Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Visitor from the Capital City

”Qianqian, I’ll pick you up tomorrow. Someone wants to meet you.” Over the weekend, while three people were at Old Zhang’s house receiving the lessons of love from Aijun during the class break, Yinyin secretly said to Luo Qianqian.

”Meet me? Who?” Luo Qianqian frowned. If she hadn’t gotten to know Yinyin well over the past year, she would have thought it was a scheme to traffick her.

Luo Shufan poked his head from behind the two, murmuring gloomily, ”Qianqian is a child and cannot go out alone.” If he hadn’t been extra cautious when he noticed Qianqian speaking alone with Yinyin frequently, the child would have been taken out again, perhaps sold without even knowing it. Having a brother is truly wonderful, Luo Shufan thought, his heart filled with happy bubbles.

”Someone from the Capital City, they found me and said they wanted to meet you,” Yinyin, knowing Shufan had heard, didn’t conceal it anymore and spilled it out.

Capital City? Luo Qianqian remembered the phone number Bai Yixian had given her earlier, her heart trembled. Could it be relatives from her father’s side?

Yinyin was frustrated and couldn’t speak out; when she was contacted, they asked for Zhou Luo; she left her phone number, and the first thing from the other end was asking her whether she was the Zhou or the Luo of Zhou Luo. Only family members were supposed to know that Zhou Luo referred to her and Luo Qianqian.

”Let’s go together, brother, to spare you the worry,” Luo Qianqian looked at Yinyin, then at her brother, and made up her mind.

A day passed with Luo Qianqian’s mind elsewhere; she didn’t even know what she had done.

Early on Sunday, before Luo’s mom woke up, Luo Qianqian had already climbed out of bed, burdened with an unknowable tension. Could it be someone from her father’s side?

”Qianqian, are you going to wear yesterday’s clothes?” When Luo Shufan woke up, Luo’s mom had already gone to work. He looked at his sister wearing the blouse stained with ink from yesterday, somewhat baffled by his sister’s thoughts. Normally, any stain on her clothes meant taking them off to wash. What was up today?

”Oh, I forgot to change my clothes.” It only dawned on Luo Qianqian after her brother mentioned it; she slapped her forehead, a bit too out of it: ”I’ll change right now.”

The three went to Old Zhang’s house, where He Wenyu just took the Golden Retriever, Xiao Yu, out for a walk, a daily mandatory routine.

”Qianqian, did you bring an umbrella?” Luo Shufan, looking at the gloomy sky, felt surprised. His sister was also out of sorts, and Xiao Yu had even gone out to walk the dog. Remembering this, he hurriedly said, ”Qianqian, Xiao Yu has gone out to walk the dog, and it looks like it’s about to rain.”

”Ah? Rain? Didn’t the weather forecast predict overcast? Besides, it’s so cold, shouldn’t it be snowing?” Luo Qianqian was taken aback; she hadn’t even brought her backpack today.

”Hey, by the time you remember me, I might have been washed away by a flood,” He Wenyu pushed open the door, expressing dissatisfaction with his buddy’s absent-mindedness this morning: ”Just when I stepped out, Uncle Zhang and Aunt Zhou came and said it was going to rain, and they brought me back with them.”

”Tsk, washed away? You think it’s going to flood here? This is a coastal city, that much water would flood half the city,” Luo Qianqian regained her senses and retorted.

”Aunt Zhou said she was coming to pick you up. Are you going to leave me behind?” He Wenyu looked at Luo Shufan, who was inseparable from his buddy, and said sulkily, ”It’s no fun for me to attend class alone.”

”Dad, let me take them all out. Yinyin and Qianqian have things to discuss, and I’ll take them around nearby. It won’t hurt much to miss a day or two of class,” Aijun, seeing He Wenyu’s unhappy face and looking at Luo Shufan wearing an expression of ’wherever my sister is, I am there,’ had no choice but to speak to Elder Zhang.

”I was about to say that, go ahead, take them. Send them back on time in the afternoon,” Elder Zhang, looking at the three little rascals, added, ”Don’t think just because there’s no class, there’s no homework. You’ll still have homework when you come back.” You think you can be happy without classes, huh? I can still handle you.

He Wenyu stared with eyes wide, a look of disbelief on his face, Luo Shufan had an ’I knew it’ expression, while Luo Qianqian still seemed lost in her thoughts, not knowing what she was thinking, her face only displaying bewilderment.

”We arranged to meet at the restaurant on the twenty-fourth floor, would you like to come up and eat with us?” Yinyin provided the address, and Aijun was driving to a high-level hotel.

