Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1387: Chapter 747: Decision-Making

Regarding the three-day holiday, it is precisely what Hamlet needs to recuperate.

After experiencing the Extreme Darkness and Blood Moon, their spirits have been stretched too tight. Now suddenly relaxing, if they jump straight into work without adjustment, problems will arise.

It’s like recovering from a severe illness; even if you improve, you still need to recover, otherwise, it leaves behind troubles.

Another reason is that adjustments are needed both below and above, because the elder’s death signifies that the previous decisions made around ”eliminate the elder” are now obsolete.

This means that the upcoming policies will be different from before, but right now, immediately returning to work based on previous arrangements will lead to changes again in a few days.

This difference creates a suspicion of ”changing orders too frequently,” harming work efficiency and, more importantly, the morale.

Taking several days off ensures a buffer period before returning to work, allowing the higher-ups ample time to adjust strategies and provide new policy arrangements, so development can follow the new decisions directly.

After all, having stopped for so many days, a couple more wouldn’t hurt.

Lance didn’t say much and stepped down, leaving the joy to them.

However, while ordinary people can celebrate, Lance cannot, as the detailed report about events in Hamlet during his absence is presented to him.

The Blood Moon, honestly, Lance didn’t see it, because it appeared when he opened the portal connecting the Dark Dungeon to reality; most likely a projection of the elder.

Later, when the elder was gone, the so-called Blood Moon naturally vanished, and when Lance exited the dungeon, it was daytime with only the sun in the sky.

Something that disappeared doesn’t warrant Lance’s attention; he’s more concerned about the damage the Blood Moon caused.

Many were affected, and more importantly, because of this, most adventurers from the town in front of the ruins have left.

Now reopening, the situation is likely worse, regardless of releasing various news; repeated measures result in immunity, Lance’s intended adventurers are disappearing.

What’s more troubling is the Blood Moon has caused a large part of Hamlet to have wild beasts becoming mad, attacking humans, and the rats in the ruins have grown larger, more frantic, starting to overflow, which is tougher than dealing with Skeletons.

”I knew those adventurers were unreliable.”

Lance could only make a complaint at this point, but not truly angry, as initially bringing in adventurers was to attract evil cultists’ attention, to divert and protect his sneak attack on the old estate.

Now with the estate gone and the elder eliminated, their role is less crucial.

The only regret is not reaping from the adventurers; originally planning to use this to fuel development, now it seems methods must change.

As for the wild beasts and ruins rats, Lance isn’t overly concerned; it’s the intelligence reports he finds more pressing.

According to information relayed by intelligence personnel stationed around, surrounding territories have indeed taken action, but the situation is somewhat unique.

Evil cultists responding to the cult leader or elder’s call have likely reached desperation, lacking time for slow infiltration, resorting to rallying some people to invade Hamlet.

Yet according to the intelligence, these people aren’t fully mobilized, more like self-organized activity below, and local Lords probably permit this to test Hamlet’s intentions.

Nobles driven by evil cult desire land grabbing, aiming to capture areas not covered by the Extreme Darkness.

Evil cultists definitely want direct attacks on Hamlet, and this chaotic situation has resulted in their absence even after the Blood Moon has passed.

These reports have been around for some time, so the current precise status is uncertain.

At dawn, the military received the message and Laura and Boslake led reconnaissance forward, expecting to receive information soon.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Lance gathered Hamlet’s leadership, planning to discuss the matter.

Reynard, Balistan, commanders of the military, had barely returned home before being called back.

Barton also returned from the front-line town, and more people gathered, seemingly aware that the holiday didn’t concern them.

Having served the Lord for so long, somewhat they understand Lance’s routine.

”Though we’ve defeated the evil cult corrupting Hamlet, ending their affliction on this land, victory hasn’t arrived yet; the remaining cultists colluding with surrounding territories, preparing to launch an attack on Hamlet, something we cannot tolerate.”

Lance spread out the detailed map left by the elder, ”This is the true Hamlet Region, and as for us now? Most of it has been occupied by these figures, enslaving our people, ruining our land, which is intolerable!”

Listening to this, everyone seemed to sense something. Were they unaware of Hamlet’s invasion?

In reality, everyone present knew, and even those on the military side had repeatedly proposed territorial reclaiming, including Reynard.

In military introductory courses, the situation of Hamlet’s invasion was discussed, and for the soldiers, the Lord’s dishonor represented theirs.

A bit like the Church traveling this far to launch a Holy War aimed at retaking that so-called Holy City with fervor.
