My Home's Ancient Well Connects to the Martial Arts World

Chapter 204: Chapter 201: I’ve Got a Girlfriend

Chapter 201: I Already Have a Girlfriend

Back at home, a TV show was playing on the large screen of the living room’s LCD television.

His mother, Lin Yufang, and his father, Ye Guozhong, were sitting on the sofa, cracking melon seeds as they watched.

The show was a cartoon, Pleasant Goat and Big Gray Wolf. Onscreen, Big Gray Wolf was getting viciously whacked with a frying pan by his wife.

The couple was watching, but it was mostly just to pass the time. Though their eyes were on the screen, their minds were really on what they were talking about.

”Yu Fang, I heard our neighbor, Aunt Zheng, has some dealings with people from the criminal underworld. The girl she introduced... is this on the level?”

”Of course it is. Aunt Zheng is a good person. It’s not like she’s actually in a gang, she just knows a few people on that side of things. Who doesn’t have a friend or two these days? The girl’s name is Zhao Liqing. I’ve met her. She’s very pretty, with delicate features and a lovely face. She lives in Qitou Village, right next to our Ice Sea District. The only thing is, her family seems to be a bit poor. Her father passed away when she was young, so she comes from a single-parent home. Apparently, her mother injured her back at work and has been bedridden ever since. Sigh, the poor girl. Everything else about her is wonderful, it’s just that...”

”Being a little poor is no problem,” Ye Guozhong said. ”Our Axing can earn plenty of money now; it’s not like we’re short on cash. The most important thing is that she’s a good person!”

”That’s true. The last I heard from Aunt Zheng, the girl is also a student at a prestigious university—Fudan or something like that. She’s very quiet and gentle. She’s pretty, too, but our Axing is no slouch in the looks department, either. Maybe they’ll hit it off the moment they meet.”

”If they do, that would be wonderful! We might be holding a grandchild by this time next year!”

”Haha! Oh, right, why isn’t Axing back yet? It’s already three-thirty. We can’t have the young lady waiting for him!”

”Exactly. Aunt Zheng and we both pulled strings to set up this meeting. If that little brat Axing is late, what kind of impression will that make? Yu Fang, hurry up and call him. That kid said he’d be home this afternoon. If he dares not show up, I swear I’ll break his legs!” Ye Guozhong declared.

”Alright, I’ll call him right now. The man should be the one to take the initiative.” Lin Yufang quickly pulled out her phone and was just about to dial Ye Xing’s number.

Just then—

CREAK!

The apartment door opened, and a young man in jeans and a white knit sweater walked in. It was Ye Xing. He hadn’t been back in a while and found that he really did miss his parents.

”Mom, Dad, I’m home!” Ye Xing said with a grin.

”You little rascal, so you do know the way home! Quick, quick, go get yourself cleaned up. It’s almost four o’clock!” his mother, Lin Yufang, said urgently.

”Huh?” Ye Xing looked completely baffled. ”What’s going on? What’s at four?”

Seeing his parents’ frantic expressions, Ye Xing couldn’t help but feel a little anxious. ’Did something terrible happen at home?’

”A blind date! What else could it be? You’re so disappointing. A grown man and you still can’t manage to get a girlfriend, leaving your mother and me to worry about you all the time!” Ye Guozhong scolded in a stern voice. ”Now go wash your face and hair. Hurry up.”

”Axing, hurry and wash your hair, take a shower, and get yourself looking presentable. A girl will only be interested if you look neat and clean,” his mother, Lin Yufang, chimed in.

”What? A blind date?” Ye Xing stared blankly for a second, then said with exasperation, ”Mom, Dad, didn’t I tell you? You should just be at home enjoying a quiet life. Why are you setting up blind dates and worrying about me for no reason? I’m not going!”

Ye Xing felt a massive headache coming on. His parents’ nagging was relentless. He really didn’t want to go on some blind date, especially since he already had a girlfriend. Given how perfect Mengxue was, Ye Xing didn’t believe there was a single woman in the world who could be better. He was already incredibly satisfied to be with a celestial beauty like her, and the two of them were truly in love. All he wanted now was to raise his strength, break through to the Innate Realm, gain enough power, and then head to Celestial Snow Mountain to reunite with his Little Mengmeng as soon as possible.

”What kind of attitude is that? Are you trying to make us angry on purpose?!” Ye Guozhong boomed. ”Four o’clock this afternoon. Dior Cafe. The table is already booked. You’re going whether you want to or not! Otherwise, don’t ever think about setting foot in this house again. I’ll just pretend I never had a son!”

”Axing, just listen to us. Your father and I are only doing this for your own good,” Lin Yufang coaxed. ”I’ve seen the girl. She’s very pretty—much prettier than that Qianqian girl—and she’s a student at a prestigious university. I guarantee you’ll be pleased this time!”

Watching his parents play good cop, bad cop, Ye Xing was left speechless. But what could he do? He was their only son, and they were clearly pulling out all the stops to get a grandchild as soon as possible.

If he really refused, his parents would probably get furious. Knowing his dad’s temper, he might actually grab a whip and chase him down the street, and that would be beyond embarrassing.

After thinking it over, Ye Xing decided to just tell the truth. His expression turned serious as he said, ”Mom, Dad, I really can’t go on a blind date. Because... I already have a girlfriend!”

He had originally planned to keep his relationship with Mengxue a secret for a while longer. After all, she was still at the Celestial Snow Mountain Cold Moon Palace, and they faced huge obstacles. Ye Xing had wanted to wait until he was powerful enough to be with her openly, spirit his Little Mengmeng back to Earth, and then bring her home. He had pictured telling his parents then and giving them a huge surprise.

But now his parents were pushing way too hard. He could just imagine that even if this blind date was a bust, they would just arrange another, and then another. The very thought made his head ache. He figured he might as well come clean now and save himself a mountain of future trouble.

Sure enough, the moment Ye Xing announced he already had a girlfriend, both of his parents’ eyes lit up, and smiles instantly bloomed on their faces.

”You already have a girlfriend? That’s wonderful! Why didn’t you say so sooner, you silly boy!” his mother, Lin Yufang, said, overjoyed.

His father, Ye Guozhong, was happy but also a little suspicious. ”Axing, is this for real? You’d better not be trying to pull a fast one on me and your mother!”

”Of course it’s real! One hundred percent! How could I possibly lie to you guys about something like this?” Ye Xing said with a smug hum. ”Your future daughter-in-law is incredible, let me tell you. Not only is she gorgeous, but she’s an amazing person, too! Unbelievably good, so beautiful it’s like she’s from a fairy tale, a real goddess.”

”Ooh, listen to you, so proud of yourself, haha! Quick, tell me everything! Where’s she from? Where does she live? What does she do for a living? How many brothers and sisters does she have? And right, why didn’t you bring her home? Hurry up and bring her home so I can meet her!” His mother, Lin Yufang, was getting more and more excited and couldn’t wait. ”If we all like her, we can just go ahead and plan the wedding!”
