This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Thankfully, it’s summer, and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic is situated high up where the wind blows, so the windows are already open, and there’s no need to deliberately open them.

The man with a limp sitting by the door also struggled to get up, hurriedly hopping out, no longer caring about the frown he wore.

Then, Du Heng and a group of doctors in white gowns stood in the corridor, looking at each other in dismay.

Meanwhile, from inside the room, came continuous sounds: PFFT... PFFT...

”Hey, guys, what are you up to?”

Why had the doctors in white gowns and the limping patient, instead of staying in the consultation room for treatment, all run out into the corridor?

Those waiting for their appointments in the nearby departments watched as the doctors and the patient rushed out, their attention completely captured.

They were all itching to know what had happened in the consultation room to make even the doctors flee.

The young man who was asked smiled mysteriously and slowly backed up a couple of steps. ”Go have a look for yourself. It’s incredible.”

”What’s going on? Is it an infectious disease?” asked the curious man.

”Nonsense! Didn’t you see everyone is at the door? What infectious disease? Go and see for yourself. It’s totally explosive, I’m not kidding you.”

His curiosity thoroughly piqued, the questioning man pushed through the crowd and stuck his head into the consultation room.

PFFFFFFFFFFF!

The sound was prolonged and loud.

”****.”

The questioning man was dumbfounded.

Was I this curious just to see someone farting?

He quickly retreated a few steps. ”Buddy, if this were outside, I’d definitely pick a fight with you.”

The questioned young man chuckled. ”See? What did I tell you? Wasn’t it explosive? Isn’t it amazing?”

The questioning man fanned the air with his hand. ”Tell me what actually happened.”

”Haha, the guy inside jumped the queue. He said he had been suffering from stomach distension for three or four months, and no one could treat him.” The young man gestured with his chin. ”See that doctor over there? He said it wasn’t a big problem. Then he inserted four needles, and this happened.”

”Just a few needles?” The questioning man looked incredulous. ”An illness that troubled him for months, and he got better after just a few needles?”

”Yes, just those few. But we don’t know if his condition has actually improved yet.”

”Given how much he’s farting, how could he not be better?” The questioning man glanced inside the room while talking. Despite his words, he was also curious if the patient was really cured.

Similar conversations could be heard throughout the corridor as everyone was eager to know the outcome.

After a couple of minutes, the farting sounds from the consultation room finally ceased. Once the smell had mostly dispersed, Du Heng led Gu Ping and a few others back into the room.

Seeing the patient, who still maintained his initial position despite his embarrassed expression, Du Heng walked over to him and removed the needles from his abdomen. ”Gu Ping, quickly disinfect these and put them away.”

”Understood, Mr. Du.”

Gu Ping’s response made the crowd lingering by the door exclaim in surprise, ”So he’s a teacher!”

”Right! I thought he was a recent graduate.”

”Tch, you all are just inexperienced. This doctor is young, but can a recent graduate possess such a dignified bearing and composure?”

”True.”

”Now that you mention it, that makes sense.”

”But I wonder if the patient was really cured.”

Despite the buzz at the doorway, Du Heng remained unfazed. Turning to the patient on the bed, he said, ”Straighten your clothes and get up.”

He then washed his hands and returned to his seat.

By now, the patient was visibly relaxed. Du Heng smiled and asked, ”How do you feel?”

”Great! I feel so much lighter!”

”That’s good to hear.”

”Thank you, Doctor. What medication should I take when I go home?”

”You don’t need medication; just be a bit careful with your diet. Also, since you’re less active in the evening, try to eat less noodles and hard-to-digest foods. Avoid cold drinks. When you get home, buy a warmer pad. Apply it to your navel in the afternoon. Do this for two weeks, and you’ll recover on your own.”

The patient was taken aback. That his ailment could be treated by only paying the registration fee at the hospital was a first for him.

Extremely grateful, he stood up and bowed slightly to Du Heng. ”Thank you, Doctor.”

Du Heng smiled, then turned to his computer and typed quickly for a moment. ”Don’t thank me yet. Take your card to the payment window downstairs. It’s fifty yuan for the acupuncture treatment.”

”Alright, I’ll go right now.”

After seeing off this patient and noticing the count of effective treatments increase by one, Du Heng didn’t bother checking if he had actually gone to pay. He just called out, ”Next.”

Just then, the man on crutches was helped to a seat by Gu Ping. Having witnessed Du Heng’s skills, he wasn’t making a fuss this time.

Du Heng asked, ”What seems to be the problem?”

The man stretched out his curled-up leg. ”Doctor, please take a look. This leg started hurting badly last week. Now I can barely put any weight on it.”

”What’s the pain like?”

”At first, it was a throbbing pain. After a couple of days, whenever I walked, the pain shot from my heel all the way to my buttock. My whole leg ached. By yesterday, I couldn’t put my foot on the ground at all. If I placed it on the floor and applied even the slightest pressure, the pain was unbearable.”

”Didn’t you get any X-rays or anything?”

”Yes, I did. Quite a few, actually. Yesterday morning, I also had an NMR. The doctor said it was nothing serious and told me to go home and recuperate, suggesting it might heal naturally over time.”

Du Heng glanced at the bag in the man’s hand. ”Let me see those films.”

The man then took out the films, and Du Heng began examining them one by one. ”Have you had surgery on your lower back before?”

”Four years ago. It was for lumbar slipping. Is this related to my lower back?”
