Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1211: Chapter 665: The True Legacy

The old mansion occupied by the Ascension Sect was even more relaxed than Lance imagined; there was no movement at the entrance when the team snuck up.

Perhaps they simply hadn’t considered that someone could bypass the ruins, clearing the bay guarded by Deep Divers, and land directly from the cliff.

It seems that the ancestor’s control over this land wasn’t as strong as he imagined.

”Our first-stage mission is to clear out all creatures inside. I’ll repeat once more, clear out all creatures, except for those we discover among ourselves.

Inside, we might encounter some strange situations, but don’t be surprised; for those evil cultists, anything can happen.

During combat, try to minimize noise to avoid alerting the enemy prematurely. We’ll sneak in discreetly first.”

Before stepping into the old mansion, Lance glanced back at them for a final warning.

”Action!”

Lance didn’t choose to enter from the main door; he opted to go through a broken side window.

Approaching the window, he raised his hand and waved, and Boudica immediately moved from position two to position one, leaning her weapon against the wall, then gathering her hands in front, ready to lift him.

With a gentle step for leverage, Lance leapt up and slipped through the half-broken glass, his agile form flowing like an eel into its hole.

”Safe.”

A subtle sound came forth, Lance simply cleared the window’s glass. Then Boudica looked towards the next team member, nodding.

Audrey understood the meaning, but realizing that she had just quarreled with her, how did the enmity suddenly seem to vanish?

Such an obstacle was easily overcome for her, and upon landing, she found Boudica hadn’t played any tricks, causing her vengeful mind to calm down a bit.

Perhaps it was the serious expressions of the team that pressured her, forcing her to focus more on her surroundings.

Amanda followed closely behind, and lastly, it was Boudica who climbed in.

They found themselves in a room that perhaps was once lavish, but now seemed dilapidated, with traces of life like a chaotic dog kennel.

Judging by the broken window, it had been abandoned, with moss stains from accumulated water, and plants even growing within, ultimately showing years of neglect.

Nonetheless, it provided them a perfect entry point; the first step without alerting the enemy.

Lance was guarding the door, and upon seeing the whole team enter, immediately reorganized their formation.

He retreated to position two to command, with Boudica standing in position one as the assault force, Audrey and Amanda in positions three and four respectively.

Lance made an advancing hand gesture, also indicating the direction forward.

Boudica moved forward lightly, and the team followed closely behind.

On the walls, the plaster had peeled away over time, revealing the stacked stones beneath; in this era, maintaining such a building required rock pillars every so often, carved with lavish patterns for decoration.

The ground was littered with bricks and skeletons, and Lance was unwilling to think or consider their origins, only feeling one emotion: anger.

Those damn cultists turned my home into this mess!

Suddenly, Lance raised a hand to her shoulder, while the other clenched into a fist, the team halting abruptly.

Lance approached the opposite side of the door, making several hand gestures towards Boudica, who nodded, picked up her weapon and held it ready to attack, leaning slightly forward like a lioness ready to strike.

The door was pushed open, and instantly, they charged into the room where two black-robed figures were caught off guard.

Boudica’s gaze locked onto a bewildered evil cultist, raising her axe and spear to strike, its sharp tip piercing into the chest, silencing them before they could react.

Simultaneously, Lance rushed in with a slicing motion, Wolf Fang materializing to tear the cultist’s throat.

When Audrey and Amanda rushed in, all they could see were the blood dripping from the weapons of their teammates and the corpses on the ground.

Their coordination was incredibly smooth! Now she understood that when Lance raised two fingers, he indicated two enemies inside, simultaneously distributing them.

”Check the room!” Lance glanced at Audrey, waving his hand, while he focused on the corpses.

They weren’t dressed in the classic style; instead, they wore simple black robes, their bodies showing no obvious flesh mutations.

Simultaneously, their strength didn’t seem overly powerful, suggesting they weren’t combatants, making Lance recall some followers he had encountered before who longed for Ascension. Does the Ascension Sect also require clerks like other organizations?

Finding no useful information, Lance casually sacrificed the corpse, with the void effortlessly erasing it from reality.

Audrey’s expression turned strange upon witnessing this, because the main method for enhancing strength among Tomb Robbers involved a ritual using corpses.

This was the core secret of the Tomb Robber Extraordinary path, and she suspected it was precisely because of their corpse needs that practitioners became Tomb Robbers.

But what did she witness now?

”I asked you to check,” Amanda entered, closing the door behind her, and seeing Audrey still standing there unresponsive, prompted her.

Though Audrey felt annoyed, she still turned her gaze to the room.

Nothing strange here, just a very ordinary room; like outside, patches of wall plaster had fallen due to years of neglect, revealing the bricks and stones within, showing no signs of secret rooms or mechanisms.
