Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2171: Chapter 1655: Xiya Family Crisis_2

Xiya continued, ”One day, my father was far away in Europe, yet received a notification from that company. Their representative would return for one day and leave the next, so they could sign the contract with us. My father, being across the ocean, naturally couldn’t make it in time. So, he asked my uncle White to sign on his behalf.”

Bai Xiaosheng nodded slightly, indicating for her to continue.

”The intention to cooperate had already been reached beforehand, and it was simply a matter of signing, which shouldn’t have gone terribly wrong,” Xiya said in a deep voice. ”Speaking of my uncle White, he is indeed capable and holds a significant position in the family business, but he has many flaws, some even considered as vices. He’s addicted to alcohol and had delayed important matters before.”

”My father repeatedly told him over the phone to ensure there would be no complications and not to get drunk during social gatherings when he went to sign the contract,” Xiya said and sighed heavily.

Bai Xiaosheng, Lin Weiwei, and Lei Ying exchanged glances. From her sigh and the current crisis facing the Xiya family, it seemed likely that Uncle White had disregarded the warning.

”That day, my Uncle White didn’t return, and we couldn’t contact him,” Xiya said, her eyes carrying both anger and embarrassment. ”The next day, we saw him in the newspaper!”

”He was caught by reporters in a hotel, lying in bed with a... a woman of that kind, and they took pictures. He brought shame to our family, and this incident, later fueled by certain individuals, caused our family’s stock price to plummet!” Xiya said gloomily. ”And that wasn’t even the worst part!”

Bai Xiaosheng raised his eyebrows.

The Xiya family was already in trouble, and the stock price plummeting wasn’t the worst of it, so there must be a bigger crisis.

Bai Xiaosheng had Red Lotus search for information about the decline in stock prices and was aware of White’s scandal; he also knew the connection between the two but didn’t expect such deep waters behind it.

”What could be worse than this?” Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but ask.

Xiya sighed, gritting her teeth, and said, ”My Uncle White, while drunk, signed a full six unfair contracts with that big company! As a result, we’ve fallen into a deadly trap! Afterward, my father questioned Uncle White sternly, but he said he couldn’t remember anything! He claimed he was tricked into signing while drunk!”

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying gasped in shock.

This was adding fuel to the fire, a double whammy, facing a dead end!

”That company had multiple exchanges with your father, Mr. Taylor, and reached an agreement. Since Mr. Taylor saw it as an opportunity, it must have seemed genuinely promising. But in the end, they signed multiple unfair contracts. The other party must have had this planned all along, even timing the signing for when Mr. Taylor was in Europe, which was all part of their scheme,” Bai Xiaosheng said in a deep voice. ”It seems they thoroughly investigated Uncle White, even knowing his vices inside out.”

Bai Xiaosheng paused briefly and continued, ”There’s even reason to believe that the calculations your family suffered before could also be partly attributed to that company!”

The company did everything possible, setting traps step by step, to take over the Xiya family’s business.

Bai Xiaosheng truly wanted to meet that company’s representative; calling them a cunning wolf wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

No matter what, the other side succeeded in obtaining what they wanted, forcing the Xiya family into a corner.

Even if Xiya’s father was extraordinarily capable, he couldn’t escape the grasp of the other party.

”Such a scheme in business could definitely be described as ruthless!” Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but say, ”I almost thought it was an act of revenge.”

”What kind of grudge could there be!” Xiya declared with absolute certainty, ”Otherwise, why would my father have no sense of caution?”

Bai Xiaosheng nodded.

It was purely to swallow up the Xiya family’s business for the sake of profit.

The Xiya family business indeed had a strong position in several fields.

If the other party could absorb them, it would mean gaining the Xiya family’s market share and channels, undoubtedly leading to rampant growth.

However, such a ”devouring” usually occurs in a big fish eating a small fish scenario.

If the Xiya family could be considered a ”small fish,” then what kind of entity was the opponent to have such an appetite!

Bai Xiaosheng suddenly grew intensely curious about the other party’s identity.

It occurred to Bai Xiaosheng that Xiya, throughout her narrative, never mentioned the name of that company, deliberately or unintentionally avoiding it.

Why was that?

Beside him, Lin Weiwei couldn’t resist asking, ”Since it was Mr. White who was tricked into signing the contract while intoxicated and extremely unfair, why didn’t you file a complaint?”

A family like Xiya’s could afford renowned lawyers to file lawsuits and complaints; it’s not something they must accept.

Lin Weiwei couldn’t understand.

Xiya smiled bitterly, ”Of course, we did that, but for every lawyer team we hired, they brought in even more. Moreover, such lawsuits often drag on for years without resolution, and until a formal judgment declares the contracts void, we still have to fulfill them. Considering the current circumstances, it’s uncertain if our business can hold out until we succeed in appealing...”

Even Xiya felt deeply despondent when she mentioned it.

Lin Weiwei suddenly had nothing more to say.

”Media,” Bai Xiaosheng suddenly said.

Everyone instinctively turned to look at him.

Bai Xiaosheng continued, ”In this age of information explosion, why not leverage the media and fight a public opinion battle! If used properly, even if it can’t turn the tide, it would cause significant trouble for the other party.”
