Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1385: Chapter 746: Victory Day

The seemingly flesh gathered within the entire dungeon is, in reality, the life force painstakingly collected by the Old Ancestor, originally intended for shaping the new god’s body. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always go as planned.

Once the Old Ancestor was taken down, that flesh lost its vitality, akin to a corpse whose heart has stopped beating, that abundant life force lost its physical vessel and began to veer towards another extreme—decay.

If left unchecked to rot and ferment within the dungeon, it might not just result in a plague but could even lead to something like ”Scarlet Decay,” which wouldn’t be surprising.

There’s even a possibility that the uncontrolled life force could, in a place filled with supernatural power like the dungeon, give birth to another intangible flesh or a monster like a God of Pigmen.

Or it might attract the attention of some presence from the void, as supernatural power cannot be comprehended through normal means.

The Old Ancestor is dead, so his remaining issues cannot be ignored.

That’s why Lance used his arm as a ritual vessel temporarily, combining his Power of Flesh and Blood to crystallize the life force in the dungeon, extracting the residual life force...

After waiting for an unknown length of time, Lance finally stepped out from that ancient door, and by this time, the eerie red glow and the escaping aura behind the door slit had dissipated, becoming dull as if swallowed by darkness.

Lance didn’t mind, for ahead awaited Reynard and the others sitting outside, to whom he nodded as a signal.

”Mission accomplished; the false god hidden within Hamlet’s evil cult has been eliminated by us...”

Originally, Lance had a lot to say in his heart, but the churning emotions made him feel surreal, as though everything didn’t matter once the Old Ancestor was dead, and immediately changing his words, he smiled and called out to everyone.

”Let’s go home!”

Alhazred and Lance studied that altar as the key and then used the power of the altar to shut the large door.

The team walked out of the salt-frosted ancient corridor, glancing back unknowingly before leaving, uncertain of when they would return again.

But the next second, they turned and left without hesitation.

This ghostly place, whoever wants to come can do so; anyway, I don’t want to come again...

Outside, sparse sunlight pierced through the old house’s doors and windows, signaling that daylight had arrived for everyone.

The Extreme Darkness receded, sunlight once again enveloping Hamlet, along with hope’s arrival.

Whether it was the desolation of winter or changed feelings, looking at the old house again made it appear even more rickety, dampening Lance’s spirited enthusiasm.

”You all retreat to the dock below; I’ll be back shortly.”

What Lance referred to was naturally the Cripple Walker’s Altar originally untouched when raiding the old house due to concerns over unnecessary trouble.

As for now... without the pressure brought by the Old Ancestor, there’s nothing in the world he wouldn’t dare to do, even challenging the Limping Walker alone does not intimidate him.

Bursting through the door, he tore off the covering black cloth, walking to the sealed windows and merely pushing the boards, which snapped like rotten wood, causing warm light to illuminate the entire room instantly.

The sealing ritual had long been recorded beforehand, and Lance was more than clumsy in its unraveling, directly taking its core and tossing it into the display room.

At this time, the Cripple Walker’s Altar was exposed like this, surprisingly reacting under the glare...

Below, Alhazred, originally having walked a distance, seemed to sense something and abruptly turned back.

This action also made Reynard and the others stop, and although they had ascended to being Legendary, such innate talent as inspiration was inborn. Some people are Transcendents, not Spellcasters, but Spellcasters are certainly Transcendents.

Dismas and others might be able to perceive disturbances around them through senses like vision and hearing, but it’s much harder to sense spiritual fluctuations from such a distance.

Thus they could only ask the scholar.

”Is there anything amiss?”

The scholar tried to say something but couldn’t articulate it.

Can’t very well express that he felt a momentary void fluctuation, but it vanished upon turning his head?

This was puzzling for the few of them, and with this brief delay, they saw the Lord coming out of the old house and decided not to dwell on it.

Lance also found it amusing, as the altar’s activation drew the attention of the Limping Walker wandering in the void, who then dragged him familiarly into the void.

But unexpectedly, the Limping Walker reversed forces him back into reality, effectively fleeing.

Thus, one moment inside, and the next moment out.

It was something he hadn’t anticipated, and even when he did, he was momentarily at a loss to comprehend what had occurred.

Lance instinctively wanted to tear through the void with Black Armor to pursue, thinking, ”Offended the Lord and want to escape?”

But considering the new clothes just worn, he thought better and decided to endure for now, explaining that with the altar in hand, he could play slowly with the Limping Walker later on.

However, a fact uncovered: he’s not very prominent in reality, but the void does not lie.

This minor episode was trivial, as everyone quickly boarded the boat for the return journey, and those initially intended to load blood crystals also carried other passengers back.

It could be said that with the Old Ancestor’s demise, the small dock’s usefulness might have ended, potentially serving as a future naval training base.
