, ”Here’s a phrase for you: Get lost.”

Yang Yang clutched at his heart and sprawled over the desk wailing, ”Ah, my fragile heart has been completely shattered by you guys, into tiny pieces.”

Luo Shufan clenched his fist, squinted his eyes, and leaned close to Yang Yang with a gentle expression, softly saying, ”Then, do you need me to help you fix it?”

”No need, no need,” Yang Yang, seeing an unfamiliar side of Luo Shufan, quickly shook his hand, his instincts telling him this Luo Shufan was not to be messed with, ”By the way, my mom brought some apples, do you guys want some?”

”After we eat, maybe,” Luo Qianqian continued to lie down and watch TV.

”Sit up, do you want to ruin your eyes?” Luo Shufan glared at his sister.

Luo Qianqian quickly got up, forgetting that at home it wasn’t Mom but this brother, not much older than her, who was always on her case. In order to set an example, he would painstakingly chew his food slowly before allowing himself to watch the TV shows he loved, which meant he could only catch the preview of the next episode each day.

”Shufan, big brother, you’re my brother from now on. Hang out with me when you’re free, will you?” Yang Yang looked at the obedient Luo Qianqian with envy.

Luo Shufan looked at his friend’s longing expression and decided not to expose his sister’s usual facade, ”When have I ever hung out with you? I have to go home to pamper my sister on weekends, I’m busy.”

Luo Qianqian showed a ’black question mark face’ and thought, You pamper me??? Then she resumed her expression and continued watching TV, not intending to expose her brother.

”We’ll come out and play together later, and bring your sister too. I’ll get you both some foreign chocolates,” offered Luo Shufan, which irresistibly made him frown.

”No thanks.”

”Don’t be like that, it’s not like I’m taking a kitten or a puppy that I won’t give back to you, this is a person, hey.” Yang Yang said, watching the little person pretending he didn’t exist on the bed became more amusing to him.

”Qianqian still has to study, not everyone is like you; smart but not hardworking,” Luo Shufan said coldly, looking at his friend. Why does he always try to entice his sister away?

Luo Qianqian felt ashamed; brother, you know the truth. In her previous life, didn’t she just rely on her intelligence without hard work, resulting in such an end? Clenching her fists tightly, this time she would not allow the same thing to happen again, and she wouldn’t let her brother suffer the same fate as in his previous life. With her around, even if it means changing fate, she wouldn’t let it end so tragically.

”Who talks about their best friend like that? Recently, you’ve been quite close with that Pretty Boy from class seven who plays soccer, haven’t you? You don’t hang out with me after school, you’re always with him,” Yang Yang blinked his large eyes at Luo Shufan. Luo Qianqian felt the hairs on her back stand up seeing this scene.

”Zhuzi? What Pretty Boy, he’s better at soccer than you, okay?” Luo Shufan touched his arm; just one look at his friend and he felt goosebumps all over.

”See, see, you despise me. You’d lend your sister to him to play with but not to me...”

”You want to play me?” Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but interrupt as she sat on the bed, ”Sure. This living doll doesn’t ask for much, just like a Barbie, I must bathe in milk every day, eat only the middle part of watermelons, strawberries and dragon fruits need to have their seeds picked out, and just give me a real Barbie dollhouse. There has to be a dog house next to the swimming pool, oh and, Barbie dolls have private jets, I can go to Paris to buy handbags, or to Spain for a steak, oh right...” She began to spout ridiculous demands in earnest, surely boys don’t watch those kinds of cartoons. But in the Barbie cartoon, there really is a villa.

”I... Shufan, is your family that rich?” Yang Yang’s eyes widened in shock.

”I’m just an ordinary daughter in my family; it’s you who wants to treat me like a Barbie doll. My brother sees me as a sister,” Luo Qianqian said with an icy face, the little rascal, thinking he could play her?
