Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1208: Chapter 663: The Operation Begins (2)

Boudica didn’t really know this guy, but Amanda was the main force for arrest and interrogation, it was unexpected that the one replacing Geralt would be her.

”Audrey will assist us in completing the mission.” Lance turned to her with a smile, ”Isn’t that right~”

”Just these few? Are we taking your woman on a picnic?” Audrey recovered so quickly, clearly just a while ago she was so hungry her legs were weak, looking like she had been stricken with an illness, and now she even had the leisure to make sarcastic remarks.

Her gaze fell on the other two, one looked like a brainless barbarian, and the other was... a bastard, one of those who had captured her back then.

She couldn’t understand what kind of adventure this was supposed to be. It seemed more like it was to satisfy your enjoyment as a lord?

Though Boudica was stunned, she wasn’t stupid, and she was even very sensitive to some maliciousness, and she directly complained to Lance to his face.

”This Sprout is very annoying, boss, I want to punch her.”

”I have no objection.” Amanda toned down her bad demeanor in front of Lance, but it didn’t mean she was a good person, and she laughed as she goaded at these words.

Lance smiled without saying anything, but since Boudica had been with him for so long, not discouraging meant tacit consent. She instantly threw down the axe-spear she was holding and charged forward.

Even if she guessed wrong, at worst, she’d just be beaten by the boss, but she certainly intended to beat up this Sprout first!

Boudica’s build wasn’t overly large; rather she had quite compact muscles, so her movements didn’t appear clumsy at all. On the contrary, they were swift.

Her sudden movements and quick stepping made it difficult for anyone to react to her swinging fist.

But Audrey wasn’t an ordinary person either; although her talent wasn’t enough to become a spellcaster, she followed the contents of notes left by a predecessor to continually modify herself on the path of a Transcendent.

She gained strength from certain rituals and potions, and also from gear exclusive to those Tomb Robbers.

Many of the gains from grave digging were invested into this, and in turn swapped for strength far beyond ordinary people.

Faced with the incoming attack, she quickly reacted and dodged, though she wasn’t hit, she was startled by the sudden assault.

”Oh! What the hell do you think you’re doing, you damn Barbarian!”

Boudica didn’t have a moment’s pause because of her words. Realizing her punch missed and the opponent was agile, she spread her arms wide to grab her.

This action frightened Audrey, and she spat out several sentences that she didn’t even have time to comprehend as her form kept retreating and dodging.

But Boudica relentlessly closed in. Once she got close, you’d better make sure your strength surpassed hers, otherwise you may dodge many times, but once she grabs you, it’s over.

Audrey underestimated Boudica. Instead of continuing to open up distance at that moment, she intended to counterattack and clash with her.

The instant their bodies made contact, Boudica’s strength destroyed her balance. Before Audrey could adjust, a punch swung out, and she raised her hands to block instinctively.

The effect on Audrey was that her whole body was thrown off balance by a single punch, the exaggerated strength pouring in caused intense pain in her arms, and before she could adjust her posture, she fell backward, landing on her rear.

”Hahaha! Sprout weak, I strong!” Boudica pointed at Audrey sitting on the ground and laughed loudly, then raised her arms to display her bulging muscles.

Even Amanda, who had been watching on the side, had a smile on her face, though it was a bit of a shame the beating wasn’t a bit harsher. She wondered if it would teach her a lesson.

Audrey was still a bit bewildered when she heard Boudica’s unrestrained laughter, her previously arrogant expression immediately faltering, or maybe she was pushed too far, getting angry, or wanting to prove herself. She struggled to stand up, wanting to find her weapon and regain her dignity.

”Alright, the game ends here. I suppose Miss Audrey also understands the dangers of this ’picnic’.” Lance stepped up to block Audrey, cutting off the confrontation.

A mouse trying to match strength with a lion; Lance didn’t even know what to say to her. Didn’t she think about how many punches her slender arms and legs could take?

Having been beaten by Amanda before, Audrey naturally wouldn’t underestimate her, but she looked down upon Boudica from the Barbarian Tribes,

You even have to consider the owner when hitting a dog, what right do you have to look down upon my people?

Lance didn’t mind letting her suffer a bit, hence he tacitly allowed Boudica to make a move, but seeing blood wouldn’t be good; everyone knew he didn’t like that.

Boudica, fearless, turned and with a flick of her toe, lifted the axe-spear from the ground and held it in her hand, even looking eager to go again.

”Boss, let her get up and continue, watch me give her a good lesson.”

”Stop it, you be sensible too.” Lance turned back with a look.

”Oh~” Boudica immediately deflated, pouting miserably.

A farce erupted suddenly and ended just as quickly. Soon, a ready sailboat boarded the four of them and headed towards the bay.

Although frustrated, Audrey knew fighting further might not result in her gaining the upper hand, so she went with the flow and let it go.

But as soon as the boat arrived, she sensed something amiss. Although she was locked in an asylum before the relics opened, she knew the situation of the ruins, wasn’t it supposed to be by land? Why were they taking a water route?

After boarding, it was even more puzzling, because though the ship had been simply cleaned, you could still see the marks of blade and axe cuts on the hull, the entrenched brown bloodstains on the deck, and an indistinct negative aura.

She often ran in cemeteries and graveyards, so she was very familiar with this kind of aura.

It was almost certain that this was no ordinary ship, more like a pirate ship.

This strange situation made Audrey let go of earlier matters and fall into curiosity, increasingly looking forward to the upcoming journey.

As Lance commented about her, she was someone who chased after thrills to the point of a pathology; if it was a voyage without accidents, mundane and uneventful, it would bore her.

However, once things slipped out of control and she was unsure of what lay ahead, it would trigger her curiosity and excitement.

Just like entering a tomb filled with mechanisms and traps, you’d never know if your next step would bring surprise or mishaps...

Lance was at the front, managing the ship with some naval soldiers, while also laying out the upcoming tasks.

Though he couldn’t use troops from elsewhere, these navy men could be utilized.

The reason was simple, Redbeard, in order to take down Hamlet this time, prepared for a long time. He used tactics to lure those scattered pirates into scouting the bay, unfortunately feeding them to the Deep Diver.

Meanwhile, under the pretext of raiding Hamlet, he wrangled all the surrounding pirates together, only to lead them into the mist.

The supplies stored up came cheap for Lance, those folks mended the No Light, and filled empty spots at the asylum, and the people still linger in the asylum now.

Having devoured all pirates around the surrounding waters that could threaten Hamlet, Redbeard had indeed helped him significantly; otherwise, how could he gather those pirates together?

Oh, bringing gifts at the doorstep, how very considerate of you.

Therefore, Lance planned to take three hundred naval soldiers to the bay to rebuild a small pier and use it as a military base.

The bay’s geographic location was somewhat special; it was best to control it before they had the means to fully develop it.

Securing the dungeon started with the first step of capturing the small pier, establishing a foothold to hold the retreat path; otherwise, if anything happened and they needed to pull back, losing the small pier would trap them completely.

When the vessel entered the bay, Audrey saw the cliff-like sea cliff, looking up at the nearly ninety-degree hundred-meter high wall, leaving her momentarily speechless.

Not only her, but even Boudica and Amanda were also quite surprised by the spectacle in front of them.

And that was when Lance finally came back to them, blurting out a sentence.

”Prepare for action!”
