Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1219: Chapter 669: Annihilation!

The moment the two sides met, everyone saw those evil cultists who were actively killing themselves amid the singing, as a strange, indescribable force devoured their lives.

To the naked eye, those self-sacrificing cultists slit their own flesh, letting blood flow freely, but that blood boiled as if it were alive, steaming into a red mist.

The spreading blood mist had trouble diffusing, because you could see it being inhaled into the void like breathing; in just a few seconds the sacrificial victims’ flesh and blood withered, turning into desiccated corpses that toppled to the ground.

Even more terrifying was that the fluctuations coming from the void were growing stronger...

”Shit! It’s the Choir’s large-scale ritual, what the hell are they summoning...”

Amanda had already guessed as much, but the moment she saw it, her heart still clenched.

She knew the Church had a Choir, its members all nurtured from girls with strong Extraordinary Talent and particularly keen inspiration.

One of them alone might not be much, but through ritual they could join together and unleash extremely powerful force.

Since when did an evil cult have stuff like this too?

But Lance reacted even faster than she did, directly tossing out several grenades that landed precisely in the middle of the so-called Choir.

Singing in my house, and singing this badly, I’ve put up with you assholes for way too long!

The reason Lance hadn’t used grenades before wasn’t that he was stingy—these things are pricey, sure, but he could totally afford them.

The real reason was he was worried about damaging the old mansion; after all, it was his home—if he blew some valuable relic to bits, that’d be a massive fucking loss.

He was even more worried about bringing the whole place down; sure, he might survive, but the others probably wouldn’t.

You have to understand, a big building like this isn’t done once it’s built—it takes huge ongoing costs to maintain it for safe use, and the older it is, the more that costs; after many years the accumulated expenses might even exceed the original construction cost, which wouldn’t be surprising at all.

But they’d seen the place on their way in: peeling walls, shattered windows, collapsed staircases, most of the wooden structures already rotten.

You could say the Ascension Sect clearly had zero intention of maintaining any of this.

This was also why he didn’t dare bring in a big squad—condemned buildings can’t take much impact, and nobody wants to bet on that.

But the hall was so spacious there was no risk of collapse, and any damage here was acceptable.

In that brief span of time, the grenades that had landed among the cultists exploded one after another.

The Choir was immediately blown apart by the shockwaves and shrapnel—might not have killed them outright, but breaking the ritual was enough.

”Kill!”

Lance no longer chose to hang back and play ”love-song” duets with those guys; he was going to slam into them, hard.

No matter how many times she saw this, Amanda’s blood still surged—this man feared nothing.

Boudica didn’t give a damn about anything else and charged right in, her face twisted into a crazed grin—battle was the meaning of her existence.

Audrey didn’t understand a thing; she just found herself unconsciously charging after them.

After the Choir was attacked, those evil cult followers also began their counterattack.

All sorts of messed-up evil cult warriors or cult wardens held the front line, while the ones in back lifted Incense Burners and released poisonous smoke; Spellcasters began calling on power from the void to assist them, and the remaining chanters were intoning the sacred hymns of Aberrant Demons...

In short, for a moment the frenzied aura of evil on-site suppressed all other powers, and that force from the Void Demons seemed ready to twist reality itself.

Or to put it another way, some ”filth” was ready to poke its head out...

Unfortunately for them, their enemy was Lance—he didn’t give a shit what weird crap they had going on; he just sliced through, then wrapped things up with Sacrifice.

Not a single one could stop Lance as he plunged into their midst; for a powerhouse like him, diving into the Spellcasters was nothing but a slaughter.

He even saw girls with blades buried in their bodies still praying with devout expressions, but Wolf Fang didn’t buy any of that.

Lance didn’t buy it either; who knew what was really under that skin and flesh—dead cultists were way more adorable.

Sacrifice surged out and swallowed all those frenzied energies; the display was so terrifying that even the things on the other side of the void backed away on their own, and the barrier of reality slowly restored itself.

The battle turned out to be even easier than Lance had imagined, mainly because he’d opened by tossing out a whole string of explosives.

Otherwise, if he’d let them finish the sacred hymns, who knew what they would have summoned out of the void—if their ancient progenitor crawled out, he wouldn’t have been surprised.

But too bad for them—the power of gunpowder cut them off, and then they could only get brutally smashed by Lance.

With reality lacking anchors, those monsters, even if they wanted to meddle in the world, could only be banished and sent rolling back into the void.

Shows you that technology changes the world—power doesn’t have to come only from Void Demons.

Because Lance had joined the fight, the battle, compared to the earlier grueling, urgent ones, ended with a level of ease the others could scarcely imagine.

Amanda and the others were used to fighting alongside Lance, so they were fine with it, but for Audrey this was even more shocking than before.

After all, earlier their actions had been separated—Lance went ahead and chopped, and would casually Sacrifice so there weren’t even corpses left behind.

They, on the other hand, cleared rooms in the rear and never had a concrete sense of what was happening; they only knew their Lord went up for a bit and then came back.

Later, when they faced the evil cult cardinal, it was another invisible clash—only the two sides knew how fierce it really was.

But now, the insane slaughter was happening right in front of her eyes, and that impact was far more visceral.

What the hell, can a human being really do this?

No one gave her an answer—Lance was already busy cleaning up the scene. Too bad that aside from some Spiritual Essence, there weren’t any particularly special rewards.

After that battle ended, the entire old mansion suddenly seemed to fall quiet. Lance suspected all the cultists had been startled by the earlier ringing, then gathered together, planning to borrow the Choir’s power for a counterattack.
