Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1207: Chapter 663: The Operation Begins

Now that her life is in the hands of the other party, Audrey can only surrender obediently.

However, as soon as everyone left, her face immediately showed a fierce expression, and in a frenzy, she suddenly threw the potion bottle, smashing it against the wall with a shattering sound.

Her hands waved chaotically, and there was nothing here to smash, otherwise she would want to destroy everything!

She wanted to scream, shout, and curse, but finally, she could only hold her head and let out low growls, the pain of torment shown on her body.

Audrey’s will was being tested... regret!

Fortunately, Lance gave her enough time, believing she could come to terms with reality and adjust.

It didn’t matter if she couldn’t, Lance was always indifferent about it.

”I kind of understand why her ex-husband didn’t like her, her personality is just unbearable.”

Grendel came out and complained to Lance, her tone filled with disdain.

”Uh... how should I put it, the situation is not that simple, the development of her twisted personality has a lot to do with her ex-husband’s torment.” Lance had some understanding of the situation, not exactly defending Audrey, but the reason really wasn’t that.

”I don’t know if you remember, I said her private life was very chaotic, but don’t you feel something is missing?”

This made Grendel think for a moment, but she quickly understood.

”You mean children?”

”Exactly, although during the interrogation Audrey didn’t say anything, I feel the deterioration of their relationship is related to this.

After all, being married for years without children is hard to accept for a reputable wealthy person, and to maintain the persona, they couldn’t just divorce.”

Grendel couldn’t help giving Lance a meaningful look upon hearing this.

What the hell! Why are you looking at me?

Lance suddenly realized he might be digging his own grave, no need to defend Audrey like that.

He immediately shifted the topic, preparing for action and letting her monitor the situation in town.

”Why insist on going with just four people, wouldn’t bringing more people be better?”

”I’d love to bring an army to crush them, but unfortunately, the ruins are blocking the way, millions of skeletons and hidden Necromancers will drain us of energy, even if we can handle it, time is not on our side.

Moreover, ordinary people aren’t qualified to enter the old manor and face the most brutal battles, and most of our forces must be deployed around to guard against enemies, leaving very few troops we can mobilize.

Choosing Amanda is because she can help us identify any mystical occurrences, and Audrey can help us find hidden portals, as for Boudica...”

At this, Lance paused, as he couldn’t think of any role for Boudica besides being a bodyguard, so he joked with a smile.

”Bring her along for the ride.”

”You say that, Boudica will be heartbroken.”

”Boudica herself doesn’t want to hack those skeletons, nor does she want to stay here, so she has no choice but to come with us and slash the cultists.”

Boudica has a bit of a bloodlust; she likes the scene of blood splattering, so she isn’t interested in hacking skeletons, after all, they don’t bleed.

”Go call Amanda back, we’re preparing to set off, Sela must have already learned about the healing potion from Amanda, we shouldn’t reveal it easily, just normal contact will do.”

”Aren’t you going to see her?”

”Funny, what status does she hold?”

Lance had no time to waste on those folks, he had more important things to do.

”I understand.” Grendel nodded in agreement.

When it’s time to play, play, but she knows when to joke and when to handle serious matters.

Once everyone was busy, Lance unexpectedly found himself with a moment of leisure, though it was brief, enough for him to think again.

Grendel asked earlier why not send more people, indeed apart from lacking personnel, another reason was that with too many people, it would be hard for him to make his moves.

Because the situation in the old manor definitely involves some truths, Lance had to ensure they were under his control.

Simply put, he had to cover for the old ancestor.

Just thinking about this frustrated Lance, taking over Hamlet hadn’t even been half a day, and he’s already stuck cleaning up for the old ancestor.

Damn you old ancestor!

Soon, Audrey came out with a change of clothes, pulling down her hat to cover most of her face, vaguely showing tear stains.

”Do you feel wronged?”

Lance tossed a remark, but surprisingly, it didn’t provoke Audrey, she responded quite calmly.

”But a person has to pay the price for their actions, right? Since you caught me, I can’t complain.”

This made Lance laugh, indeed she wasn’t simple, one who has been through hardship stays calm.

”It’s good you understand, as long as you complete the task and serve your sentence, I’ll help lift your restrictions then.

Moreover, you dug graves for the thrill, now I’m taking you somewhere more thrilling than that, you should feel it’s a fair deal.”

Audrey said nothing more, looking up to meet his gaze, her eyes speaking volumes.

Do you think I believe you?

But Lance just smiled at her gaze.

They exchanged glances, but this time Audrey said nothing, just turned her head with a cold snort.

”Hmph~”

Whether Lance convinced Audrey or not, nobody knew, anyway, the team assembled, Amanda and Boudica needed no mention, but Audrey still drew the attention of others.
