Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2167: Chapter 1652: This Is a Trap

Bai Xiaosheng told Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying about the advice he received from Wen Yan, which left them momentarily stunned.

Wen Yan suggested that since Bai Xiaosheng was already here, he might as well fulfill his new duties in North America.

Wouldn’t that mean causing trouble for Caroline?

After all, Caroline was the President of the North American Region and the overall head of all the local enterprises.

Investigating her enterprises would only escalate the conflict between both parties.

”Since Mr. Wen Yan knows about your potential cooperation with Caroline, is this... his way of preventing us from collaborating with her?” Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but ask.

”Given Caroline’s character and our previous conflicts, if we move against her enterprises, it might elevate to the level of rivalry,” Lei Ying reminded.

If Bai Xiaosheng weren’t planning to discuss cooperation with Caroline, and hadn’t had previous interactions, it wouldn’t matter.

But now, cooperation with the North American Region is one of Bai Xiaosheng’s key objectives. It’s best to avoid conflict.

Bai Xiaosheng sighed lightly.

”Wen Yan knows I plan to cooperate with Caroline, but told me that once a partnership is established, it might displease Vice Chairman Morgan. After all, Caroline aligns herself with Vice Chairman Morgan, and cooperating with me might appear as undermining him. Wen Yan said I shouldn’t consider his words as orders or directives and should make my own decision. I’m only starting out, and it’s not necessary to be so aggressive right away. He also mentioned, Caroline, being in allegiance with Vice Chairman Morgan, cannot disregard his feelings. Even in cooperation, she might present unreasonable demands.”

Bai Xiaosheng continued, ”Wen Yan’s suggestion was that I could turn the investigation of these enterprises into leverage, making my role in the Group’s Surveillance Department a more advantageous bargaining chip!”

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying exchanged a glance and exhaled in relief.

So that’s it, Mr. Wen Yan is quite considerate!

This matter actually allows Bai Xiaosheng to decide whether to act or not.

In fact, from Wen Yan’s admonitions and warnings, it appears that within the corporate factions, Wen Yan and Vice Chairman Morgan are not united, and may even have conflicts or opposing stances, though not yet intensified. Currently, it’s unclear.

If Wen Yan and Vice Chairman Morgan were indeed adversaries, Bai Xiaosheng would be someone Wen Yan values, positioned as his second-in-command, so it wouldn’t be surprising for Wen Yan to ask Bai Xiaosheng for allegiance. Yet, he still grants Bai Xiaosheng the freedom to choose.

One can only say that Wen Yan treats Bai Xiaosheng with real generosity!

”So, Sheng, what do you think?” Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but ask.

Honestly, from their beneficial standpoint, it’s currently best not to disturb the enterprises under Caroline’s jurisdiction.

Wait until Bai Xiaosheng secures his position and the cooperation progresses, then consider it—it best aligns with interests.

Lei Ying also looked at Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng stretched lazily and smiled at them, ”Is it your first day knowing me? Don’t you really know what I’ll choose?”

When has Bai Xiaosheng ever feared anyone!

If there really is a problem, he won’t tolerate it!

He’s equally fearless towards Vice Chairman Morgan.

And to Caroline, he owes nothing; negotiating cooperation isn’t genuinely to remedy anything.

If Caroline suggests any unreasonable cooperation terms, he won’t agree. Moreover, if there’s a problem with the enterprises under Caroline, he’s determined to conduct a thorough investigation and will not condone it!

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, upon this reflection, relaxed.

Actually, once you are open-minded about these troubles, none of them pose a problem!

By sticking to principles and staying true to oneself, everything ceases to be an issue.

If worse comes to worst, come what may, they will tackle it head-on!

”Let’s go; we’ve finished our coffee. It’s time to take another tour around the headquarters.” Bai Xiaosheng pushed his coffee cup away.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying nodded in agreement.

The three stood up in succession, ready to leave.

At that moment, a shadow swiftly passed by outside the café’s large floor-to-ceiling windows.

Bai Xiaosheng and his companions instinctively looked up.

Seated in the best spot by the window, a person moving outside naturally caught their attention.

Nevertheless, the three only paused rather than grasping the situation; they weren’t overly concerned.

Then, another shadow rushed by, accompanied by the clear, crisp shout of a woman, ”Stop, don’t run!”

This time, the trio not only saw the pursuer clearly but also heard her voice.

Suddenly, they all froze.

Lin Weiwei looked at Bai Xiaosheng in surprise, naming the pursuer, ”Is that Xiya?”

She was the top student and crisis response specialist, saved by Bai Xiaosheng, a girl from the Twelve Nations Police Union Academy’s elite class—Horn Class.

Why was she here?

”When we left, the academy announced a break for students. Xiya’s family resides in North America.” Lei Ying rationalized.

By this reasoning, it indeed seemed to be Xiya.

However, who is Xiya chasing?

”Let’s go and have a look!” Bai Xiaosheng decisively said, ”Lei Ying, you go first!”

Lei Ying immediately nodded and swiftly departed.

Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Weiwei also got moving, following closely.

Ten minutes later.

In a secluded alley, several burly men lay on the ground, groaning in pain, some unconscious.

A graceful figure stood amongst the fallen, her expression cold—it was Xiya.

At that moment, Xiya approached one of the kneeling men with a stern expression, snorted coldly, kicked him over, and picked up a lady’s handbag from the ground.

”You must be blind to wreck my Harley bike and snatch my bag. You are nothing but waste, making a scene in Ganande! You truly lack self-awareness!” Xiya berated.

As she spoke, Xiya opened her bag to check its contents, exhaling deeply in relief.

Her handbag contained important documents and several checks, all critical items.

In her haste to get these items home, she decided against driving and instead rode a Harley motorcycle.

Everything went smoothly until she encountered a group of young skateboarders blocking her path.

While trying to avoid one of the young girls, Xiya crashed into a nearby pole, tumbling and scattering her belongings.

The leader of the group took her things and fled, while others surrounded her.

But Xiya was an elite student from the Twelve Nations Police Union Academy’s top class and managed to break free from the crowd and pursued them here, catching the one who took her bag.

Then, these brutish thugs appeared.

Yet it was evident that they had underestimated Xiya’s abilities.

She turned the tables in just three to five minutes.

”This was a premeditated plan; there were accomplices on standby. It’s as if they anticipated my pursuit and knew my skills well. Moreover, the affair itself is laden with suspicion! I need to leave quickly!”

After checking her belongings, Xiya sensed the complexity of the situation, clinched her handbag, intending to depart immediately.

But as she turned around, her expression changed.

Nearby, from a side path, two figures silently emerged, both wearing hoodies with hats pulled down low. They appeared simultaneously, facing her and brandishing weapons, dark muzzles aimed directly at her.

Seeing this, Xiya’s heart sank.

She had been careless! In the end, she underestimated them!

This group was not some rabble; it was an orchestrated trap aimed at her!
