Emperor’s Domination

The scripture was rather short with only eighty-one characters. However, they were the basis of Desolate Frontier.

Plenty of reasons existed for Desolate Frontier’s success, but the scripture might play the biggest role.

It explained the ways for cultivators, fostering them into emperors and primal ancestors.

A girl sat before the tablet in a state of meditation. She became one with heaven and earth. A single thought could stop the flow of time and space. Even the dao would stagnate.

She wore a simple gray dress but her aura was anything but simple. She was gorgeous with sword-like brows reaching into the clouds, capable of splitting the sky and killing gods.

If she were to open her eyes, the movement of her brows alone would scare the soul out of anyone. This murderous potential didn’t deter her beauty.

Her features were immaculate and timeless. One could never get tired of staring at her. Alas, they would never dare to be so direct.

Her flawless complexion had a chilling effect, seemingly capable of turning people into ice sculptures.

One couldn’t help but steal glances at her, asking for nothing more in return. The proudest genius would feel inadequate and lower their head. Alas, something charming regarding her arrogance always caused temptation.

Li Qiye walked closer to the tablet and began reading. His arrival caused her to open her eyes, illuminating the night sky and freezing others with her breathtaking aura.

However, Li Qiye ignored her and focused on reading.

“Well written, profound but could be shortened.” He commented.

She frowned upon hearing this and glared at Li Qiye. Her eyes could send out the coldest and sharpest beams.

However, the lack of response from Li Qiye surprised her, causing her to frown more. The slightest change of expression would have a strong impact on anyone else.

“Bold words.” She said calmly, expressing her stance. Something about her words commanded respect.

Moreover, logic was on her side. After all, who would dare to insult Desolate Scripture?

Desolate Ancestor wrote it down after becoming an immortal. The eighty-one words contained the mysteries of the immortal ascension.

No one in Three Immortals could criticize the tablet, not even Zhan Sansheng.

“Bold words is what a frog in the well would say.” Li Qiye sat on a random boulder, resting his chin on his hand.

The woman’s expression soured but she didn’t become angry: “Tell me how you would describe the mysteries of the dao then.”

“Just two words.” Li Qiye smiled.

“Two words?” She pondered for a second, looking beautiful.

“Dao heart.” Li Qiye said.

“Dao heart.” She gazed penetratingly but he still casually stared at the white clouds.

“The dao heart is essential, yes, but not everything.” She said.

“One is nothing without the dao heart.” Li Qiye said: “Cultivation is not possible without the dao heart, subjected to the fate of a withering mortal.”

She took her time before answering: “Ancestor Jiang, indomitable dao heart and immaculate talent. He still died in the end.”

“The dao heart doesn’t guarantee immortality. If you think that success is guaranteed by having a firm dao heart, it shows that your dao heart is not firm.” He said.

“You!” She needed a deep breath before responding: “If that is not enough to become an immortal, what more does one need?”

“Do you think immortals just fall from the sky? Was it so easy for the three immortals and your progenitor? The thing being proven is just the method, but the dao heart is not a method.” Li Qiye said.

“What is the dao heart then?” She asked coldly.

“The self.” Li Qiye said.

“Why is that?” She asked.

“One is worthless without a proper dao heart, it is the essential definition of the self.” Li Qiye said.

“Ancestor Jiang had everything, why did he fail? What’s the point of a firm dao heart if it failed him?” She asked.

“Would he have achieved what he did without a dao heart?” Li Qiye asked.

“At the very least, he should have become a supreme overlord.” She said.

“Don’t be overdependent on the dao heart. It determines how far you can go but doesn’t guarantee it.” Li Qiye said.

“Then what’s the point?” She said.

“Ruminate my previous statement. The dao heart helps you have no regret with the dao, it gives you the courage to move forward.” Li Qiye said.

“Still useless.” She insisted.

“Did Jiang Ba have any regret? No, he followed his pursuit and died for the dao. He could have lived a borrowed life and waited for someone else to try but then, he would never be the first to see the opportunity.” Li Qiye said.

“And he was rewarded with death.” She uttered coldly: “Why couldn’t he go farther?”

“Feeling indignation? You can abandon the dao heart then and see how far you will go.” Li Qiye smiled.