”Forget it, we’ll walk around the adjacent mall, probably waiting at the first-floor KFC, if you come down remember to find us at KFC. If we’re not there, just wait at KFC until we come,” Aijun shook his head. A revolving restaurant, choosing such a place clearly meant not wanting others to disturb, considering the high prices there.

”Well, okay then,” Yinyin thought for a moment, understanding the significance, and nodded.

Upon arriving at the destination, they got out of the car with Luo Qianqian, but Zhang Aijun stopped them, ”Take the wallet, having money makes everything easier.” He then handed his own wallet to Zhou Yinyin.

”What about you? You still need to eat and shop.”

”I have another one in the car, don’t worry.” Zhang Aijun took out the wallet he used for gas and tolls, opened it to show Zhou Yinyin, and said with a smile, ”Your husband isn’t foolish, go on now.”

Zhou Yinyin nodded. Luo Qianqian regained her composure and looked at the couple enviously. To be favored by time at their ages of forty or fifty, showing no signs of aging, must be because they were so loving in their daily lives, right?

”Hello, may I ask if you are Miss Zhou?” As soon as they reached the twenty-fourth floor, someone came up to greet them and asked respectfully.

”Yes, I am.” Zhou Yinyin responded cautiously to the greeter. This was the person looking for them? It didn’t seem likely.

”The gentleman is waiting over here for you,” he said, guiding them inside.

Luo Qianqian felt increasingly nervous as they approached, and then she saw a young man wearing sunglasses and an elegant middle-aged man sitting together. She looked from one to the other and couldn’t see any connection to Luo Xiying.

”Hello, Mrs. Zhou, I am Yhan Miyuan’s agent, Sun Zhichao. I apologize for calling you here so abruptly.” The elegant middle-aged man stood up, pulled out chairs for Zhou Yinyin and Luo Qianqian, and gestured for them to sit.

Yhan Miyuan? The child star turned singer? The one who had entered the film industry within two years and swiftly became the hottest A-list star? The superstar in movies, television, and music? Luo Qianqian had been a big fan of his in her past life; he was handsome and had a nice voice.

”Um, may I ask what you want?” Zhou Yinyin asked. The name Yhan Miyuan would be household-known in another year; currently, very few knew of him. Zhou Yinyin, who mixed music and lyrics professionally, naturally knew of him, but she hadn’t heard any iconic songs from him.

”It’s like this,” Sun Zhichao handed them a business card and continued, ”This past year, Zhou Luo has written many songs that have become popular. As Yhan Miyuan’s agent, I hope you can become Miyuan’s personal exclusive songwriter, creating custom songs for him. What do you think?”

Zhou Yinyin looked directly at Luo Qianqian after hearing this. Previously, it had always been Luo Qianqian singing out the melodies, and her composing the music, with Luo Qianqian listening, giving feedback, and together they made the revisions to complete them.

Luo Qianqian gently shook her head, feigning a naive child-like voice, ”Then why did uncle have aunt bring me here?”

”Previously, a friend of mine recorded a segment from a cassette that a colleague had, and the voice on it was a child’s voice. However, neither the lyrics nor the composition were circulating on the market. Moreover, according to my friend, her colleague said it was a birthday gift written by the child himself. Do I need to say more?” Sun Zhichao slowly said, with a smile on his face, as if it was a matter of course.

How could such a coincidence happen? Luo’s Mom’s birthday had not been long past before they were approached about this?

”So, what then?” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes; even though he was her future idol’s agent, she didn’t want to listen to this invader of her privacy! A cassette tape could trace back to her? How did that work?

”So? We are prepared to purchase the rights to each song you create for three thousand yuan per song.” Sun Zhichao took out an envelope and slowly pushed it across the table toward Zhou Yinyin.

”We will think about it.” Zhou Yinyin said after a long silence, noticing the angry look on Luo Qianqian’s face.

”No rush,” Sun Zhichao said, his face full of calm smiles, seemingly approachable.

”Brother Sun, could you go ahead and order us some food? I’d like to talk with them alone, if that’s alright?” the silent young man finally spoke up.

Sun Zhichao looked at the young man and then at Zhou Yinyin and Luo Qianqian, nodded, and left.

The young man removed his sunglasses, revealing the youthful visage of a superstar, ”Allow me to introduce myself, my stage name is Yhan Miyuan.” He then turned to Luo Qianqian, gave a slight smile, and continued, ”I am Luo Yanran, Luo from Luo Xiying.”
