Chapter 228: Chapter 224: Killing to Silence

In the dead of night, a crescent moon hung like a hook, casting down a tranquil, silvery glow.

Beneath the crescent moon, a gentle night breeze rustled through the forest, swaying the branches and leaves.

Within the silent woods, two men were searching.

”Finding this treasure is going to take forever!”

”I know, right? All of Biluo Mountain is massive. Searching it inch by inch... what a pain.”

”There’s nothing to be done. The Treasure Map is incomplete, so the family could only send a large group of us out to try our luck.”

”I was living the good life back in the city, but instead I get sent to this desolate mountain to get battered by the wind. What rotten luck.”

”Alright, stop complaining. Let’s hurry up and search. If we’re the first to find the treasure’s location, we’ll earn a great merit. The family’s reward definitely won’t be small.”

”That’s true. Hey, look over there! Isn’t that the Patriarch?”

”Huh? I think it is. What are the Patriarch and the others doing out this late?”

The two men turned to look, only to see a party of seven rushing toward them from the base of the mountain. Each of the seven exuded a powerful aura, and they used a Lightweight Skill to land without a sound. Had it not been for a chance glance, they likely would have remained undiscovered.

The seven Martial Artists rushing up from the base of the mountain were none other than Cao Bohao, Liu Liqun, Ye Xing, Gao Zhisong, and their party. As the two searchers spotted the group, the seven of them naturally spotted the two men as well.

”We were already moving stealthily, yet we were still spotted. How unlucky for them.” Cao Bohao frowned. ”Younger Brother Liu, these two appear to be from your Liu Family. You handle it.”

”Mm,” Liu Family Head Liu Liqun nodded, then beckoned to the two men in the distance.

The two men immediately ran over, overjoyed. They bowed and said, ”Greetings, Patriarch!”

”It’s so late. Instead of resting, what are you doing lingering on this mountain?” asked Liu Family Head Liu Liqun. His face was placid, betraying no emotion.

”Patriarch, we came out to search for the treasure’s location. Even though it’s dark and hard to see at night, we were idle and thought we’d put the time to use. We wanted to find the Treasure Land for the family as soon as possible. We don’t mind a little hardship,” the two men replied, eagerly trying to claim credit.

”Mm. Very good, very good,” Liu Family Head Liu Liqun said, nodding.

Even as he spoke, he suddenly channeled his True Qi. His palm shot out with the speed of a thunderbolt, crashing down on the tops of their skulls.

CRACK! CRACK!

The two sharp cracks sounded like bursting watermelons. The men’s skulls shattered, their heads instantly crushed by Liu Liqun’s Palm Force. Dark red blood streamed from their foreheads, over their cheeks, and dripped to the ground. Their eyes were wide with confusion and shock, as if they couldn’t believe why their Patriarch had suddenly attacked—why he wanted to kill them.

”Tsk, tsk. Younger Brother Liu, you are truly ruthless. To think you could bring yourself to kill the junior members of your own family.” Cao Family Master Cao Bohao’s lips curled into a mocking smile. He seemed to be in an excellent mood.

”They had to be silenced. We can’t afford any leaks about our treasure hunt. It is their honor to die for the prosperity of the family.” Liu Family Head Liu Liqun’s gaze was indifferent as he gave the two corpses a cursory glance. In a heavy tone, he said, ”Brother Cao, Brother Gao, everyone, let’s depart immediately. The sooner we get the treasure, the better. We don’t want any complications.”

At Liu Liqun’s words, the group immediately set out. Using their Lightweight Skill, they followed the directions on the Treasure Map and continued to press on toward the treasure’s location up the mountain.
