Chapter 209: Chapter 206: Huh? Why Did Brother Biao Stop Fighting?

”Hey, it looks like a fight’s about to break out over here! Come look!”

”Is it a gang fight? What’s going on?”

”That guy in the sunglasses is so fast!”

”He’s using Longevity Fist! He’s so skilled! That guy’s a Longevity Fist master. The kid over there is screwed!”

”What’s Longevity Fist?”

”You don’t even know what Longevity Fist is?”

”Old Li, you don’t even know about Longevity Fist? Don’t you dare say you’re from Luoxian County!”

”Old Li, you’re a disgrace! Our Luoxian County is the birthplace of Longevity Fist. It’s a new Fist Skill that’s taken the whole province by storm in just two or three months. They say it’s way stronger than things like Taekwondo or Karate.”

”Why are those guys all holding iron pipes? Are they trying to kill someone?”

”It’s a gang fight. Should we call the police?”

More and more people rushed to the square’s perimeter to watch, whispering amongst themselves.

It was already past seven o’clock. The night was dark, and the dim yellow lamps in the square cast a hazy glow.

’Should I dodge, or should I trip him? Hmm, his Fist Skill has some nice-looking moves, but it’s just too slow!’ Ye Xing shook his head slightly, watching Xue Biao close in on him.

Xue Biao’s massive fist, whistling through the air with power, smashed toward Ye Xing’s face.

Many of the more timid onlookers turned their heads or closed their eyes. To them, that punch carried immense power. If it landed, it would definitely leave a huge, dark bruise on his face.

However, the expected sound of a fist hitting a face never came.

Even Ye Xing was a little surprised. Of course, he wasn’t surprised that the fist hadn’t hit him—that would have been impossible. He was surprised that his opponent had suddenly stopped just as the punch was about to land.

Xue Biao, dressed in all black, seemed frozen in place. His fist was trembling—and not just his fist, but his legs were shaking too.

”You... You are?”

With a trembling hand, he took off his sunglasses. As if confirming something, his expression changed drastically, his face turning deathly pale. His terrified gaze fell upon Ye Xing in utter panic.

Even though it was night, they were less than a meter apart, and now the sunglasses were off. Xue Biao could now see the young man’s face with perfect clarity.

Instantly, cold sweat beaded on his forehead.

”’B-Brother Xing, you’re Brother Xing!?’ Xue Biao’s lips quivered as he stammered. He felt his throat go dry and his legs turn to jelly. There was even a hint of a sob in his voice.”

’Right now, he didn’t just want to cry; he felt like dying. He was terrified beyond belief, feeling like he was utterly screwed.’

...

”Huh? That’s weird. Why did Brother Biao stop fighting?”

A few of his lackeys behind him were utterly confused.

”Yeah, didn’t Brother Biao lose at mahjong and want to blow off some steam? Why’d he suddenly pull his punch?” Bao Dachang was just as baffled. ”I’ll go ask.” With that, he ran forward.

”’Brother Biao, why’d you stop?’ Bao Dachang asked in confusion as he reached Xue Biao’s side. As he spoke, Bao Dachang noticed that his Brother Biao seemed a little off today. Were his legs... shaking? ’Am I seeing things?’ Bao Dachang couldn’t help but rub his eyes and look again. Nope, Brother Biao’s legs were definitely shaking. ’What’s going on?’”

”’You’re asking me why I stopped? Who do you want me to hit?’ Xue Biao slowly turned his head, his gaze fixed deadly on Bao Dachang.”

”’Hehe, this kid, of course! Brother Biao, you have to beat the crap out of him!’ Bao Dachang said, pointing a finger at Ye Xing.”

”’Oh, okay. I’ll hit him!’”

Xue Biao practically ground the words out through clenched teeth, then raised his hand and swung a vicious slap.

”SLAP!”

A loud crack echoed across the square.

Xue Biao’s heavy slap landed squarely on Bao Dachang’s face, knocking him to the ground. His head spun as he landed flat on his back.

A bright red Palm Seal quickly appeared on his face, stinging fiercely. Bao Dachang was completely stunned. ”B-Brother Biao, you hit the wrong person! Why are you hitting me?”

