My Home's Ancient Well Connects to the Martial Arts World

Chapter 231: Chapter 227: Entrusting the Treasure There

”I don’t know. I can’t quite put my finger on it.” Liu Liqun’s brows were furrowed. ”Let’s just call it a gut feeling. I can’t shake the sense that there’s something unusual about that kid. In any case, just follow him. If you discover any great treasures, then...”

Liu Lihong’s eyes lit up. ”Alright then, I’m on my way!” With that, he immediately retreated from the left tunnel and entered the right one, the same one Ye Xing had taken.

...

Inside the right tunnel, Ye Xing walked about twenty meters forward with his pack before stopping. He took the Qiankun Cloth Bag out from an inner pocket of his robes.

Ye Xing naturally had to keep the Qiankun Cloth Bag hidden. If the Cao and Liu Families discovered it, they would almost certainly try to take it by force. After all, a single Qiankun Cloth Bag was worth several thousand Gold Coins.

Opening the Qiankun Cloth Bag, Ye Xing took out several Detectors. These were the most advanced Detectors in the world—small, agile, and shaped like dragonflies. They were equipped with radar probes and other components that could survey the surrounding environment and transmit the images wirelessly to Ye Xing’s cell phone.

With a flick of a switch, the Detectors immediately took flight, heading down the sides of the tunnel. The Detectors were small and agile, making them difficult to spot in the dim passage. Their surveillance would allow him to map out the entire layout of the Treasure Land’s tunnels, letting him be the first to find any treasure. They were practically a divine artifact for treasure hunting.

Ye Xing swiped his phone screen and tapped an icon. The screen immediately began to display the feeds from the Detectors. By tapping the screen, he could switch between the views from each Detector.

As he was watching the screen, Ye Xing’s brow suddenly furrowed. ’Why is Liu Lihong here?’

The phone screen showed an old man hurrying in his direction. It was none other than the Liu Family Grand Elder, Liu Lihong, a cultivator at the Peak of the Martial Arts Eighth Layer.

’Heh, why would Liu Liqun send this old codger after me? Does he really think someone at the Martial Arts Eighth Layer can control me? Heh!’ A cold light flickered in Ye Xing’s eyes. He decided to simply wait for him in the tunnel.

A moment later, the sound of footsteps grew louder. Before long, the Liu Family Grand Elder, Liu Lihong, had arrived.

”Oh? Elder Liu, what are you doing here? Weren’t you with Patriarch Liu?” Ye Xing asked, looking at Liu Lihong with a surprised expression.

”Little Brother Ye, your Martial Arts are weak. Our Patriarch was worried for your safety and specially sent me to protect you,” Liu Lihong said haughtily.

”Oh, is that so? That’s wonderful! Elder Liu is an expert at the Martial Arts Eighth Layer. It’s truly a relief to have your protection.” Ye Xing said with a grateful expression. He paused, then added, ”By the way, it’s best to keep the accounts clear, even between friends. If we find any treasure, how should we split it?”

”How do you want to split it?” Liu Lihong asked coolly.

”Uhm, well... how about we split it fifty-fifty?” Ye Xing asked, his eyes glinting with greed.

”Fine, you have a deal,” Liu Lihong said with a nod.

”Great! Let’s go find some treasure, then,” Ye Xing said, unable to hide his eagerness.

The two of them immediately headed deeper into the tunnel. As they walked, Ye Xing would sneak glances at his phone. After about twenty paces, the path ahead split into three more tunnels.

”Let’s take this one,” Ye Xing said, pointing to the middle tunnel.

Liu Lihong immediately followed.

After they had walked for about thirty to fifty meters, a stone chamber appeared at the end of the tunnel.

”There’s a stone chamber! There must be treasure inside! We’ve finally found it!” Liu Lihong’s breath came in ragged gasps, his old face flushed bright red with excitement.

”Yeah, this is great! Let’s go, quickly!” Ye Xing feigned excitement, but inwardly he was perfectly calm. ’There really is treasure in that room, and a lot of it. It’s a treasury.’ Ye Xing had already scouted it out with his Detectors, which was why he had led them in this direction.

Inside the stone chamber were three large chests. The chests were piled high with thick stacks of Gold Tickets, and the floor was littered with Gold Coins and jade.

”We’re rich! HAHAHA! So many Gold Tickets! We’re rich! This must be worth at least several hundred thousand Gold Coins!” The Liu Family Grand Elder’s eyes gleamed, his old face radiant. His smile made his face wrinkle up like a blooming chrysanthemum. ”This Daluo Sect couldn’t have been some minor Sect. To find this much treasure in a random room... it must have been a Major Sect.”

Overcome with excitement, Liu Lihong quickly unfastened the Qiankun Cloth Bag from his waist and began stuffing the stacks of Gold Tickets, Gold Coins, and other treasures into it.

At the side, Ye Xing’s eyes darted around, and he immediately hoisted one of the large wooden chests of treasure onto his shoulder.

”HAHAHA, there’s so much! We’ve struck it rich! I’ve lived a long life, but I’ve never seen so much treasure!” Liu Lihong was ecstatic. He gathered the treasure with manic energy, as if on steroids, desperately stuffing the Gold Tickets and Gold Coins into his Qiankun Bag.

In no time at all, he had stuffed nearly all the treasure in the stone chamber into his Qiankun Bag. Liu Lihong’s gaze then fell upon the chest on Ye Xing’s shoulder. ”Hey, Little Brother Ye, what are you doing holding that chest? Quick, put it down!”

”This one’s mine!” Ye Xing said, his gaze wary. ”We agreed on a fifty-fifty split. You’re not going back on your word, are you, Elder Liu?” As he spoke, Ye Xing feigned a nervous expression, clutching the chest of treasure tightly.

”Er, of course not. How could I possibly deceive a junior?” Liu Lihong’s eyes darted around as he chuckled. ”I was just thinking, Little Brother Ye, since you don’t have a Qiankun Cloth Bag, it must be quite a chore to carry that large wooden chest. Why don’t you let me hold on to it for safekeeping? When we’re ready to leave, I’ll give it back to you. How does that sound?”

Seeing that Ye Xing still seemed to be hesitating, Liu Lihong pressed on. ”Surely Little Brother Ye isn’t afraid I’ll keep this treasure for myself? Haha, you worry too much. Just think about it. With my cultivation at the Martial Arts Eighth Layer, if I really wanted to take this chest of treasure, could you possibly stop me?”

”I couldn’t,” Ye Xing said, pretending to think about it seriously. ”You have a point. In that case, I’ll entrust this chest to you for safekeeping, Elder Liu.”

”There, that’s better. I am a clan elder, after all. Why would I covet a junior’s meager assets?” Liu Lihong swiftly stored Ye Xing’s chest of treasure in his Qiankun Bag and smiled. ”Alright, we’ve collected all the treasure from this chamber. This Treasure Land surely has more to offer than just this one spot. Let’s go see what else we can find.”

”Okay!” A faint, knowing smile played on Ye Xing’s lips. He left the stone chamber and took the lead, continuing the search for treasure in other places.
