One-Eyed Monster

Looking at the listless Igor, Perkins couldn’t help but laugh.

Igor’s expression clearly showed his discontent with everything happening now; he didn’t know what was going on, nor did he understand why things had developed this way.

He had originally come here to verify his suspicions, but who would have thought that things would turn out like this, completely unlike his imagination.

He didn’t know how to face the current situation; it seemed as if he was almost controlled by a sense of despair, unable to shake it off even a little.

Teacher Hadi said it was time to talk about serious matters, but Igor couldn’t understand what ”serious matters” were anymore. It felt like he had been rambling nonsense in front of a group of people, and it was becoming very awkward.

”I know some of you are confused right now, and some of you are quite relaxed, but it doesn’t matter, because what you all ponder is always different,” Teacher Hadi continued, like a wise elder, slowly sharing his philosophy.

”Teacher, we all know your good intentions, just get straight to the point, there’s no need for this anymore,” Perkins, always a bit impatient, felt like he was already a soothsayer, able to predict what was going to happen next.

”Uh, yeah, Teacher, no need to beat around the bush anymore, my brain seems not to be working well, I can’t analyze such complex matters anymore,” Igor said as well.

”Haha, I knew you would say this, don’t rush, take your time to experience it, your turn will come,” Teacher Hadi showed a childlike face once again.

Igor was no longer surprised; his recent experiences had been quite rich, especially when facing Teacher Hadi. He could say he had faced various expressions, and Teacher Hadi’s ever-changing expressions had made him abandon any hope early on, since those things were a bit inscrutable. Igor hadn’t reached the level yet where he could deduce and infer what was about to happen just by casually observing his surroundings.

Sometimes Igor felt quite pitiful; in the crowd, he was not only unobtrusive but also clumsy. Things that others could grasp quickly took him ages to understand...

Like the current situation, Igor had no idea what was going on, while Perkins and Stan Sol beside him seemed to know everything; he was the only one completely in the dark.

These truly were disgusting matters; Igor felt disgusted with himself, why hadn’t he sensed Teacher Hadi’s intentions at all?

The root cause was his stupidity, lack of diligence usually, although he considered himself to have worked hard without slacking off, and yet he hadn’t even grasped the fringes... Igor found it truly ironic. Especially as he’d once felt self-inflated, thinking he’d already grasped the essence of the Adventurers with Class and that it only took a little more serious effort to achieve his dream of becoming an Adventurer.

But now he found that it was all a dream, and he’d almost been trapped within it.

Igor felt he was really stupid, what others could achieve, he couldn’t, merely enjoying the moment, unable to enter the inner sanctum.

Thinking back on his past plans, Igor blushed; the more he knew, the more ignorant he felt...

Lately, Teacher Hadi and the others’ jokes about him went unheard; he was wallowing in self-blame, unable to pay attention to others’ words.

”Since Igor is a bit out of touch now, we won’t joke about him anymore, let’s talk about serious matters,” Teacher Hadi mentioned ”serious matters” again. He was about to say something earlier but got sidetracked by Igor’s interruption, yet luckily no one else prompted him, and he remained in his own rhythm, unperturbed.

”Firstly, I want to say that the Sol Family is truly resilient, each member is strong-boned,” this was a sincere compliment, without any exaggeration.

Stan Sol didn’t react much, neither criticism nor praise could stir his emotions, as if he had also learned the Politician’s skill of emotional control.

”Alright, let me tell you, I’ve actually been commissioned by Dean Hoffman; he’s a great Scholar, his calculations are usually almost accurate, and this time is no exception.”

Teacher Hadi slowly unveiled the facts, gradually laying out the clear matters before Igor and the others.

Teacher Hadi knew they would come because Dean Hoffman had calculated it.

Aside from Teacher Hadi, Dean Hoffman also fully understood Igor’s temperament; this young man’s peculiar nature had long been known throughout the academy, probably with few unaware of it.

Dean Hoffman calculated a person’s future, foreseeing Igor bringing his friends to meet Hadi, and among these friends, there was someone who could influence the sleeping Thunder.

Initially, Teacher Hadi didn’t pay much heed to Dean Hoffman’s calculations, not denying their accuracy but only acknowledging the first part, dismissing the predictive statement.

Teacher Hadi originally thought there was no such phrase as ”calculation accuracy,” thinking everything was a coincidence.

But this time, the coincidence was a bit too coincidental.

”Teacher, you mean you knew we would come before we even arrived.”

”Correction, it’s Dean Hoffman who knew, he said his calculation had a high probability of happening. I hate probabilities, so now I can only say, what a coincidence.”

Anyone could hear a hint of resentment in Teacher Hadi’s voice, actually jealousy towards Dean Hoffman’s all-knowing state.

”Uh, Teacher, you mean, everything you did was because of Dean Hoffman’s commission?”

”That’s right, that’s the reason for everything; you should know, constantly dealing with someone who knows the future is truly annoying.” This complaint seemed to grow more and more significant.

Igor shrugged, internally a bit happy, realizing that someone could restrain Teacher Hadi’s eccentricity.

Teacher Hadi sighed: ”Now, I’ve completed my task, and concluded that you’re all very excellent.”

”Excellent, what excellence?” Igor was puzzled.

”You can go to see Dean Hoffman now, any other matters, feel free to ask this old man later.” Teacher Hadi ignored Igor’s questions, directly telling them what to do next!
