Hidden Marriage, Overbearing Love: Mr! Please Let Me Go

He helped fetch water for her foot bath, even pleaded with her humbly. Such a Beitang Yao melted her heart; after all, she was originally a kind-hearted person whom others might call naive. Beitang Yao admitting his wrongs like this, she really couldn’t resist.

Before long, Beitang Yao came in with a tray, placed it on the bedside table, picked up an egg, tapped it on the tray, peeled it, and handed it to her, ”The temperature is just right, it’s already been peeled, eat it while it’s warm.”

She took the egg, still emitting a trace of steam, and took a gentle bite, ”Thank you.”

He grabbed a few tissues, wiped his hands, then picked up the bird’s nest soup, scooped a small spoonful, and blew on it: ”Have some of this, be careful not to choke.”

Xia Qingqian could hardly believe that Beitang Yao was taking such careful care of her, her eyes were a bit vacant as she blankly looked at him, slightly opened her mouth, took the spoonful in, and swallowed the bird’s nest soup.

She was thinking, such a man who is cold on the outside but warm on the inside can easily capture a woman’s heart. Especially this kind of handsome and noble man, occasionally showing gentleness, really intoxicating! If other women encountered him, and the same thing happened, would he treat them the same way as well?

When she thought of this, Xia Qingqian lowered her head, put down the hand holding the egg, with a look of dejection.

People say pregnant women have a very small capacity for tolerance, especially when it comes to their men interacting with other women.

With her status, no matter what he did outside, she had no right to question him, it would only lead to her brooding alone.

”What’s wrong?” Beitang Yao noticed her mood too, quickly put down the bowl, and softly asked.

Xia Qingqian couldn’t bear it any longer, hurriedly reached out to hug Beitang Yao’s lean waist, buried her face in his chest, and whispered, ”Young Master Yao, I’m really scared of you treating me like this. The better you treat me, the more panicked I become, afraid that one day, fate will take back the goodness you’ve shown me.”

Beitang Yao heard her choking tone, raised his hand to gently stroke her back, comfortingly said, ”I won’t, I won’t let you suffer any more grievances.”

She sniffled, sobbing for a while before saying, ”Thank you for comforting me this way.”

She wasn’t stupid; after so much hurt, the words he said now, naturally, couldn’t be entirely trusted.

”Do you think I’m just saying things to comfort you?” His brow furrowed, he gazed at her a bit displeased.

”You move me, but you’ll also make me sad. Words like these you say to me are just harbingers of future hurt. So, I don’t need your promises, nor do I want you to say sweet words to me.” Xia Qingqian tugged at the corner of her mouth; she was genuinely scared, terrified even, that such a Beitang Yao would always find a way to catch her off guard.

Beitang Yao’s brow furrowed deeply, staring at her intently, knowing she must be immensely disappointed in him hence her cold demeanor towards him.

He gently caressed her face and sighed, saying, ”Qian Qian, don’t be so plagued by uncertainties, okay? If you still don’t believe in my sincerity, here is a knife.” He took a knife out from the drawer, handed it to her hand, ”You can cut open my chest to see if I’m sincere towards you.”
