One-Eyed Monster

Perkins was watching intently from the side, then clapped his hands hard: ”Brilliant, beautiful, the use of the flames...”

As he spoke, Perkins felt the others looking at him strangely, as if everyone saw him as a fool.

This made his initially excited feeling disappear instantly, and he stopped clapping.

Perkins himself didn’t feel how bad the impact of his reaction was on others. Everyone else was very tense and concerned about Hustace’s safety, while he was applauding for the person creating the danger. What exactly was he thinking...

The looks from everyone seemed enough to kill Perkins, making him feel very embarrassed. He sheepishly hid behind Igor.

”I was purely drawn by Sol’s move, it was too cool...” Perkins whispered to Igor.

”You’re making too big a misunderstanding.” Igor understood Perkins, but he couldn’t be as simple as Perkins. He had to consider many things. After all, both Stan Sol and Hustace were his friends, and he didn’t want them to kill each other.

However, after the shock, the person involved, Hustace, seemed very calm, which greatly surprised Igor. Hustace had always been timid before, but now he displayed a kind of calm that was identical to the calm shown by Rostov.

Rostov’s calm was that of a politician, a temperament honed over many years, hiding emotions had become routine. Hustace’s calm was quite intriguing.

It seemed that Hustace was not at all worried about falling into a dangerous situation. He remained calm and relaxed, observing everything, as if it had nothing to do with him.

”Don’t worry, young master, we will find a way, don’t be nervous.” Nakasha, along with the Thunder Army, moved with Stan Sol. He maintained a defensive stance because Stan Sol’s attack just now was too fierce, making everyone afraid to attack recklessly.

Although Nakasha was a White Robe, the Natural Force he mastered was plant-based, which was like a moth trying to reach a flame, essentially unable to face the flame’s attack.

Stan Sol held a Flame Sword, transformed by the Sharkmon, looking majestic and impressive. No wonder Perkins applauded, that stance was indeed a bit cool.

Igor felt a bit at a loss; he wanted to help Hustace but also felt Stan Sol had his reasons, leaving him feeling unable to help anyone and only able to stand by.

However, Igor noticed that the Spirit Book he carried was restless, seeming to have a special anticipation for this scene, continually transmitting messages to him.

Actually, Igor was also puzzled. The Spirit Book had previously been unreliable, but it now showed a special state, and only he knew about it, which was quite magical. Although he hadn’t figured out its true use yet, he vaguely felt that the Spirit Book had become part of his life, like the grandmother of the Scale of Faith, occasionally telling him stories, stories only he could understand.

The Spirit Book seemed to say to him, don’t move yet.

But Igor felt that even if he wanted to move, he couldn’t, because he was in a dilemma, not knowing whom to help.

Moreover, Igor felt he himself needed help, because he was confused about what this Spirit Book really was.

”Why is Brother Sol so angry?” Perkins approached Igor and asked with a smile, finding it strange that Stan Sol got angry so suddenly.

”Because he saw your foster father!” Igor answered truthfully, now understanding why Stan Sol suddenly erupted.

”Hmm?” Perkins did not understand and gave Igor a puzzled look.

”It’s a long story. I’ll tell you slowly.” Igor pulled Perkins aside and whispered the stories Stan Sol had once told.

Governor Rostov was internally anxious at this moment, also seeing that neither the Thunder Army nor the League Guard were a match for this flame-playing fellow. Both sides were in a stalemate, waiting for one side to make a mistake. But the flame player had taken his son hostage! He could not tolerate this and wanted to call for reinforcements, but it was pointless. This flame youth’s power was somewhat unsolvable, skilled both at long range and close range, causing Aevernan to break out in a cold sweat, which was very rare.

Rostov appeared calm on the surface, but internally he was already in turmoil. He was speculating on whose behalf this youth was acting, and if it was that old Louvkat again, he would have that old skeleton dismantled later. But thinking carefully, he felt it wouldn’t be Louvkat, since the hired troops that old guy had sent before had been thoroughly checked by him, then he had Aymond kill one as a warning, directly scaring that old guy into withdrawing his commission...

So, who was instructing this flame youth? At this moment, he really couldn’t guess.

Rostov knew he had many enemies, but his enemies wouldn’t dare to act so openly at the gates of the Luona Capital...

The flames shone, causing unease, appearing to carry anger themselves.

Looking at the flames, Rostov found them somewhat familiar, yet couldn’t pinpoint where this familiarity came from.

At this moment, Igor finished telling Perkins that story.

”No wonder, if it were me, I’d unleash this anger too!” Perkins sighed, now able to feel Stan Sol’s fury.

”But, this matter, with Hustace...” Igor felt Hustace was wrongly accused.

”Heh, did you see Hustace’s calmness? He knew early on he’d become a bargaining chip in negotiations, so he was indifferent. Perhaps in Hustace’s heart, he felt Lord Governor was wrong too.”

”I think this must be a misunderstanding.” Igor said, as Governor Rostov still held a high position in his heart.

”This matter needs to be resolved by Lord Governor himself.” Perkins, with his hands behind his back, pretended to be proud, as if everything was within his expectations.

These two were probably the only ones chatting happily on the scene, while everyone else was tense, even Qi Liu, Pifu, and others eager to save Hustace.

But Stan Sol’s anger only grew stronger, not giving the Guardians of Luona any chance to catch their breath...
