Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

”No. I can’t have my own children, and I won’t adopt someone else’s either.”

”Rose Shaw, is our relationship really this fragile? I can accept everything about you. Can’t you make this one small concession for my parents?”

”Accepting everything about me was your choice. I didn’t force you. If you’re using that as a bargaining chip, then I’m sorry, but I don’t accept. Please get out. I need to change.”

”Rose Shaw!”

Suddenly, the door swung open. Melody Monroe stood in the doorway, with Winter Kane and Talia Mercer behind her.

”Director Hughes, are you two finished talking?” Melody Monroe asked directly.

”Yes, we’re done. We’ll leave as soon as I get changed.”

”Alright.” Melody Monroe looked at Felix Hughes. ”Director Hughes, could you please step outside?”

Felix Hughes glanced at Rose Shaw, then walked out.

Melody Monroe walked in and stayed by Rose Shaw’s side. Talia Mercer and Winter Kane stood guard at the door.

”Rose...”

”You don’t have to comfort me. I’m fine.”

”Get changed. We’re leaving now.”

Felix Hughes walked out of the room, and Mrs. Hughes immediately ran over to him.

”What’s going on? How did your talk go?”

Felix Hughes said nothing.

”She’s calling it off? She’s calling off the marriage just like that? How could she do this? What did I do wrong? What did I say wrong?” Mrs. Hughes demanded loudly.

”This is humiliating for you! Don’t you care about your reputation?”

Suddenly, Mrs. Hughes charged towards the room.

Talia Mercer and Winter Kane immediately blocked her at the door.

”Rose Shaw! How could you do this? Do you have any idea how much our Felix loves you? You call it off just like that? Do you think this engagement party is some kind of child’s play? Give me a reason! If you don’t give me a reason today, I’ll... I’ll drop dead right here for you to see! I can’t bear this humiliation.”

Hearing the shouting outside, Melody Monroe grew worried.

Rose Shaw finished changing and came out. She picked up her bag and said to Melody Monroe, ”Let’s go.”

As soon as the two of them walked out of the room, Mrs. Hughes rushed over, wrapped her arms around Rose Shaw’s legs, and collapsed onto the floor, causing a scene.

”Rose Shaw, how can you be so heartless! Do you know how much money my son spent on this engagement party? He even bought you a house in Jansburg! He’s given you so much, and you just call it off like that? Have you no conscience? You have to give me an explanation today! Why are you calling it off!”

”I asked you to give me a grandson. Is there anything wrong with that? You’re marrying my son, isn’t it your duty to carry on the Hughes Family line? Is that asking too much?”

”No, it’s not unreasonable. However, we agreed beforehand not to have children. As for the money Felix Hughes spent, I will pay him back every single cent. I won’t let him suffer any financial loss.”

”You...” Mrs. Hughes stared at Rose Shaw, so furious she was speechless.

Suddenly, she shot up from the floor, grabbed Rose Shaw’s clothes, and started tearing at them and hitting her.

”Rose!” Melody Monroe immediately tried to pull Rose Shaw away, but Mrs. Hughes was surprisingly strong. ”Talia! Winter!”

Talia Mercer and Winter Kane rushed forward, and Winter Kane wrapped their arms around Mrs. Hughes to restrain her.

Mrs. Hughes was still throwing a fit.

”They’re hitting me! I’m an old woman, and three of you are ganging up on me! I have a heart condition! If I die here today, you’ll be responsible for my death! Don’t you go anywhere! You’re not leaving until you give me an explanation! Rose Shaw, you dare take one step, and I’ll die right here for you to see! Just you try it!”

”Mom, stop it!”
