This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

After the medicine was prepared, Zhao Bin brought in two filled disposable paper cups. Du Heng took them and said, ”You stay here. Prepare another batch just in case.” With that, she carried the two paper cups back to the Woman in childbirth’s side.

Wang Lili had hung the IV bottle on a nail on the window frame, freeing her hands. Seeing Du Heng approach with the two paper cups, she quickly reached out for them. Du Heng handed the medicine to Wang Lili, who had reached out, instructing, ”Have her drink both cups.” She then pointed to the Jianjing and LI-04 acupoints. ”Perform massage on these two points repeatedly; it should be effective.” With that said, she exited the room.

In the village, people tended to be more constrained in their actions. This was especially true for matters involving women’s privacy, which required utmost caution.

When she came out into the courtyard, the man hurried over. He seemed to want to ask something but didn’t know what, his expression quite odd. Du Heng took the initiative. ”I’ve given your Wife the medicine. We have three female Doctors and nurses here for the delivery, so we just need to wait.”

This wait stretched to twenty minutes, yet there was no good news. Moreover, the Mother-in-law who had gone to find a Car—she had been gone for nearly Forty minutes now—had vanished without a trace. With no other choice, Du Heng had to send in the reserve medicine for the Woman in childbirth to continue taking. However, this was the final dose. Any more, and the Woman in childbirth wouldn’t be able to withstand it; it could even lead to a massive hemorrhage.

Another ten-plus minutes passed. The voices of Huo Yinhua and the others could still be heard from inside, but there was no sound of a Baby’s cry. Then, faintly, the sound of an Ambulance siren drifted in from outside the courtyard. They’re finally here!

At that moment, the voices of Huo Yinhua and the others inside the room grew louder, their high-pitched tones carrying a hint of excitement. Suddenly, two figures appeared at the main gate. One was the short woman who had been missing for nearly an hour—the man’s Mother-in-law. The moment she stepped into the courtyard, she shouted anxiously, ”I found a Car! I found one in the neighboring village! Quick, we need to get her to the Hospital!”

Before her words had even faded, several more figures ran in, carrying equipment similar to what Du Heng’s team had, only newer and lighter. Upon entering, the woman leading the group called out, ”Where is the Woman in childbirth?”

WAAAH!

A loud cry from a Baby rang out. Instantly, everyone who had been about to speak fell silent, their gazes all turning towards the source of the cry.

The baby’s born?It’s born!

And so, many people stood in the courtyard, all silent and still, anxiously watching the hanging door curtain. They were all waiting with the same anticipation, hoping for the curtain to be lifted and for good news to arrive.

When the cry sounded, the short woman froze for a moment. Then, after about ten seconds, she burst into heart-wrenching sobs, a cry that was both agonizing and unrestrained. The female Doctor who had rushed in last was beside the short woman and quickly reached out to support her as she sagged.

The man beside Du Heng was also stunned by that tender cry. Before he could recover, his Mother-in-law’s sobs drew his attention. Seeing his collapsing Mother-in-law, the man moved to help her, but as he took a step, he swayed himself. Du Heng quickly steadied him. ”Don’t get too worked up. This is good news, great news!”

”Doctor,” the man said, ”let me down. My legs feel weak. I want to sit for a bit.”

”Alright, sit down slowly,” Du Heng replied.

About five minutes later, the door curtain was finally drawn aside. Wang Lili stood at the entrance, smiling. ”Mother and child are safe. Everyone, please don’t worry. We’ll just finish up a few things and be out shortly.” With that, she let the curtain fall and went back inside.

The man, having recovered somewhat, was overcome with excitement and hurried over to help his Mother-in-law up.

Their family had made it!

The 120 emergency team members looked at each other, nonplussed. The Baby was born, mother and child were safe, but their timing couldn’t have been more... opportune. The Baby was born just as they walked in. If they weren’t embarrassed, who would be?

Just then, someone from behind quietly asked the female Doctor at the front, ”Dr. Deng, what do we do now?”
