This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Disputes at a BBQ stand are nothing unusual.

It’s not surprising that the argument started because someone was sitting too far back, blocking the person behind him at the other table.

What was unusual, however, were the words exchanged between the two grown men.

”What do you want?”

”What do you want?”

These two sentences, repeated over and over again, didn’t create a sense of tension but rather added a hint of humor to the situation.

However, anyone with discerning eyes could see that there was no real issue at hand.

Du Heng and his friends exchanged glances, not bothering to intervene, and walked to the bar area to pay their bill.

Especially when Wu Shengnan, dressed in a police uniform, walked by and gave them a casual glance. The two men, who had been bickering like parrots, immediately quieted down, each stepping back and resuming their seats.

But the man whose space had originally been encroached upon was probably still feeling aggrieved. When he pulled his stool, he swung it forcefully backward, hitting the man behind him.

This upset the companion of the man who was hit, who got up and wanted to argue some more. However, the man whose stool had caused the issue didn’t want to escalate the situation and instead tried to calm his friend down, ”Don’t be impulsive. Just sit down and eat your skewers.”

Although the friend was held back, he was still visibly angry. He didn’t stand up again, but just as he was about to sit down, he spat at the man who had swung the stool. ”What a piece of shit.”

There’s a type of friend called a bad-influence friend.

There are two kinds of these friends. One type will make mischief with you and lead you down a clownish path.

The other type will straight-up lead you to a dead end.

When you encounter such friends, it’s best to stay as far away as possible. If you can’t avoid them, give them a couple of kicks and then run for it. You need to keep your distance from people like this, because you never know what kind of ”surprises” and ”despair” they’ll bring in the next second.

The spitting companion perfectly embodied this type of bad-influence friend.

What could have been a settled matter was reignited by his spit, enraging the man on the other side who already felt wronged.

Within seconds, the two sides were at each other’s throats again, though the two people brawling were now different.

But could the man whose stool had initially caused the problem really stay out of it?

How could he? His companion was sticking up for him, after all.

The commotion outside had nothing to do with Du Heng; he just wanted to pay the bill and hurry back to the mountain.

But when he turned around after paying, he noticed Wu Shengnan was no longer by his side.

His heart skipped a beat. He looked up to see Wu Shengnan yelling as she charged into the fighting crowd, ”I’m a police officer! Everyone, stop it right now!”

Despite Wu Shengnan’s powerful voice and heroic stance, she overlooked one crucial fact: the fighters were all burly Real Men.

Moreover, men in such situations are very concerned about face; they were unlikely to listen to a woman they didn’t know. They might not have even heard her.

Seeing that her shouting had no effect, Wu Shengnan boldly strode toward the brawling group.

Those on the periphery of the fight were mostly just putting on a show and were sensible enough to back off when they saw Wu Shengnan in her police uniform. They even began to restrain their own friends.

However, at the very center, the one who had been the most aggressive—the one sticking up for his friend—and the one who felt the most aggrieved were truly enraged.

Especially the aggressive one. In a fit of rage, he snatched a dozen or so iron skewers, just used for grilling, from a table and thrust them at the man he was grappling with.

This action terrified the man being attacked; his heart pounded in his chest.

Watching those gleaming iron skewers come at him, he silently cursed this friend of his. If those skewers hit, he definitely wouldn’t get out of this unscathed tonight. A thousand thoughts raced through his mind, flashing like lightning in that instant. He thought of so much. But his body clearly couldn’t keep up with his brain; his move to reach out was a beat too slow.

It’s over! It’s over!

Du Heng saw Wu Shengnan advancing, and he also saw the iron skewers already mid-thrust.

And Wu Shengnan, as ill luck would have it, had stepped right into the path of those skewers!

Blood rushed to Du Heng’s head. All other thoughts vanished as he sprinted towards Wu Shengnan with the speed of Bolt.

At the same time, for only the second time in his life, he uttered the words, ”Buddha, please protect us.”

However, Wu Shengnan, as if she hadn’t seen them—or perhaps because skill breeds courage—took just a few quick steps to position herself between the two men.

At that moment, the black iron skewers were inches from her face.

Everyone watching squeezed their eyes shut in fear, unable to bear the thought of a beauty’s face being marred. Du Heng couldn’t help but cry out. Just then, Wu Shengnan tilted her head, her hands instantly shot out to grab the man’s wrist, and with a standard police takedown, she flipped the roaring man to the ground.

As the man fell, he crashed into a nearby table, sending chairs, stools, and stacked beer bottles flying. For a moment, there was a chaotic mess of spilled food and drinks, with glass bottles clattering loudly.

”Stop! I’m a police officer!” Pinning the man down with one knee, Wu Shengnan shouted again, her voice full of authority, as her sharp gaze swept over the others who had been fighting.

”Yeah!”

”So cool!”

Instantly, cheers and applause filled the air.

Du Heng, his heart still pounding furiously, finally reached Wu Shengnan’s side. He didn’t speak, just looked at her, his eyes red.

Beside Du Heng, Wei Kaida stood with a tray of meat in his hands, looking menacing. It was clear that if Du Heng made a move, Wei Kaida wouldn’t hesitate for a single second.