”’Wrong person? I didn’t hit the wrong person! You’re the one I’m beating! You... fucking... tried to screw me over! And you tried to screw me over bad!’ Xue Biao’s eyes were bloodshot. Panting heavily, he raised his fists and rained blow after blow down on Bao Dachang.”

”THUD!” ”THUD! THUD! THUD!”

”AHH!” ”Brother Biao, what the hell is going on?!”

”THUD! THUD! THUD!” ”THUD! THUD! THUD!”

Bao Dachang shrieked in pain as his legs, waist, and face were quickly covered in swollen, dark bruises.

”’What’s happening? Why is Brother Biao beating up Old Bao?’”

”’Why did Brother Biao suddenly go crazy? Is he going to beat us up next?’”

The four nightclub lackeys standing nearby looked at each other, their hearts filled with dread. They clutched their iron pipes, unsure of what to do. They wanted to run, but didn’t dare.

As for the surrounding crowd, they were all completely dumbfounded, their jaws on the floor. The situation had turned so quickly that they couldn’t even process it.

Aunt Zheng, standing to the side, was also dumbstruck. ”This... Isn’t Old Bao one of Xue Biao’s trusted men?”

”Ye Xing, why is that man beating his own subordinate?” Zhao Liqing’s eyes were wide, the scene before her both delighting and astonishing her.

”’No idea. Maybe he just suddenly felt his subordinate was more punchable,’ Ye Xing said with a slight smile and a shrug, looking as if it had nothing to do with him.”

”THUD!” ”AHH!”

”THUD! THUD! THUD!”

After beating him wildly for nearly ten minutes, Xue Biao was perhaps tired and finally stopped.

Bao Dachang lay on the ground, half-dead. His body was a mess of purple and blue bruises, his face swollen like a steamed bun. It was a perfect illustration of the saying—he was beaten so badly his own mother wouldn’t recognize him.

”’Do you know why I beat you?’ Xue Biao snarled, clearly still furious.”

”’N-no...’ Bao Dachang whimpered, his face a mask of misery. He felt so wronged he was on the verge of tears. ’It would be one thing if I knew why, but getting beaten by my own boss for no reason... what a terrible injustice.’”

”’You provoked someone you should never have provoked! It’s one thing if you want to die, but the key is you dragged me down with you! Get up! Get up and apologize to Brother Xing!’ Xue Biao grabbed Bao Dachang and dragged him in front of Ye Xing like a dead dog.”

”THUD! Xue Biao dragged Bao Dachang down to his knees directly in front of Ye Xing. He stammered, ’Brother Xing, I was blind just now, I didn’t see it was you. If I’d known it was you, I wouldn’t have dared, not even if you gave me a hundred times the courage.’”

”’I’ve already given this Bao Dachang a savage beating. If you’re still not satisfied, I can personally cripple him!’ Xue Biao said viciously, gritting his teeth.”

”’Brother Xing, spare my life! Brother Xing, spare my life!’ Bao Dachang begged in a terrified panic. Although he still had no idea who Ye Xing was, judging by his own boss’s reverent attitude, the young man before him was definitely a major figure—someone he absolutely could not afford to offend.”

This scene made the four lackeys’ hearts pound with fear. Their boss, Xue Biao, was the top man at Junhao Nightclub, a capable subordinate of Boss Wu Qiang, and a figure of some standing in the Luoxian County underworld. And yet, here he was, kneeling and begging for forgiveness from a young man, his face a mask of terror. The four lackeys were scared witless. They scrambled forward and knelt before the young man just like Xue Biao and Bao Dachang. They had just been about to beat this very same young man with iron pipes! They were courting death! The four of them were regretting it so much their guts were turning green.

The surroundings fell completely silent. Everyone in the crowd, including Aunt Zheng and Zhao Liqing, stared with their mouths wide open. If they were merely surprised when they saw Xue Biao savagely beating his own subordinate, Bao Dachang, now they were shocked beyond belief.

The gangsters who had been brimming with murderous intent just moments ago were now kneeling en masse before a single young man. Who in the world was he?

This was supposed to be a society governed by law. For one person to kneel to another—how terrified must they be?

”I don’t think I’ve seen you before. Do you know me?”

A faint smile played on Ye Xing’s lips as he watched the terrified, kneeling Xue Biao with great interest.
