King of the Wilderness

Chapter 319: Chapter 209: Bloody Struggle! (Part 2)

Lin Yu’an didn’t hesitate at all. As he released the first practice arrow, his left hand immediately drew out a second trump card from the quiver—a Wide-Headed Hunting Arrow.

Nocking the arrow, pulling back the bow, aiming! The entire movement was as fluid as flowing water, completed in one seamless motion!

The lone wolf, its judgment clouded by rage, was forced to halt, with no option to retreat. The anger of having its territory invaded and the prey being so close made it lose part of its reason, and it launched a second, even more frenzied attack!

But as the wolf came to an abrupt stop, losing balance and catching itself in a vulnerable moment of weakness, Lin Yu’an released his fingers!

”Buzz—”

The Wide-Headed Arrow, with a dense and deadly sound distinct from the practice arrow, whistled towards its target from less than thirty meters away with the force of a thunderbolt!

”Thud!”

With a dull sound, the Wide-Headed Arrow failed to penetrate the wolf’s chest as he had anticipated. In that instant of being targeted, the wolf’s incredible reflexes kicked in; it twisted its body forcefully using its abdominal muscles!

The arrow skimmed the edge of its ribs and, carrying huge rotational force, viciously struck into the scapular joint of one of its front legs!

Three sharp blades whirled through the air like a cyclone, shredding its muscles and tendons!

”Howl—!”

A short, piercing shriek of anguish!

Agonizing pain made it impossible for the lone wolf to continue his charge. After rolling on the snow, the wolf struggled to stand up again. One front leg was temporarily powerless, dragging limply at a strange angle across the ground.

Blood was gushing from its scapula, quickly dyeing the fur on its chest into a warm, dark, and wet patch.

It realized it was no match for this two-legged creature now, who possessed the power to wound it from afar! After locking eyes with Lin Yu’an’s icy gaze for a few seconds, the cunning predator made the wisest choice.

No longer hesitating or testing, it tucked its tail between its legs and, limping but at a remarkable speed, turned to flee frantically towards the forest from which it came!

”Trying to run?” Lin Yu’an’s voice was full of disdain, ”You destroyed my trap, stole my prey, and now you want to leave? Too late!”

He didn’t immediately chase after it. Instead, he calmly put away his bow and turned around, choosing not to descend directly from this three-meter-high platform.

But instead, he quickly and steadily circled down along a gentler slope at the back of the rocky platform, which he had already scouted during his stealthy approach.

For a professional hunter, conserving energy and avoiding unnecessary risks is far more important than saving a few tens of seconds.

After finishing all this, he turned his gaze back to the ”blood trail” extending into the distance—a path of staggering footprints and dripping blood in the snow.

Approaching the bloodstain, he crouched down, dipping a finger in the already frozen blood, facing the lens, with the confidence of a hunter who has everything under control, ”Round one is over. It’s seriously wounded, bleeding; it can’t run far.”

”Now, it’s time for it to experience what it means to have the Sword of Damocles hanging overhead.”

Lin Yu’an, gripping that lethal Flint Spear, set off on his final hunt, stepping on snowshoes.

Following the path of falling Blood Pearls and staggering footprints, this time, his steps were no longer unhurried but maintained a steady pace to conserve energy.

”Now I have the advantage!” he explained while advancing quickly. ”The prey is severely wounded and knows I’m tracking it. Patience is no longer the priority; what’s needed now is constant pressure.”

”I must remain constantly within its perception range, giving it no time to stop to rest or devise a plan, crushing its will entirely this way.”

After tracking for about half a kilometer, he noticed a change in the pattern of the bloodstains, his sight constantly shifting back and forth between the bloodstains, the surrounding terrain, and the wind direction.

”Look here,” he said, crouching down, pointing at a spot where the snow showed not droplets but splattering bloodstains.

”At first, the blood dripped, meaning the wound was still wrapped in muscle. But now, the blood is splattered, and the color is fresher red.”

”This indicates that the Wide-Headed Arrow during its run caused secondary cutting inside its body due to muscle movement, likely cutting through a main artery.”

”This is decisively good news: arterial bleeding means it’s losing life and energy rapidly; it won’t hold up much longer.” ℴ

He continued forward and quickly reached the front of a steep slope.

In the snow, the wolf tracks grew more disordered, and the drag marks heavier; blood stains could even be seen smeared on nearby tree trunks.

”It can no longer properly control its body balance, surely feeling dizzy and weak from lack of blood.”

After tracking for another ten minutes, he stopped again.

On the snow ahead, there was a large area of flattened marks, with blood stains becoming more abundant around it.

”It lay down here to rest for a long time,” he said, pointing the spear tip at that area,

”But there’s no body, meaning it rested for a while and then forced itself to stand up again, continuing to flee. The survival will of this guy is frighteningly strong.”

A glint of respect flashed in Lin Yu’an’s eyes for this opponent.

He continued to follow those increasingly dense and staggering tracks, this time accelerating to his maximum speed.
