Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1125: Chapter 622: Seizing Control of the Situation

The thick smoke billowed out, quickly engulfing a large area, and some people, caught off guard, felt dizzy as if the world was spinning after inhaling it.

”What is that!”

”It’s toxic!”

”Run!”

Chaos erupted in the room, with people either opening the door to escape or fleeing through the back door or windows.

But waiting outside for them were fully armed police officers, each clad in armor and wearing masks.

Without wasting words, they rushed forward to subdue the people.

Even if you’re a skilled mercenary, so what? You’re outnumbered and out-equipped.

Even if you’re not completely dizzy, just inhaling a little has an effect, making it hard to hold your weapon steadily, let alone anything else.

One by one, they were handcuffed and escorted out, and only after the smoke dissipated did the special police enter to clear each room.

Some people who couldn’t run in time were lying on the ground, and basically, none were left standing.

But never underestimate these people; they have their own tricks to survive in this world.

A special police officer went up to handcuff a fallen mercenary, and suddenly, the person on the ground rolled over and swung a Short Sword.

In that moment, a vicious expression appeared, ”You want to catch me?”

But what happened in the next second was unexpected for him.

The policeman leaned back to dodge the Sword Blade and instinctively drew his gun quickly.

”Bang!”

The gunshot rang out instantly, and the policeman maintained his shooting stance, but as the smoke cleared, the mercenary’s chest bore an excessive wound, with blood soaking a large area of his clothes.

At this moment, he fell to the ground, blood still gushing from his mouth, seemingly unable to understand why things turned out differently than expected.

”Who are you playing with?”

These special policemen were just transferred from the army; they had been trained against heretics, so what were you expecting?

Even with half a body, heretics would move; you’re nothing.

A bullet burst your pretense of death.

Now there’s no need to pretend, you’re dead for real.

”What happened?”

Almost the second the gunshot sounded, a companion inquired, all ready to provide backup at any moment.

”Threat neutralized, everyone be wary of targets regaining consciousness.” The officer stepped back a few paces away from the corpse, reloading while stopping companions from approaching, keeping a vigilant eye on the surroundings.

An experienced small Mercenary Corps was entirely subdued, eight members were captured alive and escorted away except for the one who courted death.

These battle-hardened troops suppress even a Mercenary Corps with ease.

Lance himself likely didn’t realize the fearsome strength of the foundation he built taking risks early on.

But not all actions are so smoothly executed; cunning spies ensure not every plan unfolds ideally, leading to accidents.

A spy happened to be out, missing the first wave of contact, and, realizing something was amiss, directly escaped.

The situational reports immediately reached the top; William led Fergus upstairs, and they found clothes in the room to use as scent samples.

”Sniff carefully; we’ll trace the target!”

William unleashed the leash and handed the clothes to the dog.

”Woof!” Fergus sniffed the clothes, then got into working mode, barked, and ran outside.

”Let’s go, follow him.” William followed with his team; no criminal ever escaped from Fergus.

This is why Lance kept those she-wolves; besides being Wang Cai’s bloodline, troops and police need animal partners for assistance.

For tasks like drug detection, search and rescue, Lance trains working dogs to assist humans, not mere hunting dogs.

Just like now, some tasks humans can’t substitute.

Initially, William thought the criminal had already fled, but Fergus ran out and encountered the target head-on.

”Woof woof woof!”

Sometimes big smart ones appear easily; who knows what he thought, maybe he believed he was smart enough to be uncatchable, and came back to look around, barely leaving.

”Here he is!”

”It’s him!”

The smart one was locked on immediately, spun around, and began running.

But turning your back to hunters is a foolish decision.

”Take him down, girl!”

With William’s command, Fergus showed amazing burst speed, sprinted up, and pounced, causing the person to lose balance and fall.

But this was just the start. Fergus, suppressed for a long time, showed fierce aggression, biting hard and shaking, making the spy scream in pain.

Quickly, others arrived and subdued the target in a few moves, and it took William a bit of effort to calm the excited Fergus down.

But looking at the target’s badly torn and bleeding arm muscle, and the blood stains on Fergus’s lips, it was clear how fierce it was.

”Oh~ girl.” William squatted down, hugged the dog.

Knowing he was too busy lately, without bringing her out much or spending much time with her.

The Lord was right, one needs rest to adjust.

Seems like, after this task, it’s time for a good vacation...

Not only this operation faced errors, but another mission did too, at the hotel, where complex scenarios caused a suspect to become alert and leap from the second floor.
