Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2179: Chapter 1662: Should I Trust You?

To be honest, when Taylor heard Bai Xiaosheng asking him to step down, he was truly a bit shocked. Although he had told Bai Xiaosheng that to ensure Bai’s profits, he could use his position as Clan Leader to silence the clan members, it didn’t really go to that extent.

He has his own means to calm the clan’s emotions.

Yet Bai Xiaosheng outright stated that the primary condition for helping them is that upon success, he should step down from the position of Clan Leader!

Taylor looked surprised.

He couldn’t figure out whether Bai Xiaosheng was saying this to test his sincerity, or if he actually meant it.

If it’s the former, it’s understandable. If it’s the latter, then why is Bai Xiaosheng insisting on him stepping aside?

Taylor, the Clan Leader, narrowed his eyes slightly and remained silent.

”I believe Taylor Clan Leader is not someone who doesn’t keep his word or is indecisive. You must be wondering why I’m proposing this condition now, right?”

Bai Xiaosheng sipped his tea, nodded slightly, and smiled, ”At the same time, you should be questioning my true motive.”

”Am I truly trying to help Xiya and your family as a friend...?”

”Or is my appearance a part of a conspiracy!” Bai Xiaosheng emphasized, his words growing colder.

”If this family is in Mr. Taylor’s hands, even if surrounded by enemies, you could still support it to not collapse. But if you relinquish your position, then the people in your family will no longer adhere to your principles. Therefore, while temporarily avoiding a crisis, your family may face the possibility of true demise!”

Bai Xiaosheng’s words made Taylor’s eyes contract sharply, watching Bai Xiaosheng cautiously.

These worries were indeed the ones he feared the most!

Taylor stared at Bai Xiaosheng, scrutinizing him.

Bai Xiaosheng bowed his head to drink tea, silently awaiting Taylor’s decision.

Taylor’s expression shifted complexly, and after several seconds, he slowly said, ”I just don’t understand why the condition for helping us is my stepping down from the Clan Leader position! If I’m not the Clan Leader, Mr. Bai, who do you think is more suitable?”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled at him, ”Why? Naturally, it’s the payment for my help this time.”

Bai Xiaosheng spoke very straightforwardly and directly.

Taylor was increasingly bewildered, completely puzzled.

”Is there someone in our family who has offered you a price to want me out of this Clan Leader position?” Taylor asked tentatively.

He couldn’t think of any other possibility.

Bai Xiaosheng didn’t answer this question but looked into Taylor’s eyes, seriously asking, ”Mr. Taylor, how much are you willing to sacrifice for your family?”

Confronted with this question, Taylor’s expression turned somewhat solemn, staring at Bai Xiaosheng, and said deeply, ”For my family, I am willing to sacrifice everything—including myself!”

”Well said.” Bai Xiaosheng applauded with laughter, ”Then, I just want you!”

Want me? Taylor paused.

Bai Xiaosheng continued, ”I will help your family through this crisis, and ask the Clan Leader Taylor to step down and work for me for ten years! That’s what you have to pay, that’s the reward I want!”

This sentence completely stunned Taylor.

What kind of reward is this?

Having him, a Clan Leader, go work for someone?

Bai Xiaosheng continued, ”I want Clan Leader Taylor to manage an enterprise for me for ten years. I will offer you the highest salary and annually increasing shares.”

Taylor’s expression turned peculiar as he looked at Bai Xiaosheng, ”This is what you save our family for, and you need me to pay? Really... this simple?”

Even the shares he just promised weren’t worth his attention, he simply wanted him to work for him?

Taylor thought that despite his managerial talents and experience, his value is limited, especially compared to the entire family business.

This young man, pursuing this kind of compensation?

Taylor found it hard to believe.

”Are you asking me to join Zhenbei Group?” Taylor suddenly thought of this and asked.

Bai Xiaosheng has yet to reveal which company he wants to put him in charge of.

Bai Xiaosheng simply shook his head and smiled, ”No, where I want you to go is to my private enterprise.”

Bai Xiaosheng added, ”Even in Zhenbei Group, high-level personnel are allowed to hold external positions. Inclusion and acceptance may be one of the reasons the group has become a world-class consortium.”

Taylor agreed and nodded.

”Also, I’ve saved you this time, but what about next time, or the time after that, will you truly remain safe from further attacks? If my help only works this time, what if I return home and they come again?” Bai Xiaosheng asked with a smile, ”Mr. Taylor, wouldn’t you consider long-term protection for your family, or perhaps give your family a chance to climb higher?”

”As long as you accept my partnership invitation!”

Taylor’s eyes flickered, indicating he had been deeply moved.

Bai Xiaosheng smiled, ”Concerning me, Mr. Taylor, I guess you’ve heard that I am currently forming a business alliance, worldwide, globally scoped. Wouldn’t you consider taking advantage of this proximity for your family’s long-term plans?”

Bai Xiaosheng spoke in a most enticing manner.

Taylor pondered for a moment before lifting his head to look at Bai Xiaosheng, ”What you’re saying, is it true! You don’t want our family’s business shares, just me to work for you?”

That would be the best.

”I never deceive in partnerships.” Bai Xiaosheng’s eyes carried an aura of his own pride.

Suddenly, Taylor felt a strange emotion towards this young man—admiration!

”Should I trust you?” Taylor asked.

Bai Xiaosheng nodded.

”If you indeed can save us from this crisis and provide further protection, I am willing to work for you!” Taylor sincerely said, ”I, too, am someone who keeps promises. If you don’t believe me...”

Bai Xiaosheng raised a hand to stop Taylor from saying more, smiled, and said, ”Mr. Taylor’s family is known for its integrity, so you don’t need to promise anything further. If one day Mr. Taylor were to forsake us, then we can terminate our partnership; I wouldn’t retaliate against you.”

Actually, Bai Xiaosheng wouldn’t need to retaliate, losing Bai Xiaosheng’s connection would mean the enterprise wouldn’t let go of this ripe opportunity.

There’s only a thousand days to act as a thief, not to guard against one for a thousand days. By then, their family would be completely finished!

Moreover, Bai Xiaosheng promised to grant their family great opportunities, which was truly enticing!

”Where did you intend for me to work?” Taylor’s words implicitly acknowledged Bai Xiaosheng’s request.

”No need to rush.” Bai Xiaosheng said, ”The company hasn’t been established yet.”

Taylor was suddenly surprised, looking at Bai Xiaosheng peculiarly.

What, the company hasn’t been established yet, and he’s already booking him?

This indeed is too...

Should I trust you...Taylor thought again, but this time purely as a joke.

Seeing Taylor had agreed, Bai Xiaosheng immediately smiled, raised his teacup, ”Come, let’s celebrate me hiring a Clan Leader to work for me.”

Taylor smiled wryly and clinked cups with this young man to drink tea.

”I don’t know how you’re going to help my family, are you going to communicate with Miss Caroline?” Taylor couldn’t help but ask.

Bai Xiaosheng chuckled and shook his head, ”My relationship with Miss Caroline isn’t great, there are many misunderstandings. You know, her promotional event accident is related to me. Her brother also suffered a fracture because of me...”

Bai Xiaosheng’s words completely stunned Taylor.

From the sound of it, Bai Xiaosheng doesn’t just not have a good relationship with Caroline, he has a deep enmity!

Even Taylor was really doubting, ”Should I be partnering with you...”
