Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1386: Chapter 746: Victory Day (Part 2)

This time, Lance didn’t contact Grendel in advance. Previously, it was because the dungeon was closed off from news, so upon emerging, he needed to know the general situation and then plan ahead on the ship.

But now it’s unnecessary. The Old Ancestor has been dealt with, and not only the veil over Hamlet but also the sacrificial ritual has disappeared.

The countdown to extinction under human calamity has paused, so no matter what trouble arises in Hamlet, it doesn’t matter.

Because he is back, with plenty of time and energy to solve it.

Lance stands at the ship’s bow, staring at the boundless sea with a heart full of joy. Nothing makes him happier than taking down that bastard Old Ancestor.

Hamlet’s troubles are all rooted in the destruction of his wealthy life by the Old Ancestor, the true culprit...

The Old Ancestor’s affairs are countless, and Lance is too lazy to complain about a dead man. What’s more important now is to organize the spoils of taking down the Old Ancestor.

The most significant gain is that he broke through to Legendary during the battle, advancing to Demigod status, truly surpassing human strength which resides in his body.

Then, he took down Alviss and gained the rich legacy of this Legendary Mage, the core of which is a secret realm.

This was purely unexpected, but it’s not a bad thing; getting the inheritance opens up a wider horizon.

Also, using the Old Ancestor’s accumulated flesh to nurture fifty champions, and some heroes received enhancements, which is Hamlet’s foundation and represents the transformation of core strength from quantity to quality.

That covenant’s Limping Walker is hard to say. It’s unlikely Lance would summon it to reality, so what’s left is this thing.

The offering from sacrificing the Old Ancestor, apart from the Divinity, includes two pieces of flesh: [Broken Umbilical Cord] and [Imperfect Placenta].

Lance holds them, seeing they are dark red and resemble dried and shriveled flesh, quite different from the full [Heart of Flesh].

After studying, Lance roughly understands their purpose: they can enhance his comprehension and control over flesh, helping him truly touch the divine realm, which is creating life.

Simply put, he can mold people, similar to the Old Ancestor’s replicas or the divine body the Old Ancestor created for himself.

Of course, this is just a metaphor. In reality, it’s akin to genetic modification technology, like creating a baby independent of a father or mother, true genetic engineering.

You can only say a person’s thoughts are mostly determined by age twenty. The Old Ancestor immediately used this ability for human experiments, producing Pigman, this against-the-nature creation.

While Lance’s first reaction isn’t to use it on humans but on animals.

Those livestock, created after extensive investment by various scientists, selected and bred through long and complex processes, like dairy cows, broiler chickens, large white pigs...various livestock, he can directly cultivate as needed, even stronger.

Entering modern animal husbandry isn’t just a dream!

Together with Grendel’s abilities in plant cultivation, though not as supernatural as his, breeding higher-yielding crops is only a matter of time. Modern agriculture seems to beckon to him.

By then, with increased production of grain and meat, eggs, milk at lower prices, more people can be fed, released from farmland to enter cities.

Urbanization will further spur industrial development, hopefully freeing him from the cursed medieval days without toilet paper.

Though this is an ideal state, Lance knows modern animal husbandry focuses on feed and uses various antibiotics and hormones.

Agricultural yield increases depend on irrigation, fertilizers, and pesticides, with large-scale reliance on mechanization.

But people cannot lose ideals, just as life cannot lose optimism.

Thoughts involuntarily pop up in Lance’s mind, his face naturally showing a relaxed smile, it’s truly fascinating.

The pier is not far from the city, and soon the boat returns to the military harbor, then a carriage takes him into the city.

Lance walks through Hamlet, alongside Baldwin who came upon receiving the news and some officials, while Grendel is busy with doctors in the hospital.

Since daylight has come and the Lord is back, it means they won; Lance didn’t say, and others weren’t about to ask.

Lance’s attention is more on Hamlet, the place that sank under Extreme Darkness and Blood Moon is quickly revitalizing upon seeing the sun.

Everything around gradually begins to recover; everyone opens their doors as if to let the sunshine drive away all darkness.

The once annoying street noise now feels incredibly familiar, with nearly everyone wearing smiles of excited relief.

”Today is established as Hamlet’s holiday, each year starting with a three-day break to hold celebrations.”

Lance quickly makes the decision; the people need this.

”What do we call this holiday?” Baldwin agrees, yet asks this crucial question, as holidays are defined by their meaning.

”Festival of Light? Sun Festival? Dawn Festival? No...” Lance first thinks of the concept of returning to light from darkness, but shakes his head in denial.

Because anything involving the concept of light seems all claimed by the Church, they hold the narrative power; Lance won’t foolishly get involved.

”Remember our strength in facing darkness without yielding, celebrate our great victory, and call it Celebration Festival, this day called Victory Day.”

Speaking, Lance suddenly gets excited, waving his arm.

”Gather everyone in the square, I want to share this victory with them!”

Soon everyone gathers towards the square, tens of thousands nearly filling the widened space, where they finally see their longed-for My Lord.

Standing on the platform, Lance speaks directly, igniting the entire square’s enthusiasm.

”Hamlet, your Lord has returned!”

The sound seems to cross the distance between them directly, echoing in their minds.

Suddenly a tidal wave of cheers ripples from the square across the city, continuously chanting the Lord’s name with fervor like worshipping a deity.

”Alright, alright, calm down and listen to me.” Lance raises a hand, an inexplicable power suppressing their fervor, and once they settle, he continues.

Lance used to speak seldom with lengthy monologues, preferring concise explanations, but now his emotions are somewhat overwhelming, and he begins recounting the evil cult’s harm to Hamlet and their long-standing resistance against the cult.

Actually, this is also shifting blame—all responsibility lies with the evil cult!

With the Old Ancestor defeated, it’s one last burden for the cult.

”And now, through our efforts, the cultists entrenched in Hamlet have finally been purged.” Lance roars, raising his pitch, ”We have won!”

Another round of cheers ensues, but with the prior explosive outburst vented, they soon calm down.

”From today, Hamlet will welcome a brand-new tomorrow...”

Lance seizes the opportunity to announce Victory Day and Celebration Festival, immediately embraced by all, praising the Lord’s mercy and strength.

What is a holiday?

Is it a break?

No, it’s culture! It’s identity!

Hamlet indeed had a glorious history before, but now it’s fallen; this identity is only a label, Lance developed it single-handedly.

Currently, what unifies them isn’t the Lord but Lance, their sense of identity wholly hinges on Lance. To exaggerate, if changed to another Lord, they’d disperse instantly.

Lance, now not for any other reason, uses this grand event’s backdrop to forge communal memories among the populace, heightening their sense of belonging.

Together they’ve endured hardships, shed tears, and finally embraced hope—a perfect theme song.

This is his goal, to truly consolidate the chaotic incoming population.

Just as he said, from today, they only have one identity, which is Hamlet’s People.

And from today, Hamlet will step into a new, hopeful future.
