King of the Wilderness

Chapter 320: Chapter 209: Crimson Slaughter! (Part 3)

He knew that the prey had reached its limit, and now it was time to apply the final pressure and bring the end.

Finally, after crossing a ridge, he smelled the increasingly strong scent of blood in the air.

In the clearing not far ahead, a lone wolf lay weakly with its back to him, sprawled in the snow.

The injured hind leg was twisted at an unnatural angle, its surrounding fur matted with frozen blood and body fluids, looking miserable.

Its breathing was heavy and rapid, with each gasp revealing a puff of white mist; it seemed to have lost all vigilance.

He immediately slowed his steps, using a giant spruce Tree as cover, quietly approaching forward.

Lin Yu’an gripped the spear with both hands, lowered his center of gravity, and in an extremely slow and steady pace, silently approached from behind it.

Faced with a dying beast, you never know what kind of crazy retaliation it might mount, but now with the power enhanced by the Golden Finger, his full-force strike, able to kill a motorcycle man, was more than enough against an injured wolf. He disdained using an arrow to finish it off.

Ten meters, eight meters, five meters...

Just when he was less than two meters from the lone wolf, tapped with the spear, and prepared to launch a fatal strike from behind, the wolf suddenly sprang up from the snow, turning around!

In those golden eyes, there was no weakness, only cold, cunning killing intent!

”It’s pretending to be dead!” Lin Yu’an’s heart sank sharply!

Its previous weakness was all a disguise! It was intentionally revealing a flaw to lure him into a distance it considered most certain for a counterattack! However, Lin Yu’an was not in a panic at all; in fact, he was somewhat excited! Not every Hunter has the chance to achieve a spear hunting feat.

The lone wolf obviously did not expect this human to be so cautious, not immediately approaching, still keeping some distance. But its astonishment only lasted half a second before being replaced by a stronger ferocity.

It let out a low growl, lowered its body, exposing its sharp white fangs, despite the severe injury to its hind legs, its forelimb strength was still terrifying, like an arrow leaving the string, it lunged fiercely toward Lin Yu’an’s throat!

Lin Yu’an’s eyes were cold as iron, this was the most dangerous moment, the moment of deciding victory or defeat.

He did not retreat but instead stepped forward, lowering his body, steady as a rock.

His hands tightly gripped the Spear Shaft, but he didn’t foolishly try to take the wolf’s impact head-on. At the moment when the wolf lunged forward, he pivoted on his right foot, spinning his body half a step to the left!

This was an extremely exquisite, bullfighter-like evasive maneuver!

The wolf’s powerful lunge almost brushed past his body! He could even clearly smell the strong scent of blood and wildness from its body, feel the gust of wind created as its sharp claws sliced through the air!

And as he completed the dodge, the spear in his hand moved! Using the centrifugal force of his body rotation, the spear in his hand transformed into a black whip shadow, not stabbing forward, but lashing horizontally, hard, at the airborne body of the wolf!

”Bang!”

A dull sound like a baseball bat hitting a sandbag!

The hard birch wood Spear Shaft solidly struck the lone wolf’s slim waist and abdomen stretched out by the lunge!

”Awoo—!”

The lone wolf let out an extremely sharp wail in midair, the massive impact causing its internal organs to shake, its lunging posture completely distorted.

It crashed heavily onto the snow beside Lin Yu’an, rolling, biting frantically!

This strike, although not causing bone fracture, was enough to make its internal organs suffer and the abdominal muscles severely bruised, greatly affecting its balance and core power.

Despite landing a successful hit, Lin Yu’an felt no joy. For a wolf driven into a frenzy, such an injury would only make it more dangerous and unpredictable.

He immediately took two steps back, readjusted his spear-holding stance, and calmly observed his opponent.

After rolling a few times, the lone wolf finally stopped. It lifted its head, and for the first time, there was something in its gaze directed at Lin Yu’an other than ferocity.

A hint of confusion mixed with dread; evidently, it couldn’t comprehend how this two-legged creature in front of it possessed such terrifying combat skills and strength.

It tentatively tried to stand, but the searing pain in its waist and abdomen made its movements somewhat stiff and sluggish, and there was even a slight unsteadiness when its back leg landed.

The lone wolf emitted a low, threatening whine from its throat, engaged in a silent confrontation with Lin Yu’an.

It was evaluating, contemplating.

Lin Yu’an was also evaluating; he gripped the spear tightly, adjusting his breath, lowering his body’s center of gravity.

He knew that this wolf had not yet reached its desperate end, but its explosive power and agility had been reduced by at least thirty percent thanks to his previous strike.

Suddenly, the wolf moved!

But it did not make another reckless lunge, instead, it started circling around Lin Yu’an at a radius of about five meters, quickly prowling. Despite its injured hind leg and battered waist and abdomen, making its movements somewhat awkward and stiff, its speed was still astonishing.

Lin Yu’an instantly understood the lone wolf’s strategy; it was seeking flanks and back.

This is a classic hunting tactic of wolf packs, using continuous movement to confuse prey, seeking the weakest point in the defense. Even for a lone wolf, such tactics are ingrained in its genes.
