Speaking urgently, he stepped forward to answer Alvin’s initial question.

”Alright, you asked what you did wrong, now I’ll tell you—why didn’t you die in battle? Why did you come back alive?”

The flood of emotions hit Alvin’s psyche like a torrent, already on edge, his mind was close to breaking.

Alvin had grown up under Bruce’s shadow, with everyone telling him about a good father and a good brother, all hoping he’d be good too.

As a child, he didn’t think much of it, instead felt proud and tried desperately to do better and catch up, but as he grew, the situation became more obvious.

So much so that whatever he did had to be compared with his brother, because Bruce was truly outstanding, and Alvin had been ”disappointing” since childhood.

Whether intentionally or unintentionally, everyone used Bruce’s situation to demand of him, or rather to doubt and suppress him, causing Alvin’s character to become twisted.

Essentially, he was a sensitive and fragile child, perhaps what he wanted was not an heir position, but rather his father’s and brother’s recognition.

Deep down, he always held an admiration for his father or brother, which is why he never agreed with the evil cult leader.

But now it wasn’t necessary anymore.

Alvin’s will is undergoing a test... mad!

”Everyone wants me dead! Why not you die!”

A strange aura grew from Alvin, and after a ghostly scream, he pulled out the ascension dagger hidden in his bosom and stabbed it into the Earl’s chest.

”You!” The Earl had not anticipated this, his face full of shock, he raised his hand to tightly grasp Alvin’s clothes, glaring at his son before him.

”I... this... no...” At that moment, a terrified expression appeared on Alvin’s face, he subconsciously raised his hand to pull out the dagger, already speaking incoherently.

But the power on the dagger had exploded, the Earl fell to the ground, blood began to flow, and his vitality faded away.

If Bruce could let go of his high status, choosing to talk sincerely with Alvin as family, a brother, perhaps things wouldn’t have gone extreme.

If the Earl could let go of the lord identity and instead explain the current situation as a father, perhaps things wouldn’t have reached this point.

If the Earl hadn’t approached the past to provoke Alvin...

Destiny had granted them many opportunities, but all were deemed ineffective, what are the odds?

No saving now...

”Ahhhhh!”

The scene had pushed Alvin into madness, his mouth screaming grotesquely.

The commotion still alarmed the butler outside, as he pushed the door open, he saw the Earl lying on the ground, blood flowing, and Alvin holding a dagger.

This scene needed no explanation, even the butler’s expression showed terror.

Alvin had no retreat, or perhaps he was already insane, he charged straight ahead.

The butler naturally turned and ran instinctively, shouting as he went.

”Guards! Guards!”

The castle had many people, all attracted by the noise, but seeing Alvin chasing the butler made them freeze.

The butler was soon caught up by Alvin, the dagger plunged into his back, but even then, he wasn’t mindful of himself, continuing to call out.

”Hurry and inform Mr. Bruce, Alvin has killed the Lord Earl.”

”Ahhhh! Die!” Not mentioning it was fine, but Alvin seemed agitated, repeatedly stabbing several times, and the butler quickly became a corpse.

Alvin felt the continuous power from the dagger, a bizarre smile appeared on his face, then he started slaughtering, seizing power from those lives.

For a moment, the castle was in chaos, everyone started fleeing, spreading the news...

The Earl was dead, killed by his son Alvin.

What does this mean? Many didn’t believe initially, but more fleeing people confirmed it.

Those cultists focusing on this area naturally sensed what happened, even they hadn’t expected Alvin to act, even ruining their plans.

Alvin acted rashly and crudely, basically impossible to receive perfectly, but it couldn’t be helped now, the leader immediately decided to seize Bastia.

Two difficulties, one is Bruce the heir, second is the city’s Church.

”Missionary, take people to deal with Bruce, I’ll handle the Bishop, you take the gates, be swift, present Bastia to my lord.” The cult leader assigned tasks to his subordinates, declaring the war’s start.

When the leader stepped out of the secret chamber, raising his hand, as if conjuring a bizarre wind sweeping the city, those lurking cultists seemed guided, corruption began to germinate...

Meanwhile, all forces in the city were reacting.

Vick, who had long set eyes around the castle, received the news first, he also sensed a hint of something off, feeling like stepping into a conspiracy.

This wasn’t in his plan, by estimation the conflict shouldn’t escalate this quickly, let alone start with Alvin killing the Earl.

Is the Earl faking death to lure them into action? Are troops already prepared outside for suppression?

Or did something really happen?
