Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1117: Chapter 618: Public Security Reform

Lance naturally doesn’t limit Sofia in concocting those potions; he even encourages her to dabble in them, otherwise how can he ”steal” (crossed out) learn?

As much as he says so, Hamlet isn’t like other loose feudal territories in the Empire; most resources are controlled, and various plant materials are in Grendel’s hands.

Do you think Grendel would easily hand over materials to her?

Not to mention, Sofia basically has no money at hand. When Bastia ran away, it was already unexpected; those devoted fans couldn’t offer a penny.

Now she relies on advanced wages to afford meals, and as for accommodation, she stays with Margaret and Laura.

One could say she’s entirely benefiting from her two roommates; otherwise, how could she have such good living conditions?

A single room? It’s Lance’s mercy they’re not shoving her into a large dorm.

When it comes to things involving supernatural power, money is necessary. But in Hamlet, there are no devoted fans to pay for her.

Trying to dig money out of Lance’s pocket? It’s impossible without paying a price.

You might say that if she wants to engage in these activities, she has to go through Lance as the middleman.

If she really plays dead, Lance isn’t bothered to care for her. It’s best for her to be obedient; once the real major issues are resolved, Lance will have plenty of time to slowly deal with her.

Want to meddle in the power of Hamlet? Then don’t even think about leaving...

After a brief chat, she was quickly sent off to work, exploited harshly.

Currently, there are many issues that need addressing in Hamlet. Sofia’s issues are indeed not important to Lance, at least for now, he doesn’t have time to waste more words with her.

After a quick breakfast, Lance also left and went to the Sheriff’s Office, no, it should be called the Police Station now.

These days, the main thing he’s been busy with is this, even working from here.

Starting with dividing several districts according to city construction plans, setting up branches within them.

While perfecting corresponding rules and regulations, organizing personnel for training, basically classes.

Being a sheriff doesn’t mean no need to learn, but no one wants to skip classes because the teacher is the Lord.

This training not only lets them understand the difficulties faced by sheriffs under the development of the era but also reform plans.

Letting them understand the new rules and regulations, clarifying the scope of authority, what should be done, what can be done, and what shouldn’t be done.

Of course, the most important thing is to tell them why to do this, explaining the importance of sheriffs to the people, the responsibility they bear.

Lance knows very well that many among them don’t understand this principle, and only persist until now for better treatment or his orders.

But Lance doesn’t mind; he also knows he has been out of touch for a long time, so he’s taking this opportunity to conduct systematic ideological construction for these newly transferred positions. Without this, everything else is empty talk.

Most present are of poor backgrounds, and they understand the importance of order to the people at the bottom.

They didn’t realize before; now they understand that chaos is hell.

The Lord led them out, then they must not go back.

Anyone daring to shake the order is their enemy, and must be struck hard!

Lance discovered the greatest effect of [Enchanting Voice] isn’t hypnotizing women but as ”preaching.”

No time to cultivate slowly now, so directly instilling this belief. His words seem to carry a magical power; listening once makes it clear, like empathizing, making everyone go crazy over it.

Listening to his class seems to imprint directly in the brain, never to be forgotten.

The officers one by one are like they’re on a high dose of adrenaline, their study efficiency is incredibly frightening.

Initially, it puzzled William who also came over to listen to the class, only to find Fergus already thoroughly enjoying it, wagging his tail in excitement.

If even a dog can’t resist the Lord’s words, you can imagine.

Lance uses this opportunity to re-evaluate the sheriffs, reviewing their case files and simultaneously reaching out to gather public opinion on them.

No one in Hamlet would lie to the Lord, none!

Integrating various conditions, a batch of individuals with sufficiently strong willpower, stable emotions, clear logical thinking, and strong ability to handle affairs are directly promoted.

They will serve as directors of those branches, not just in a few places within the town, but also at a few farms outside the town and the newly established adventurer settlement in the wilderness.

The people inside the town have somewhat gotten familiar with sheriffs, so accepting a more professional police force has a much lower difficulty.

However, those places outside the town due to initial lack of attention may have already formed some interest connections within, which their deployment is doomed to be difficult, so Lance requires them to have a certain ability for independent incident handling.

Of course, Lance also gives them enough support; whoever dares to stir trouble directly gets arrested. He’s yet to see who has forgotten whose territory this is.

While carrying out reforms, Lance also takes great care of those officers’ psychological health, almost talking with them one-on-one.

Anyway, after the Lord’s therapy through words, the officers, under tremendous pressure, found relief, and simultaneously, a stronger will is built up.

Lance also organizes a psychological research report based on their conditions, starting to establish a psychological consultation and handling plan.

If a person knows little, muddling throughout the confined space wouldn’t have many thoughts, let alone psychological issues.
