Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1218: Chapter 668: A Battle with Little Substance (2)

As a martial arts expert, at the moment when the axe blade pressed down on the greatsword, Boudica pushed herself completely forward, forcing the opponent to retreat for buffer to compensate for the gap in strength.

But such a retreat is bound to disrupt one’s own rhythm and exertion.

Boudica took advantage of this opportunity directly, giving the enemy no chance to react. She swung the axe-spear behind her to complete the charge, exerting full force that even made her mouth emit a strange howl, and the next second she jumped and slashed almost in full swing.

Howl terminated!

As she slashed down, the sound of the steel being torn echoed simultaneously.

You can see the evil cult sentry’s head being split in half, and this even included the helmet.

Even the most tenacious vitality appears powerless in front of this strike that tears steel, directly shaking and collapsing.

Amanda is still searching for weak points, trying to attack areas with thin armor.

Boudica wouldn’t care about these at all; as long as my attack is strong enough, your armor is useless. I’ll just hurt you to death with sheer damage.

Those cult followers do try to launch attacks, physical attacks, soul-distorting sorcery, and nauseating smoke.

But she is backed up by Lance, Flesh Reconstruction smoothing the scars, Bless eliminating abnormalities. As for the soul?

Those sorceries are just fuel for anger, making it burn more vigorously.

Even the only evil cult sentry who could restrain Boudica has fallen, leaving the others as merely a matter of time.

The evil cult cardinal also noticed this, but his several attempts to intervene were blocked by Lance, and now it is all meaningless.

He seemed to realize something was wrong, however, he could indeed be a cardinal, obviously more enlightened than the escaping Head Clerk; he kept shaking the bell continuously, not sure if it was a warning or a plea, but nonetheless he didn’t run away but prepared to fight to the death.

But what level are you at? Why fight against me?

”Finish him!”

Lance stopped blowing and put away the conch, pulling out the heavy crossbow and fired a shot.

With such a tall figure, there’s simply no space to dodge, the heavy bolt pierced his dry body and almost went through, the powerful kinetic force causing a noticeable sway in his body.

On the other side, Boudica seized this opportunity to cut in, her axe slashing towards him.

The evil cult cardinal raised the magic wand to block, and at the collision moment, a piercing bell sound was stimulated.

His power is not something those insignificant can compare to, immediately interrupting Boudica’s frenzied state.

She quickly broke free from the anomaly, after all, it’s not just Boudica alone against the cardinal. To defeat her, you must first defeat a certain guy.

Lance’s heavy bolt hit the evil cult cardinal’s face, and because it was blocked by the mask, the terrifying force contained acted directly on his head, forcing it to tilt back, interrupting his spellcasting.

When a spellcaster is approached, unless they have close combat abilities like Amanda, otherwise, it is a death wish.

Boudica realized this and immediately twisted her body to charge while mobilizing and exploding all her strength.

Iron Swan!

The axe blade uplifted directly cut off that slender arm, without spilling a drop of blood, like deadwood.

Without the bell magic wand, the cardinal’s threat drastically decreased, but Boudica had no intention to let him off.

One move after another, each being an extension of the next, the axe blade like a storm fell upon the evil cult cardinal’s dry body.

The final jumping slash on the face terminated it all.

The cardinal’s body collapsed with a bang, indicating yet another abominable thing expelled from our land.

And as Bless faded, Boudica’s anger gradually ebbed. The effects of those successive bursts were revealed, and she directly leaned on her axe-spear, panting heavily.

Amanda and Audrey also resolved the evil cult sentry and cleared the remaining riffraff.

After a slight pause, the successive battles also drove everyone’s state into decline, the body facing fatigue, and the pressure accumulated from the previous intense battles.

The thrill between life and death made Audrey a bit at a loss, she couldn’t quite bear the stimulation, after all, she was crushed and tormented just now.

From one extreme to another, now she’s a bit scared, what kind of damned place is this?

Lance was rather unaffected, he hurriedly made sacrifices out of all the corpses since it leads down to the ancestor.

Sniff the smell is enough, you really think about eating, huh?

The evil cult cardinal’s body was devoured by Void Devourer, and that momentary pause thrust Lance into delight.

A set of four odd-shaped small bells strung together, just enriched by dense spiritual fluctuations on them, highlighting their unique and powerful strength.

[Demonic Bell]: Cardinal’s Hunt

Holding it in hand Lance felt its potent strength, as long as developed appropriately, it could achieve similar effects as the evil cult cardinal.

It could be a crisp bell sound or grand toll, able to inspire allies and affect foes.

Because of this, the threshold for using this item was very high, since the user also has to endure the influence brought by that power.

Previously didn’t feel so, now its emergence allows Lance to discover an interesting situation, that is, the low-level sacrificially gifted equipment has no negative impacts.

But reaching a certain degree would yield negatives, like his Black Armor.

However, upon delving Lance found inconsistent reasoning, since Wolf Fang exhibited no negatives.

Now he roughly understands it, it’s heavily related to the origin of the equipment’s power, Wolf Fang’s inexistence of negatives is due to its power not weaving with void, aberrant demon-like bizarre forces.

While things like Black Armor, cast with the ancestor’s fleshcrafting method, also entangled with Void Demons Limping Walker, and old god’s Dark Flame.

The very power weaving this equipment is something ghastly and evil for humans, hence yielding negative effects is entirely normal, but simultaneously the positive effect is much stronger, in comparison accepted.

The bells condensed from the evil cult cardinal’s power follow suit as the name implies, deriving from aberrant demon, hence comprehensible.

That power stems from this, entirely impossible to eliminate influence, because elimination equates to self-annihilation, thus losing such power.

This prompted Lance to recall a phrase—the enemy and I are of the same origin.

However, now’s no time to fuss over these, Lance retracted them and proceeded to buff several people.

”Once I wandered blindly forward...”

A strange sound transmitted as everyone adjusted, instantly triggering their alertness.

”I sense strangeness~ Who’s singing?”

”It’s towards the hall.”

”Seems someone’s singing a tune waiting for us.”

Lance was rather optimistic, after all, what grand scenes hasn’t he witnessed?

”Could this be those guys dining?”

Boudica, previously an army instructor, often heard those soldiers after training marching to dine and singing along the way.

”Cut the nonsense! Be serious, okay?” Lance nearly choked upon hearing, a mix of anger and amusement, originally the tense atmosphere was directly interrupted.

The manor’s evil cultists exceed his imagination, the fights can’t cease now.

The bodily exhaustion has long dissipated, what truly hesitates them is the psychological fatigue.

But after several listening to the two banter, they too relaxed quite a bit.

The squad soon sets out again, along the way no sight of cultists, yet the singing grows clearer.

Lance and his team finally returned from the corridor to the hall, witnessing a large gathering of cultists concentrated there, and among them something being idolized.

Unlike the chaotic placements, in the back of them are ten or so aligned neatly, wearing black robes but without hoods, revealing maiden-like cultists.

These guys reveal no helmets or masks, even dressed quite scantily; from the robe’s simple edges, it seems inside is basically nude.

They sincerely hold their hands together in front of their hearts, swaying to the rhythm to chant a hymn.

”Ascension is such a journey.

How many tears are needed to complete.

Will I expect the distant horizon.

To ascend together with those dear...”
