One-Eyed Monster

Igor expended considerable effort to explain the key points to Perkins...

Initially, Perkins was confused, but later realized, exclaiming that he had confused himself with his storytelling, forgetting even such simple matters.

It’s like someone who is fine at first but then starts boasting to others, talking more and more until they don’t even know what they’re saying, completely insane. That was the state Perkins was in just now, so he didn’t understand many things.

Now that Igor had spent significant effort explaining to him, Perkins felt relieved.

Both Perkins and Igor admired Stan Sol at that moment because Stan Sol had been very quiet, without making a single sound.

Stan Sol wasn’t annoyed by them nor found them bothersome; he just sat there quietly with his eyes closed, as if no amount of noise could wake him.

”If only I could reach the level of the Sol Brothers,” Perkins sighed, feeling that he could never stay quiet and just kept wanting to talk, as if not talking would make him feel lonely.

”If only I could reach your level,” Igor suddenly felt his own regrets, seeing Perkins looking so downcast. He longed to travel the world like Perkins, to explore and gain countless experiences...

”What’s there to envy about me? I’m not even an Adventurer,” Perkins thought Igor was a bit silly; an Adventurer envying a Non-Adventurer...

”You’ve traveled so many places; you can be considered an Adventurer!” Igor insisted.

”But, but I’m not an Adventurer,” Perkins was puzzled, wondering how he suddenly became an Adventurer, which didn’t seem right, and he couldn’t accept that conclusion.

”Is being an Adventurer that important? After all, you’ve traveled so many places, and you can enter my Inner World!” Igor saw it simply; to him, even if Perkins wasn’t an Adventurer, he was still an Adventurer because what he did was no different from an Adventurer, perhaps even better.

”Now that you say it, there might be a point, but all your reasoning seems more like fallacies. I’m not an Adventurer, so I’m not an Adventurer; I’m just an Apothecarist.”

”Ah, whatever, think what you like... Ah, speaking of Apothecarist, I just realized you haven’t explained the key points from earlier, hurry up, hopefully, we can resolve this before we reach Yonder Travel Academy.”

”Oh, oh, I nearly forgot about that, just got busy envying the Sol Brothers. Haha,” Perkins laughed awkwardly, then fell into reminiscing.

The memory was somewhat old, but still vivid in his mind. When he traveled to the Wensi Empire, he naturally became curious and wanted to visit the Tree Spirit’s territory.

However, as he wasn’t an Adventurer, his skills weren’t enough to protect himself, so he was hesitant, unsure whether he should go or not.

Yet, he didn’t stop his steps and reached the edge of the forest where the Tree Spirit lived.

He didn’t expect that there were many inhabitants at the edge of the Alfalfa Forest where the Tree Spirit resided, and these people lived in grass huts, hunting and gathering in the forest to survive.

”Are these people Vero People?” Igor asked curiously.

”Yes, of course, they are, but they call themselves God’s children; in their eyes, the forest is God, and they are the children of the forest. This is quite similar to the Tree Spirit.”

”Don’t the Tree Spirits bother them, being so close...” Igor asked, finding it an incredible thing.

”No, they get along well with the Tree Spirit, calling them Messengers of the Spirit.”

”Messengers...” Igor heard a very mystical term.

”Yes, let me finish. I’m telling you, their story is quite peculiar, with many interesting tales!” Perkins started again, as if a series of interesting stories were about to slowly echo in the carriage!

”Hold on, don’t, I know you reminisce about that time, but I said, focus on the key points, don’t elaborate endlessly, it will never end.”

”Uh, then, what’s the key point?” Perkins asked, interrupted by Igor, unsure of what to say next.

”The key point is to talk about why the Tree Spirit calls you an Apothecarist!”

”Oh, well, it’s a long story...” Perkins hesitated a bit, as it was a long story, and he didn’t know how to begin.

”Focus on the key points!” Igor felt like prying open this guy’s head at that moment to see what was inside...

”The Tree Spirit called me an Apothecarist because I saved one of them.” Perkins scratched his head, having learned this from Igor, he kept doing it since.

”Save someone and they call you an Apothecarist?” Igor found it unbelievable, it was just so bizarre.

”You know, when I traveled the world, I researched some vegetation from Wizards, keeping a wizard’s compendium with me because I knew people always overlook colds or injuries. As long as you know some self-help techniques and some herbs, you can prevent trouble, and along the way, I saved many with potions and the compendium. You know, because of wars, viruses spreading around...”

”Stop, stop, don’t talk about these useless things, I know you’re someone who’s learned a little Wizard’s medical skills, after all, it’s just techniques, not skills; ordinary people can learn them too.” Igor interrupted Perkins, feeling the topic drifting further.

”I told you it’s a long story!”

”I told you to focus on the key points, just directly say how you helped the Tree Spirit.”

”It wasn’t much; I just saw they were pitiful. That Tree Spirit seemed poisoned or something, they couldn’t wake it, reportedly needing blood to ease it, so I cut my hand and let the Tree Spirit absorb the blood.”

Perkins nonchalantly said, leaving Igor completely stunned, a Tree Spirit needing blood, what is going on!

”I already said, it’s a long story, but you insisted on the key points; I don’t even know where the key point is in the story.”

”Perhaps, maybe, probably, it’s the blood,” Igor’s eyelids twitched, feeling like he might have indeed found the key point.

”Haha, later, I fainted due to excessive blood loss, and it was the Tree Spirits who woke me up,” Perkins continued, unknowingly triggering a realization in Igor with his offhand comment.
